I am a HUGE fan of Star Trek The Animated Series and own the entire collection on DVD. I'm one of those few who rank in as my Favorite of all the shows. There's just something about those 22 Episodes that was "lightning in a bottle". Simple, yet satisfying! It's My "comfort food"! The series had so many tropes that were used in the later series, even the newest. It was truly a series of "firsts".

There's a fan theory that both The Flintstones and The Jetsons take place concurrently, after a some kind of world cataclysm. The well-off members of society live in high-tech accomodations outside of the earth's atmosphere while the working class are forced to try and rebuild society on the surface. The theory would explain many things, not the least of which is all of the anachronistic technology in The Flintstones. But it would also easily explain the Christmas episode and the Star Trek Cocoa Pebbles commercial.

Not a stupid question at all. Yep, it was no longer part of ABC's primetime line-up. But...various versions of the program played on Saturday mornings during the 70s and 80s.

Looking back, I remember eating Cocoa Pebbles. I was okay because I was more partial to Cocoa Puffs. My parents, being more budget conscious about what to buy in the grocery store didn’t always buy the name brand products, but just the items that were close to the main brands because they were the same things but the quality was good. So, our family only bought and ate the supermarket brand. The Star Trek connection was a little unusual because in every episode of The Flintstones, every celebrity or celebrity fictional character had been parodied like Perry Masonary,(Perry Mason),Ann Margrock(Anne-Margaret)or Dracuslab( Dracula). The fact that they had Fred recognize Mr. Spock was interesting. The Great Gazoo might have shown Fred and Barney an episode of Star Trek somewhere during his visit. The world of Hanna-Barbera is vast and for cartoon characters in that franchise and others, they have unlimited possibilities.; or so we may be led to believe when we were kids. The Star Trek animated series was interesting. A little toned down compared to the live action series, but interesting and entertaining. I really enjoyed listening to the Power Records audio adaptations. I very rarely eat those cereals. I still watch cartoons from time to time on Saturdays and when I come home from work after working overnights. Those were the days.😀

I actually have a box of Fruity Pebbles in my house right now. I normally eat Cheerios for breakfast every morning, but once in a while, I find the taste a little bland. It's then that I reached for that pure sugar goodness. I tossed a little bit of fruity pebbles into the bowl, and mixed it with the Cheerios, and the combination was really good. I didn't want to overpower my breakfast with sugar, so I only used a little bit. But with this combination, a little bit goes a long way. It's really good! It made me wonder what other cereal combinations are out there that are good, and I'm intending to do more Cheerios experimentation. That cereal is pretty flavorless, and I'm willing to bet that it takes on the flavor of whatever you toss into it. So I now have the intention of doing more experiments to see what other cereal combinations there are, that aren't overpowering with sugar, but go well together. Cheerios plus a little sprinkle of Fruity Pebbles is awesome!

In the 1990s, there was a boom on the internet of animated content driven by softtware called Flash. Part of that boom was a series called "Stone Trek", created by Brian Matthews. It put Star Trek in the world of the Flintstones. One of the ways he attracted viewers was the opportunity to send photos and an audio sample, and he would animate you into an episode and kill you off as a Redshirt. I took advantage of that option and appeared in an episode called "Star Trekkin", based on the same song performed by The Firm. I get to be the first of six lucky redshirts in the episode. If there ever was to be a crossover between Star Trek and The Flintstones, this would have definitely been it. Enjoy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/e56QfmODhLyrY6M&ab_channel=Zizzily

So the Flintstones were on one of these "parallel evolution" planets that got visited by the Enterprise, and not on Earth at all.
@jdsundstrom2 жыл бұрын
That's one possible explanation.

Nah if that was the case Fred would be sporting a goatee.
@BasementBerean2 жыл бұрын
@@gravanon1577 Not parallel universe, but parallel evolution. Remember the TOS episode with the modern Romans? Or, the TOS episode with "Yangs" vs, "Comms" and the USA Pledge of Allegiance at the end. Or, the Nazi planet, or the 1920's gangster planet?

@@BasementBerean Yeah I could totally see Kirk and crew working with Fred to secure a supply of Rocklithium from the quarry Fred works at. All while trying to avoid violating the Prime Directive.

@@BasementBerean The Nazi and gangster planets weren't parallel evolution. They were caused by people from Earth interfering with an alien society.

1) Anybody remember the *"Jetsons"* branded cereal? I have had it at least once... 2) Someone created a parody series of short films constituting the "Flintstones" *version* of "Star Trek", if it was a show in *their* reality.

What I also found silly was the Flintstones Christmas special. After all, the birth of Christ hasn't happened yet during the supposed Flintstones time period.
