So my iPad mini 4 was working great until the iPad OS 13 update came out, ever since that update my iPad mini has been slower and laggy when it comes to multitasking, opening apps, and rearranging apps. @@Shanboss277 there pricing has been a bit better in recent years but it's pretty clear that you pay a premium for the brand. It could be argued that that is for good reasons. And frankly the stability and convenience of their computers were worth that price for me for years. But over time I started to compare what I was spending and what I was getting (especially for laptops and desktop computers) and it didn't seem worth it when compared to many PCs with better specs and lower prices. It's good to see everyone bringing their prices down recently. Their are a multitude of reasons people chose one device over another. If Apple products are still the right choice for you then that's great. Just not for me anymore.

@@sandeepunni1663 hahaha ok bro. I had the pixel 2xl for 2 year after the iPhone 6s. I loved it... The whole time. Then got the one plus 7pro which is an epic phone. I've now had that for a year and it's just as fast and the screen is just as awesome. The software is great. Enjoy your notch and your 60 Hertz display and your slow charging. ;) Just kidding but it's silly to say Android is unusable after 3 months. Not every Android experience is the same. I'm sure some phones get laggy or have crap experiences. Definately they don't retain their value as long as iPhones. I for one love the customization and all the additional features. Some of that just finally came to iOS and people seem to be really enjoying it. iPhones as really stable and more secure and hade better video capabilities. It's really just a matter priorities. To me the experience has been better on Android. I was deep in the apple ecosystem for a decade. Had 5 different phones starting with the 2. Had an iMac and a MacBook and an iPad and an Apple watch. I used them for work and video editing etc. I get it. They are great devices. But I've now moved on to what for me are better devices and they are also more cost effective. Anyways... The whole android vs Apple thing is silly. They are basically different flavours of the same things. I just didn't like being stuck in the apple ecosystem and I felt like they were being manipulative and price gauging for a while. Anyways... Hope all is well in your world. Have a nice day.

yeah I got my 6s at launch and every major iOS update had degraded the battery massively. I was eligible for the random shutdown issue battery replacement and I got it 3 years ago but still after every update my battery went to shit. I’m on 14.0.1 now

When the iPhone X came out I preordered it. I had an old 6 Plus and the battery was lasting about 4 hours. It would get to like 20% and just shut off. I had worn that sucker out. But after seeing the notch in all it's glory I took the X back less than 24 hours after I got it and swapped it with a new 8 Plus. I was much happier. I even took the 6 Plus and got a new battery for it from a 3rd party. Now it lasts as long as the 8 Plus. But unfortunately due to my work being an iOS developer I had to recently purchase the 11 Pro Max for iOS 14 testing. I like the much larger screen, exactly the same body size as the 8 Plus, and thanks to dark mode I can mostly ignore the notch.

Every phone manufacturer does this, after every update they slow down your phone and damage your battery just a little so that you don’t notice right away and thus it’ll look like a natural over time thing and then when you complain they’ll tell you “ oh batteries degrade over time , processors slow down over time.....blah blah” I’ve bought a note 5 in 2015 and ran custom roms on it all the time and after 5 years, it was still fast, battery still fine, last for 4h of screen time and i gamed on it all the times, I guarantee if i hadn’t used custom roms and sticked with official updates, it wouldn’t have lasted this long.

The window where the update came without notice in the release notes was like less than 10 days. In a user base that size they needed the data to confirm the fix before announcing it. It literally extended the life of the devices and everyone got cheap batteries too. Talk about overkill with a payout now. A lot of people can’t register or claim for the settlement. Most of us are getting an error message along the lines of it not being in their database. Apparently if you bought the phones from a cell service provider, Apple does not have proper tracking on those phones or something. I tried all 3 of mine and none of them worked. I even tried the option with my Apple ID, and it says it’s not recognized.

I checked the website. If you never upgraded the phone to iOS 10 or above you are not eligible since you were not exposed to the software fix that throttled CPU when battery was degraded. I entered the device serial number and it was rejected. I had to read the fine print to see what the exceptions were. I never upgraded my 6 Plus beyond 9.3.3 because I wanted to retain one device on an older iOS so I could keep testing it for app compatibility plus I had some apps I wrote that were no longer compatible when iOS stopped supporting 32 bit apps. So no $25 for me. No big deal.

Il be honest, i find it hard to be overly mad at apple for that. It is a fact of lithium batteries that as they wear the internal resistance goes up. As this happens it becomes harder and harder for the battery to supply higher current draws without the voltage dipping down. And while in something like a cordless drill the voltage dipping would just cause the drill to go a bit slower. In the case of a phone or laptop or some other bit of tech. It will cause a sudden shutdown or that common thing where the battery jumps from like 50% to 5% in a nano second. I personally would much rather a device that is still usable but a bit slower than a device that every time i did anything intensive on it, it jumps to dead and shuts off.

Putting Tesla’s into a police fleet doesn’t factor into account the cost of repairs. Cop cars get damaged all the time.
