where is the best place to get a blood test. is there a hair facility that does the specific blood test or does my health care company do this test without questioning my reason for the blood work. or would my health care provider require a prescription from a doctor to approve the blood work.

Getting a blood test for hair-related concerns, like checking for deficiencies, hormone levels, or other underlying issues, is a great idea. Here’s how you can go about it: ### Options for Getting a Blood Test: 1. **Healthcare Provider (Primary Care Physician or Dermatologist)**: - **Visit Your Doctor**: Your primary care physician or a dermatologist can order the specific blood tests you need. They’ll usually ask about your symptoms and reasons for the tests, but this is to ensure they’re providing the right care. - **Insurance Coverage**: If your doctor orders the tests, they’re typically covered by insurance, but it’s always good to check with your insurance company. 2. **Specialized Hair Clinics**: - **Trichology Clinics**: Some hair loss clinics or trichologists offer specific blood tests as part of their assessment. These clinics often have partnerships with labs or can draw blood on-site and send it to a lab. - **Consultation Required**: You might need an initial consultation before they recommend blood tests, but these clinics are focused on hair health, so they understand the importance of such tests. 3. **Independent Laboratories**: - **Direct-to-Consumer Labs**: There are labs like Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, or Everlywell that allow you to order blood tests directly without a doctor's referral. You can select the tests you want and either visit a lab for the blood draw or use an at-home kit (depending on the test). - **Insurance**: Direct-to-consumer tests may not be covered by insurance, so you would need to pay out of pocket. 4. **Health Insurance Company**: - **Insurance and Blood Work**: Some health insurance plans may cover routine blood work or specific tests, but a doctor’s order is usually required. They typically won’t question your reason for needing the test if it’s been ordered by a healthcare provider. - **Prescription Requirement**: Generally, for blood tests to be covered, they need to be prescribed by a doctor. Without a prescription, you may need to use a direct-to-consumer service or pay out of pocket. ### What to Do: - **Start with Your Doctor**: If you have a good relationship with your healthcare provider, start there. Explain your concerns about hair loss and the need for specific tests. They can guide you and ensure that the right tests are ordered. - **Visit a Trichologist**: If you prefer a specialist in hair health, a trichologist or a specialized hair clinic might be the best place. They can provide a more focused approach and may offer additional insights based on the results. Each option has its pros and cons, but the key is to find a solution that fits your needs, whether it's through your regular doctor, a specialist, or an independent lab. 🩺🧪 ➡️Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com](www.advancedtrichology.com/).

Dr. Gaunitz, Where could I find the correct information regarding the right diet for an A+ blood type please?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist Ай бұрын
For a diet tailored to your **A+ blood type**, you might want to explore resources based on the **Blood Type Diet**, popularized by Dr. Peter D’Adamo. This diet suggests that individuals with blood type A benefit from a primarily plant-based diet due to their evolutionary background. Here's where to find reliable information and tips: --- ### **Resources for Blood Type A+ Diet**: 1. **Dr. Peter D’Adamo’s Books**: - *Eat Right 4 Your Type*: This book is a foundational guide for understanding dietary recommendations for each blood type. - *Live Right 4 Your Type*: Focuses on lifestyle adjustments, including diet, exercise, and stress management. 2. **Official Websites**: - [4YourType.com](www.4yourtype.com): Offers detailed information, food lists, and even supplements tailored to each blood type. - [D’Adamo Personalized Nutrition](www.dadamo.com): Provides shopping lists, recipes, and insights specific to type A. 3. **Food Lists and PDF Guides**: - I noticed you uploaded some PDFs earlier-these might already contain specific food lists for type A, including beneficial and avoid foods for optimal health. 4. **Diet Summary for Type A**: - **Emphasize**: Vegetables, fruits, tofu, grains, legumes, and olive oil. - **Limit**: Red meat, dairy, and wheat products. - **Avoid**: Processed foods, refined sugars, and heavy oils. --- ### **Personalized Nutrition Advice**: If you want something more specific, consider consulting a **nutritionist** or **dietitian** familiar with the Blood Type Diet to ensure it’s adapted to your health goals and lifestyle. --- ### Key Note: While many people find the Blood Type Diet helpful, it’s important to remember that there’s limited scientific evidence supporting its claims. Always listen to your body and adjust based on how you feel. 💡 ➡️ Let me know if you’d like me to extract specifics from your uploaded documents to get started on your diet plan! 🌱

