DT770 Pros are brilliant for the price. They'd be a good starting point. When switching to these from monitors in an untreated room you instantly realize you bumped up the high end a bit too much to compensate for the increase in mids and lows the room creates. Upgrading to DT990 Pro X soon.

Nice vid! :) one question maybe you have some experience with this, do you find that ns10s may be an exeption and can sound kinda similar in very different rooms? I found cause they dont have any lowend they work pretty good on all the rooms ive used them in. Also measured it in a temporary room im in now with no treatement, they measure very! flat! Kinda suprising even tough on paper they have that almost 10db boost at 1,5k. But in my room they measure super flat.. exept nothing under 80hz tough, but thats expected. 😮

That’s actually very interesting! What comes to mind for me is low-end is usually the biggest problem in listening environments. Since the ns-10s are mostly mid range there’s not a lot of low-end issues being created, so that’s why their response in a room may be measuring quite flat. But having nothing under 80hz concerns me. I’d much prefer a full range set of speakers with a treated room to be able to hear the low-end clearly. I think the ns-10s would be a good cross reference point for checking your mix on. They may help it translate to laptops, tvs, phones etc like mix cubes do. But music for streaming, radio, nightclubs that usually need tight clear low-end, I think I’d have a hard time achieving that regularly on ns10s. So basically to answer the question. I know they are measuring quite flat, but I think acoustic treatment would likely still benefit ns-10s like some reflective surface absorption/diffusion since that is usually for mid range and above. And that’s more influencing the decay of the room. But you probably don’t need quite as much bass trapping as a more full range set of monitors. I’m no acoustician haha but that’s kind of what I’m thinking. Possibly a good solution could be to regularly check your mix on headphones to hear what’s happening with the low-end. Thanks for the question! That one made me think.

@@Josh.Bartel i definetly need acoustic treatment, im just in a temporary space now and it was just kinda interesting. Definetly need some full range speakers yep! Just havent found anything i like yet. Ive heard some super expensive ones I really like but theyre not really an option budgetwise now. Too bad that once you have heard how insane those top tier speakers are, i find it hard to buy some mid level speakers that doesnt entice me. So thats why im keeping to the ns10s now, havent really found anything that i like the sound of more than those.

@@MariJu1ce I know exactly what you mean, once you hear the top range ones it’s very hard to go back. It sounds like you are doing everything you can with what you have 👍🏻
