Having just tried this dessert this past weekend, I can understand wanting a fluffy ice. I marveled at the delicate shaved ice in this dessert. I had a mango bingsul with a mango purée, tiny cheesecake bits and a scoop of vanilla on top. OH MY GAWD....SO DELICIOUS! I think I’m going to splurge.... p.s. I think the texture of shaved ice is like real snowflakes, and that delicate texture is what makes this dessert so DIVINE!

true, if the only deciding factor that turns it from shaved ice to bingsu is the space in the blade then a modded first model would be the cheapest

0:35 That one brings back memories of making "sno cones" for all the workers working in our fields, as a kid. They'd come over and plow or harvest and me and my brother would make sno cones for them. They were always so nice about it despite the fact that they probably sucked haha. We used way too much flavoring.
@TwiSteDCBloSsoM Жыл бұрын
I've heard that hand crank one is dependent on the pressure you apply so some people using really light pressure can make more delicate shaved ice. I really do wonder if there is a hand crank version that gets the right fluffy ice for bingsu... I really didn't want an electric one.

For best results, you're suppose to "sweat" the ice. You slightly allow the ice to melt.

Just use a blender and put ice cubes in it. Then use the "crushed" or "smoothie" settings and it comes out at 99% as snow.

Interesting - your third machine for $ 108 got the lowest reviews on Amazon - really low. I've been looking for a lesser calorie/fat alternative to ice cream. I figured some sort of ice machine would be great but for some reason, I never thought about freezing milk instead of water. Presto, chocolate milk shaved and yummy without all those ice cream additives. Now the big decision will be - do I need "fluffy" ice or will "chunky" ice be fine.