I think I’ve got high cortisol, so I’m taking Berberine, and I now have estrogen patches but also have to take progesterone. So far, nothing is working. I have a thin spot on the crown of my head, and the hair shafts all over my head are getting thinner and thinner. It seems to be falling out all over. My blood type is B-negative. I was told a couple of months ago that i had high cholesterol and was pre-diabetic. I have to return back soon. My hair loss is more on the sides edges wise, they were doing great until i tried that Rosemary's oil and shampoo which took alot of my hair out, back in may of this year i was told i had scalp psoriasis but the lady never actually looked at my hair or scalp. I do go back to the dermatologist in March , and i will complain about that. I hate having these issues because hair loss is not a thing in my family. My mom still has hers, and my dad still has all of his. Anytime my head itches, i start to break out at the scalp now. Should i just cut my hair off and start over.

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re going through this, and I understand how frustrating it can be when you see more hair loss despite your efforts. 😢 But don’t worry, there are definitely steps you can take to address this situation and regain control. Let’s break down what could be happening and what you can try next: ### Why You Might Be Experiencing Hair Fall and Dandruff: ✨ **Initial response to treatment**: Sometimes, treatments like **ketoconazole and zinc shampoos** can cause a temporary increase in shedding as they clear away the build-up on your scalp and reset your scalp’s health. However, if the shedding and dandruff are getting worse after two months, it may be time to reassess the treatment. ✨ **Scalp irritation**: Ketoconazole and zinc are powerful antifungal and anti-dandruff ingredients, but using them too frequently or in high concentrations can sometimes dry out the scalp, leading to more dandruff and hair loss. Your scalp might be reacting to the harshness of the treatment. ### What You Can Do Next: 1. **Scale back on the ketoconazole**: Try using the shampoo **less frequently** (about 2-3 times a week) rather than daily. This will give your scalp a chance to recover from potential over-drying. 2. **Moisturize your scalp**: Use a gentle, hydrating scalp treatment or oil (like **coconut oil** or **tea tree oil**) between washes to soothe your scalp and reduce flaking. Moisture is key to preventing further irritation. 3. **Switch to a mild shampoo**: On the days you’re not using the ketoconazole shampoo, use a mild, sulfate-free shampoo to prevent further irritation. Look for ingredients like **aloe vera** or **panthenol** for calming effects. 4. **Focus on diet and stress management**: Hair loss and dandruff can be worsened by stress or poor diet. Make sure you're getting plenty of **zinc**, **iron**, **biotin**, and other essential nutrients in your diet. Managing stress through relaxation techniques like **meditation** or **exercise** can also help reduce hair shedding. 5. **Consult with a dermatologist**: If your symptoms persist or worsen, it’s important to consult your doctor again. They may suggest switching to a different treatment like a **mild corticosteroid** for scalp inflammation or **PRP therapy** if hair loss continues. ### Stay Positive: Remember, this is temporary, and it can take a little time to find the right solution for your scalp and hair health. Keep pushing forward with gentle treatments and care, and try not to let it impact your confidence-you’ll get through this! ➡️ Reach out to us at www.advancedtrichology.com/ for personalized advice and support. Is excessive masturbation related to premature greying of hair? Or is it a myth that needs debunking? Could you make a video on this topic?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist Ай бұрын
That’s a really interesting topic, and I’d be happy to explain-and yes, it would make for an insightful video! Let’s clear up the myths and facts. 😊 ### **Does Excessive Masturbation Cause Premature Greying?** - **Myth**: There’s no direct scientific evidence linking masturbation to premature greying of hair. This belief likely stems from cultural or traditional ideas, not medical research. - **Fact**: Premature greying is primarily influenced by: - **Genetics**: If your parents or grandparents greyed early, it’s likely you will too. - **Oxidative Stress**: Poor lifestyle habits, smoking, and stress can damage hair pigment cells (melanocytes). - **Nutritional Deficiencies**: Low levels of B12, copper, or iron can accelerate greying. - **Autoimmune Conditions**: Disorders like vitiligo can also play a role. --- ### **Why the Link Between Masturbation and Greying?** The idea might come from the fact that excessive masturbation or any habit done compulsively can lead to: 1. **Stress and Fatigue**: Chronic stress can contribute to oxidative damage and greying. 2. **Poor Nutrition or Lifestyle**: If excessive habits lead to poor sleep, diet, or health, they might indirectly affect hair quality-but not greying directly. --- ### **Should You Be Concerned?** Unless masturbation is excessive to the point it’s affecting your physical or mental health, it’s unlikely to have any impact on your hair’s pigmentation. Focus on: - Eating a nutrient-rich diet with lots of antioxidants. - Reducing stress through exercise, mindfulness, or hobbies. - Avoiding harsh hair products or habits that damage hair. --- A video debunking this myth could be a great way to educate and reassure people! 💡➡️ For tips on managing hair health and tackling premature greying, visit www.advancedtrichology.com/. 🌟

