Update: Users have mentioned they are unable to apply firmware updates to the Go 3 or 3S, without the Action Pod. Historically, Insta360 firmware updates have not been significant, choosing instead to release an updated new product, but be aware of this additional unique Action Pod feature.

I think the main reason they decided to split them is because the pods for the Go 3 and Go 3S are the same, so forcing an existing Go 3 owner to have to buy another pod and standard bundle seemed unfair.
