I don't comment much. I worked with Irish. Lots. About 15,000 per day. Feather dust is not good for your lungs. Also, many employees contracted psittacosis from parrots that contaminated the food birds. From air and casual contact. Yes. I have had Australian parrots. Just a thought.

I use levoit already and love them. Have two smart/wifi ones. I have macaws and although i have always wanted an African grey but advised they should not mix (even by transferring off handler) as the dust from AG makes new world birds unwell.

Yes the dust from greys can be dangerous for macaws, I keep mine housed separately, and if they ever spend time together it is outside

Wow I am a severe asthmatic and live surrounded by trees and fields, the dust and pollen means I mainly keep my windows closed all summer, this could be a game changer for me!

African greys are little dust factories haha. How often do you think the filter should be vacuumed? And how often should the filter be replaced?
@ShelbyTheMacaw23 күн бұрын
The filter should be replaced every month, and I tend to hoover it once per week!

What is the dust exactly? I’ve heard this before.

Some of their feathers disintegrate into a fine powder naturally, and they use this dust to clean and protect their feathers
