You might be surprised by the answer! In this video I walk you through how to setup an Alaskan Winch on a Granberg Alaskan Mill. The chainsaw mill is a 36” mill powered by a Stihl MS461 chainsaw. Yes you need one. Lol. I have a rigged up boat winch on my knock off mill. Grandburg mill and winch on order. Said it might take a few weeks. I also got the locks for the up and down arguments. Won't make ya much faster, but makes it easier for you.

The newer version has a nylon friction screw assembly that keeps the winch from unwinding on its own.

It really looks effortless with the winch compared to without it. that was a nice explanation of installing the winch. how do yo think it would work on a small mil?

I just put a boat winch on mine it worked better and a lot cheaper.