A 37-year-old female who had been suffering from diffuse alopecia since she was 1 year old, can she recover? One more question: Is there any role of gluten in reducing alopecia?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist Ай бұрын
Recovering from **diffuse alopecia** that has persisted since childhood is challenging but not impossible, depending on the root cause. Addressing it requires identifying whether the condition is due to genetic, autoimmune, nutritional, or environmental factors. Let’s address both of your questions: --- ### **1. Can She Recover from Diffuse Alopecia Since Childhood?** Diffuse alopecia starting at such an early age likely has an underlying medical or genetic cause. Here are the possibilities and potential treatments: #### **Possible Causes of Diffuse Alopecia** 1. **Congenital Hypotrichosis**: - A genetic condition resulting in sparse or thin hair. Recovery depends on advances in treatment, but regrowth is often limited. 2. **Autoimmune Conditions**: - Conditions like **alopecia areata** or **autoimmune thyroid disease** could trigger childhood-onset alopecia. - Treatments: **Topical or systemic immunosuppressants**, like corticosteroids, or advanced therapies like **JAK inhibitors** (under medical supervision). 3. **Nutritional Deficiencies**: - Deficiencies in **iron**, **zinc**, **vitamin D**, or **protein** can cause diffuse alopecia. Addressing these deficiencies can improve hair health. 4. **Chronic Telogen Effluvium**: - Often caused by underlying stress or hormonal imbalances (e.g., thyroid dysfunction). Regrowth can occur once the triggers are managed. 5. **Scalp or Follicular Disorders**: - Chronic scalp inflammation or conditions like **seborrheic dermatitis** or **folliculitis** can prevent hair regrowth. Treatments targeting scalp health can help. #### **Treatment and Recovery Possibilities** - **Scalp Stimulation**: - Treatments like **PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)**, **microneedling**, or **low-level laser therapy (LLLT)** can encourage follicle activation. - **Topical Treatments**: - **Minoxidil (5%)** to stimulate regrowth. - Anti-inflammatory scalp products if inflammation is present. - **Systemic Treatments**: - Hormonal therapies if the alopecia is related to PCOS or other endocrine disorders. - Advanced options like **JAK inhibitors** for autoimmune-related hair loss. #### **Recovery Potential**: - Regrowth is possible if the follicles remain active but dormant. Advanced treatments, combined with proper scalp care, may help her regain some density, though full regrowth is less likely with such long-term hair loss. --- ### **2. Role of Gluten in Reducing Alopecia** Gluten sensitivity can indeed play a role in certain types of alopecia, particularly in individuals with autoimmune conditions or celiac disease. #### **How Gluten Affects Hair Loss** 1. **Celiac Disease**: - Gluten triggers an autoimmune reaction in the small intestine, leading to **nutrient malabsorption** (e.g., iron, zinc, folate). This can cause diffuse hair loss (telogen effluvium). 2. **Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity**: - Some people experience systemic inflammation due to gluten, which can exacerbate autoimmune conditions like **alopecia areata**. 3. **Inflammation**: - Gluten-induced inflammation may affect the scalp environment, worsening follicular health. #### **Should She Eliminate Gluten?** - If she has symptoms of gluten sensitivity (e.g., bloating, fatigue, or joint pain), or an autoimmune condition like celiac disease or alopecia areata, **a gluten-free diet might help** reduce inflammation and improve hair health. --- ### **Steps Forward** 1. **Comprehensive Testing**: - Blood tests for **ferritin, zinc, vitamin D, and B12**. - Check for autoimmune markers, thyroid function (TSH, T3, T4), and celiac disease (anti-tTG antibodies). 2. **Targeted Treatments**: - Begin with scalp therapies (like Minoxidil) and nutritional support. - Consider advanced treatments like **PRP** or **JAK inhibitors** for autoimmune-related alopecia. 3. **Diet and Lifestyle**: - **Anti-inflammatory Diet**: Rich in omega-3s, leafy greens, and antioxidants. - **Gluten-Free Diet**: If gluten sensitivity or celiac disease is present. --- ### **Takeaway** Recovery depends on the underlying cause of her diffuse alopecia. Early and consistent treatment, addressing autoimmune or nutritional triggers, and exploring advanced therapies can significantly improve outcomes. Gluten elimination can be beneficial for some, especially those with autoimmune-related hair loss or celiac disease. If you’d like help tailoring a specific treatment plan, let me know-I’d be happy to assist! 😊➡️ Explore hair care solutions at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/). 💙

If you attach the appropriate attachments to any electric vibration massager and apply it to your scalp, is it possible to speed up blood circulation? If so, some massagers vibrate left and right, while others vibrate back and forth. Which movement is more effective?

