It’s not just raising the price on plastic, it’s constantly reducing the points so you have to buy more plastic in order to keep playing. I have multiple armies that were well over 2000 points for all of 9th ed that dropped well below 1500 points in 10th ed.

I was priced out of playing and buying GW miniatures probably for good the past few years. At my local game store anecdotally I have seen the same box sets from GW on the shelves for months and months. The only new stuff is some Old World books, but no miniatures. In comparison, I mainly buy white metal historical figures now (much more expensive material) and can buy more figures for the same price point as GW. The only people defending the prices are the people totally addicted to the miniatures, which is sadly a lot of the community.

You can still play Warhammer even if you don't buy GW minis. Warhammer is model agnostic outside of competitive tournaments, and lets face it who here is actually trying to place in GTs? As far as bringing armies to the store nobody is going to complain if your models aren't even fully assembled. There are third party apps that will let you build your armies better than the official app, and Wahapedia gives you all the rules and supplements in the game for free. While I'm not saying OPR isn't a good alternative, you also don't need to give up on Warhammer entirely as a game if that's your jam. You can buy OPR minis and play Warhammer. The main difference is OPR rules are officially provided for free so there is no reliance on third parties, and their army builder is the best in the business. Grimdark Future also uses alternating activations which Warhammer still refuses to catch up and use even though their skirmish games use it.

I'm the terrain guy and host for a group of four, and while we've played some combat patrol, we've enjoyed ourselves much more with GFF, and I'm really hoping we can keep going in that direction with GF proper. I like GW's models, but I primarily buy them secondhand and I just don't want to buy instantly outdated rulebooks that support wasteful and anti-consumer business practices. I really want to get some of the Jackal models someday too, they look great. Another option I'm considering a lot as well is the Deadzone starter set with two factions, great terrain and a complete ruleset for a really good price. There are tons of player-friendly choices out there!

This is what I found on GWs Website for the USA Primaris Crusader Squad $60.00 for 10 miniatures = $6.00 a miniature Weight of box: 6 ounces Black Templars Sword Brethren $60.00 for 5 miniatures = $12.00 a miniature Weight of Box: 6.9 ounces Looking at sprues for both box sets. The thing that stands out to me is the fact that the Sword Breathern have more capes in the box set. The other notable difference is that the Crusader squad has 2 unique sprue sets vs the Sword Breathen 3 unique sprue sets. There is an extra cost there as far as initial design and creation of the molds and you could argue that there is some additional cost in production and that because the box per Amazon weighs .9 ounces heavier then the cost is justified for 5 miniatures vs 10 miniatures. That might be the justification GW is using to charge the same amount per box for 2 different quantities of miniatures while using a simple pricing structure. I could make the argument that GW could have gotten 10 miniatures in both boxes within a similar weight and cost if there were minor changes to the sprue design. I could also make the argument that GW could have charged slightly more to get 10 miniatures in the box set for the Sword Breathern. Oh and before anyone makes the argument about you only need X per the rules. GW is in the business to make miniatures, rules have always been and will always be a instrument to sell those models. To put it another way, GW could have made the rules and points for the Sword Brothers to require 10 miniatures vs 5 miniatures or however the Codex calls them out. To conclude the only way I can see the pricing make sense from a manufacturing perspective is that there was an upfront cost for an additional unique sprue and there is additional weight in the box. This however could have been addressed from a manufacturing and design standpoint in determining ahead of time that only X amounts of unique sprues can be included in the design and production of any box set to keep costs at a fixed rate.

At what point do players call them and stop buying? This is essentially highway robbery. I don't see how any new players can come in or current players stay up to date. The costs have not gone up for them more than a fraction of a percent if that. I'm sorry. Put out the unadulterated spread sheets and let us judge for ourselves. Srsly, core units are one the verge of costing 80-100 bucks a box. At those prices, you are making a killing. This is why I look more and more at stl miniature armies. The printer is a one time buy in. You have it forever. You buy army stls for 40-80 bucks +/- 20. 40$ of resin can print at least a full army, sometimes multiple. All things roughly ballparked printing your own army beats 80$x3 for 3 core unit boxes sans all the other models you have to buy to complete your army from GW. Eventually, Warhammer will crash, I can't see how it doesn't.

I will use them in OPR AoF as zombie wolves, but 32,50€ for a box of 5 models? 5 models whose combat value is more than questionable and which can quickly disappear from the table? I have a Stormbringer subscription for AoS models. If they weren't so cheap that you pay just under half the price of GW, I wouldn't have done it. The models themselves are good, there's nothing to complain about, but these will probably be the last models from GW. I last bought from Mantic Kings of War anyway, they also have nice models and aren't as bulky as the GW models these days.