Hey there! 😊 Thanks so much for watching the videos and for your kind words! I'm glad you’ve found them helpful. Let’s dive into the optimal levels for the key bloodwork tests often related to hair health: 1. **Ferritin (Iron Storage) 🔍**: - Optimal Level: **70-100 ng/mL** - Low levels can lead to hair shedding, so it’s crucial to keep this in the optimal range, especially for hair growth. 2. **Vitamin D (25-Hydroxy) ☀️**: - Optimal Level: **50-80 ng/mL** - Vitamin D is important for the hair growth cycle, and low levels can contribute to thinning. 3. **Thyroid Panel (TSH, Free T3, Free T4) 🧬**: - **TSH**: Optimal is around **0.5-2.5 mIU/L** (higher levels can indicate hypothyroidism). - **Free T3**: **3.2-4.2 pg/mL** is typically good. - **Free T4**: **1.0-1.8 ng/dL**. - Imbalances can slow down hair growth, so these should be checked if you notice changes in hair texture or thickness. 4. **Zinc**: - Optimal Level: **90-120 µg/dL**. - Zinc plays a role in cell growth and repair, including for hair. 5. **B12**: - Optimal Level: **500-900 pg/mL**. - Vital for overall energy and health, including the health of hair follicles. 6. **Testosterone and DHT Levels (for men) 💪**: - Free Testosterone: Levels vary with age but aim for the **upper third** of the normal range. - DHT: Keeping this in the **lower part of the reference range** can help manage hair loss if androgenetic alopecia is a concern. I hope this helps you fine-tune your bloodwork results! It’s always best to interpret these with your healthcare provider for personalized advice. ➡️Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/) if you need more help or a deeper dive into your results!

My Dermatologist recommended a Scalp Biopsy Yesterday. Will that help to pinpoint my hair loss?
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 4 ай бұрын
Yes, a scalp biopsy can be very helpful in pinpointing the exact cause of your hair loss, especially if the diagnosis is not clear from a clinical examination alone. Here's how a scalp biopsy can assist in diagnosing your condition: How a Scalp Biopsy Works: Tissue Sample: During a scalp biopsy, a small piece of scalp tissue, including hair follicles, is removed for examination under a microscope. Microscopic Examination: The biopsy allows a pathologist to closely examine the tissue, hair follicles, and surrounding structures to identify any abnormalities. This can include signs of inflammation, scarring, or changes in the hair growth cycle. What a Scalp Biopsy Can Reveal: Scarring vs. Non-Scarring Hair Loss: It can help differentiate between scarring (cicatricial) and non-scarring types of hair loss. Scarring conditions like lichen planopilaris (LPP) and frontal fibrosing alopecia lead to permanent hair loss, whereas non-scarring types like telogen effluvium or alopecia areata might be reversible. Inflammation: It can identify whether your hair loss is due to an inflammatory condition, such as alopecia areata or discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE). Follicular Changes: The biopsy can show whether your hair follicles are miniaturizing, which is characteristic of androgenetic alopecia (pattern hair loss). Fungal or Bacterial Infections: Sometimes hair loss is due to infections that a biopsy can help diagnose. Benefits of a Scalp Biopsy: Accurate Diagnosis: It can provide a definitive diagnosis, especially when the cause of hair loss is not obvious. Tailored Treatment: With a clear diagnosis, your dermatologist can recommend the most effective treatment plan for your specific condition. Ruling Out Conditions: A biopsy can also help rule out certain conditions, narrowing down the possible causes of your hair loss. What to Expect: Procedure: The biopsy is usually a quick, in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia. You may feel some discomfort afterward, but it generally heals well with minimal scarring. Results: It typically takes a week or two to get the results, depending on the lab processing the biopsy. Next Steps: Once the biopsy results are in, your dermatologist will discuss the findings with you and suggest the best course of action. Whether it confirms a suspected diagnosis or reveals something unexpected, it will provide valuable information for managing your hair loss. A scalp biopsy is a powerful diagnostic tool, and while it might seem daunting, it can bring you closer to understanding the root cause of your hair loss and how to address it effectively. 🌱🔬 If you have any concerns about the procedure, don’t hesitate to ask your dermatologist-they’ll be able to guide you through it and explain what you can expect.

Can you talking about hair breakage I’m 36 f unfortunately I suffering from it for at least 9 years no heat no dye no harsh chemicals it falling short pieces of hair 😢I discovered I have low ferritin 22 first time I did it in my life
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 3 ай бұрын
I'm really sorry to hear you're dealing with hair breakage-it can be super frustrating, especially when you're doing all the right things like avoiding heat and chemicals. 😕 Based on what you're describing and your low **ferritin levels** (22 is quite low), this could be a major contributor to your hair breakage. Here’s a breakdown of how **low ferritin** impacts your hair: - **Ferritin** is a protein that stores iron, and having low levels means your body isn’t getting enough iron to properly support hair growth and strength. - When ferritin is low, your hair becomes weaker, more prone to **breakage**, and may not grow as efficiently. This could be why you're seeing those short, broken-off pieces. ### Here’s what you can do: 1. **Increase iron intake**: Try to include iron-rich foods like spinach, lentils, red meat, and fortified cereals. Your doctor might also recommend an **iron supplement** to help raise your ferritin levels more quickly. 2. **Take Vitamin C**: This helps with iron absorption, so include more citrus fruits, strawberries, or even a supplement alongside your iron-rich foods. 3. **Use strengthening hair products**: Since your hair is breaking, look for shampoos and conditioners with **keratin** or **protein** to help reinforce your strands. 4. **Avoid tension**: Even though you’re not using heat or harsh chemicals, make sure your hair isn’t being stressed by tight hairstyles or rough brushing. 5. **Check for other deficiencies**: Low ferritin might not be the only issue. It’s worth checking your **vitamin D**, **zinc**, and **B-vitamins**, which are also critical for hair health. Raising your ferritin levels takes time, but once they’re in a healthier range (usually above 70-80 for optimal hair growth), you should see a reduction in breakage. 💪 ➡️ Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/) for more personalized advice on supplements and treatments to help restore your hair's strength! 😊

@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your blood test results! Let’s break it down: --- ### **1. Vitamin D Levels (24 ng/ml)** - A level of **24 ng/ml** is considered **low-normal**, but it’s below the optimal range for overall health and hair growth (which is **30-50 ng/ml**, and some experts recommend 50-70 ng/ml for optimal hair and immune support). - **Impact on Hair**: Vitamin D is crucial for follicle health and the hair growth cycle. Deficiency can slow regrowth and contribute to shedding. #### **Recommendation**: - Yes, you should **supplement with vitamin D3**. - **Dose**: Take **2,000-5,000 IU daily** depending on your doctor's advice. - Retest in **8-12 weeks** to monitor improvement. - Pair with a fat-containing meal for better absorption. --- ### **2. Ferritin Levels (60 ng/ml)** - **60 ng/ml** is within the **normal range**, but for hair growth, ferritin levels above **70 ng/ml** are often considered ideal. - Low ferritin can contribute to hair thinning or shedding, especially if you’re close to the borderline. #### **Recommendation**: - **Optional**: If your hair is shedding, it’s worth increasing ferritin levels a bit. - Consider adding an **iron supplement** (like 18-25 mg daily) along with **vitamin C** to enhance absorption. - Focus on iron-rich foods: spinach, lentils, lean meats, and fortified cereals. --- ### **3. Blood Type (A+)** - There’s no direct link between blood type and specific supplements, but as an **A+ blood type**, you might benefit from a plant-focused, anti-inflammatory diet to support overall health and reduce scalp inflammation. #### **Foods to Prioritize**: - Leafy greens, nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, and lean proteins like fish or turkey. - Reduce processed foods and limit red meat for better nutrient balance. --- ### **4. Overall Recommendations** - **Supplements**: - Vitamin D3: **2,000-5,000 IU daily**. - Optional Iron: **18-25 mg daily** (if hair shedding persists). - Add **zinc (15-30 mg)** or **biotin (5,000 mcg)** for hair health support. - **Lifestyle**: - Ensure hydration and manage stress levels, as stress can exacerbate hair loss. - Regular exercise improves circulation to the scalp. --- ### **When to Retest**: - Retest vitamin D and ferritin levels in **8-12 weeks** to ensure you’re moving into the optimal range. --- You’re already on the right path by checking your levels! With these adjustments, you should start seeing improvements in your hair and overall health. 😊➡️ For more personalized advice, check out www.advancedtrichology.com/. 💪

Can we get blood test of TESTOSTERONE snd ESTRADIOL while on Finasteride for 2weeks
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 3 ай бұрын
Yes, you can definitely get blood tests for **testosterone** and **estradiol** while on finasteride, even after just two weeks of use. However, here's what to keep in mind: 💡 **Finasteride’s impact on hormones**: - **Testosterone levels**: Finasteride works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This means that while DHT levels drop, you may see a **slight increase in testosterone**. After just two weeks, changes may not be significant, but testing could show a small shift. - **Estradiol levels**: Some people experience a mild rise in estradiol (a form of estrogen) while on finasteride, especially after longer use, but changes within the first couple of weeks are usually minimal. While two weeks might not be enough time to see major shifts, a blood test could still show some early changes. If you're looking for the most accurate picture of how finasteride affects your hormone levels, it’s generally recommended to test after a longer period (e.g., 6-12 weeks). Always check with your healthcare provider to discuss the timing of your tests based on your treatment goals! 😊 ➡️ Reach out to us at www.advancedtrichology.com/ for more personalized advice or support! 🌿

Plss make a video about hairloss due to wearing headscarf
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 3 ай бұрын
That’s a great idea! 😊 Hair loss from wearing a headscarf is something many people wonder about, and a video could really help clarify the situation. To give you a quick overview, **traction alopecia** can happen when hair is pulled too tightly over long periods, which can sometimes happen with headscarves or tight hairstyles. But the good news is that it’s usually preventable and treatable if caught early! Here’s what we’d cover in the video: - **How tight styling or head coverings can cause hair loss** (traction alopecia). - **Tips to prevent hair damage** while still wearing your headscarf comfortably: - Loosen the fit to reduce strain on the hairline. - Choose softer, breathable fabrics. 🌬️ - Give your scalp some breaks when possible. - **Treatment options** if you’re already experiencing hair loss. This video would definitely help a lot of people! In the meantime, if you need more advice, feel free to reach out. ➡️ Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/) for more tips!

Hey! Thanks for reaching out 😊. Hypothyroidism can definitely take a toll on your hair, but it sounds like you're already on the right track with your supplements. Here are a few more things you could try to help with the dryness and breakage: - **Moisturizing treatments** 💧: Use a deep conditioning mask or oil (like argan or coconut oil) weekly to keep your hair hydrated and less prone to breakage. - **Gentle handling** 👐: Be super gentle when brushing or styling to avoid putting extra stress on your hair. Opt for a wide-tooth comb and avoid tight hairstyles. - **Protein treatments** 💪: A protein-rich hair mask every once in a while can help strengthen the strands and prevent further breakage. - **Hydrate from within** 🥤: Keep up with water intake, as internal hydration is key to healthy hair. - **Check your thyroid levels** 🧪: Make sure your thyroid meds are properly adjusted. When thyroid levels are stable, hair health can improve. It’s awesome that your hair loss has slowed down, and with a little extra care, you should start seeing even more progress! 💜 ➡️ For more personalized advice or treatments, reach out to us at www.advancedtrichology.com/. Dr Gaunitz...Hi. My young adult son from Canada paid to have a 1-hour consult with you about a year ago. We also bought some of your supp's & serum & had it shipped to us in Canada. His hair loss is super bad and he is just a young adult. You did not tell us in the video about blood labs where the numbers need to be on those labs. (How does it differ from the Canadian Labs)?..... even if you cannot answer the second question, can you please tell us where the numbers should be at least by USA standards... We will try to get the conversion on this side of the border. Help. He's only 26. Thank you kindly.

Hi there! I’m really sorry to hear about your son’s ongoing struggles with hair loss-especially at such a young age. It’s understandable that you’re looking for precise information to help guide his treatment. ### Key Blood Labs and Their Optimal Ranges (USA Standards): Here are some of the critical blood markers often associated with hair health, along with their optimal ranges in U.S. units: 1. **Ferritin (Iron Storage)** - **Optimal Range**: 70-100 ng/mL - **Importance**: Low ferritin levels are often associated with hair thinning, especially in younger individuals. 2. **Vitamin D** - **Optimal Range**: 50-70 ng/mL - **Importance**: Vitamin D plays a crucial role in hair follicle cycling. Deficiency can lead to hair loss. 3. **Thyroid Panel (TSH, Free T3, Free T4)** - **TSH**: 1.0-2.5 mIU/L - **Free T3**: 3.2-4.2 pg/mL - **Free T4**: 1.0-1.5 ng/dL - **Importance**: Thyroid imbalances, particularly hypothyroidism, can lead to hair thinning. 4. **Testosterone (Total and Free)** - **Total Testosterone**: 300-1000 ng/dL - **Free Testosterone**: 9-30 ng/dL - **Importance**: Imbalances, especially elevated levels of DHT (a derivative of testosterone), can contribute to male pattern baldness. 5. **DHT (Dihydrotestosterone)** - **Optimal Range**: 30-85 ng/dL - **Importance**: Elevated DHT is closely linked to androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness). 6. **Zinc** - **Optimal Range**: 70-120 µg/dL - **Importance**: Zinc is crucial for hair health, and deficiencies can lead to hair shedding. 7. **B12** - **Optimal Range**: 500-1000 pg/mL - **Importance**: B12 is vital for red blood cell production, which helps deliver oxygen to the hair follicles. ### Canadian vs. U.S. Lab Conversions: - The ranges I’ve provided are based on U.S. standards. Canadian labs may use different units or reference ranges. - **Conversion Resources**: You can use online conversion calculators or speak with a healthcare provider in Canada who can help convert U.S. units to Canadian standards. It's essential to ensure the labs are interpreted correctly based on local norms. ### Next Steps: - **Get the Blood Work**: If possible, have the blood work done locally in Canada and compare the results to the U.S. standards provided above. - **Follow-Up Consultation**: If you’re able, consider scheduling a follow-up consultation with Dr. Gaunitz or another trichologist to discuss the results and adjust treatment as necessary. Hair loss at a young age can be deeply concerning, but understanding these numbers and optimizing them can make a significant difference in your son's treatment plan. Wishing you both the best on this journey! 🌟 ➡️Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com](www.advancedtrichology.com/) if you need further assistance or to schedule a follow-up consultation.

Ive had FUT and stem cell injections in Phoenix AZ and im still losing my hair. I take DHT blockers. How do i get the right blood test before i end up with 3 hairs left on my head
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 4 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that you're still experiencing hair loss despite having undergone FUT and stem cell treatments, as well as taking DHT blockers. It sounds like you're doing everything you can to combat this, so getting the right blood tests is a crucial next step to understanding any underlying issues. ### Key Blood Tests to Consider: 1. **Comprehensive Hormone Panel**: - **DHT (Dihydrotestosterone)**: Even with DHT blockers, it's important to monitor your levels to ensure the medication is effective. - **Total Testosterone**: Check to ensure testosterone levels are within a healthy range since they can influence DHT production. - **Free Testosterone**: More sensitive to changes than total testosterone. 2. **Thyroid Function Tests**: - **TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)**: High levels could indicate hypothyroidism, which can cause hair thinning. - **Free T3 and Free T4**: These are the active hormones your body uses, and imbalances can affect hair health. 3. **Ferritin (Iron Storage)**: - **Ferritin Levels**: Aim for 70-100 ng/mL. Low ferritin is a common cause of hair thinning and can sometimes be overlooked, especially in men. 4. **Vitamin D**: - **25-Hydroxy Vitamin D**: Aim for 50-70 ng/mL. Vitamin D deficiency is linked to hair loss, and supplementing can help if levels are low. 5. **Zinc and Copper Levels**: - **Zinc**: Important for hair health, with a typical optimal range of 70-120 µg/dL. - **Copper**: Balance with zinc is crucial; a deficiency or excess in either can impact hair. 6. **B12 and Folate**: - **Vitamin B12**: Should be in the 500-1000 pg/mL range. B12 deficiencies can lead to hair thinning. - **Folate**: Works closely with B12 and is essential for healthy hair. 7. **Cortisol Levels**: - **Cortisol**: High levels of stress can lead to hair loss. A cortisol test might help identify if this is a factor. 8. **Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)**: - This can check liver and kidney function, which is important since your body’s ability to detoxify and metabolize nutrients affects hair health. ### Steps to Get These Tests: 1. **Consult with Your Primary Care Provider or a Trichologist**: Explain your ongoing hair loss despite treatments and request these specific blood tests. 2. **Direct-to-Consumer Labs**: If your healthcare provider is reluctant to order these tests or if you want to proceed without a prescription, you can use direct-to-consumer labs like Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, or online services like Everlywell to order these tests yourself. 3. **Interpretation**: Once you have your results, it might be beneficial to consult with a trichologist or a healthcare professional who specializes in hair loss to interpret the results and make a targeted treatment plan. ### Why This Matters: Getting the right blood tests can help pinpoint any underlying deficiencies or imbalances that might be contributing to your continued hair loss, even with treatments like FUT, stem cell injections, and DHT blockers. Addressing these issues might help slow or even reverse hair thinning. Hang in there-by getting these tests, you’re taking a proactive step toward better understanding and managing your hair health. 🌟 ➡️ Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com](www.advancedtrichology.com) if you need further guidance or want to set up a consultation for interpreting your test results.

You need to daily supplement for 3 months with these molecules: Cholecalciferol, DHA fatty acids, Curcumin, Resveratrol, Quercetin, Zinc, NAC, Gingerine, Epigallocatechin Gallate, Retinol, Liposomal Vitamin C, Sulphoraphane, Glutathione, Ubiquinol, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, Selenium, Biotin, Lithium, Palmitic Acid, Panax Ginseng, Metformine, Berberine, Methylfolate, Methylcobalamine, Betaine, Sodium Butyrate. They directly and indirectly target all the eight pathways involved with this condition by epigenetically nodulating the enzymes and antibodies that are impaired and it's impossible that you don't experience noticeable benefits from the aforementioned synergy

Dr, at what levels of dht should we consider taking finasteride because ALL of the above Bio Markers came well in range with DHT being 553 pg/mL. Now I don't have a clue why am I having severe hairfall. Please help!.
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 2 ай бұрын
A DHT level of 553 pg/mL is within the range that could potentially impact hair follicles, especially if you have a genetic predisposition to androgenetic alopecia (AGA). However, the “normal” range of DHT varies, and it’s not always a straightforward indicator of hair loss risk. Some people with genetically sensitive hair follicles can experience hair loss even at "normal" DHT levels. Here’s what to consider when thinking about finasteride: 1. **Genetic Sensitivity to DHT**: If AGA runs in your family, your hair follicles might be particularly sensitive to DHT, making finasteride potentially helpful, even with a DHT level that seems in range. 2. **Persistent Shedding**: Severe, ongoing shedding (telogen effluvium) can sometimes be due to other factors like stress, nutritional deficiencies, or inflammatory scalp conditions. Even with balanced bio-markers, it’s a good idea to look at overall lifestyle, diet, and scalp health. 3. **Alternative or Combined DHT Blockers**: If you’re hesitant to start finasteride, some people opt for topical DHT blockers (like saw palmetto, caffeine serums) to see if that helps reduce shedding before moving to oral options. Starting finasteride is best done under a dermatologist's guidance, especially if your shedding is severe. They can help monitor any changes in hair density and reassess DHT levels over time. ➡️ Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/)

Does inflammatory hair fall cause male pattern hair loss. I am 20. Guy
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist 3 ай бұрын
Hey there! 👋 Inflammatory hair loss and male pattern baldness (MPB) are actually two different things, but they can sometimes overlap. Male pattern hair loss (MPB) is mostly genetic and related to hormones like DHT. It tends to show up as thinning at the crown or a receding hairline. Inflammation, on the other hand, can trigger temporary hair loss (like telogen effluvium) or contribute to conditions like folliculitis. While inflammation alone doesn't "cause" MPB, it can worsen hair shedding, which might make your thinning more noticeable. At 20, if you're noticing thinning, it could be a mix of MPB starting early or something else. It's best to check with a specialist to nail down what's really going on. 🧐 ➡️Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/)

Hey there! 😊 It sounds like you’re going through a tough time, and I totally get how stressful hair shedding can be. Yes, certain medications, including antidepressants like clonazepam and quetiapine, can sometimes lead to *telogen effluvium* (temporary hair shedding). This type of hair loss happens when stress, illness, or medications push more hair follicles into the resting phase, causing shedding. The good news? *Telogen effluvium* is usually temporary! Your hair growth cycle often returns to normal once the trigger (like medication) is addressed. However, it’s still important to consult with a healthcare provider or trichologist to confirm this and rule out any other potential causes, like nutrient deficiencies or hormonal imbalances. As for solutions: - **Stay patient**-this condition often resolves within 6-12 months. - **Eat a balanced diet** with plenty of vitamins (especially Biotin, Iron, and Vitamin D). - **Minimize stress**, as it can worsen shedding. - Talk to your doctor about your medications to see if adjustments can be made without affecting your health. Hope this helps! 💪 You're not alone in this, and it’s great that you're taking action. ➡️Reach out to us at [www.advancedtrichology.com/](www.advancedtrichology.com/) for more personalized advice!
