Do YOU remember THESE FRAGRANCES!?

Hi There!!! Today I have all of the most antique/vintage/classic perfumes in my collection. Most of these have been with me since I was a teenager and some even since I was a kid! (These are not from my Vintage Minis Collection). This video took a lot of unexpected turns and I ended up talking about a lot of things that are not necessarily fragrance related, but things I wanted to talk about. It gets a little hectic. At one point a WIG gets involved!! LOL! And of course there'll be DANCING, but no crying today!!

It was hard for me to lose my mom in my late 20's but man, if I was only 15 I have no idea how I would have dealt with that. A lot of us are about your age and we have stories too, we understand 🤗 My mom worked in insurance back in the 70s and 80s and guess what? She had a side hustle too! She worked at Broadway ( or was it Bullocks?😆) in Westwood in the evenings and weekends. She would come home and change into her department store sales lady outfit ( you had to be pretty back then!) and head up Wilshire and on over to Westwood. Love and miss our hard working moms! Hi Maccar!!! I KNOW, RIGHT??? I love them too. I see an upcoming takeover of solid perfumes in the coming years....maybe. LOL! I do think it's an amazing art form. There are some great ones from companies like Estee Lauder but it's sad because once you use them up, they're pretty much gone forever! I love that your grandmother wore solid perfume necklaces! One of my friends had an allergic reaction to Chanel no5 so she gave me the whole set with body powder ,body lotion and 100 EDP ,I still have some of the perfume left and the body powder with puff !! It’s so amazing to wear to bed ( as long as your not allergic to it LOL

I remember loving bangles. I always thought it was so cool when they would clink together. My mother-in-law has very delicate skin like you. If she just lightly bumps or brushes herself against something, she will get a bruise right away like you do.

Well it's because of whatever this illness is. The doctors still are not sure but I believe they are getting close to a firm diagnosis. I mainly am happy that I'm not in so much pain anymore and that I am mobile again because for a while I was pretty torn up!! Did not know if I was coming back to the world of the living anymore! I drove yesterday for the first time in the last year and a half! It was awesome to feel that freedom again. Just the ability to be able to take yourself somewhere is a gift! Thanks again EDK!

Plumeria also known as frangipani is such an amazing smell ,when we went to Cuba ,the Gardner used to pick a fresh flower for me each morning for my hair ,it would be on my veranda when I got up in the morning ❤ so sweet but he was just looking for a tip LOL

I have Chanel No 5 EDT and EDP. I like wearing the EDT to bed sometimes. It’s quite cosy I think. And I’m familiar with the cologne that was really nice too.

White linen was one of the first perfumes I bought when I came to Canada and I have such fond memories of it ❤I was either pregnant with my first child or it was when he was a baby ❤

I loved the original Bill Blass!! it was a powerhouse scent, but you are right, I wore it all the time and would get compliments, but I couldn’t smell it that much on myself. So nice that you have all those gems in your collection.⭐️✨⭐️✨

YES, it's the SPLASH with that cute cap! I feel like no one does splashes anymore. It's okay with me since I'm mostly a spray girl but it was still cool that splashes used to be available. Do you remember selling them? They were always the least expensive entry into a fragrance. I think we sold the Oscar splash starting at $35 but the spray at $48 to start so it was a nice option to spend less to try the fragrance. It seems like today I never see splashes for sals, not so much.❓❓❓

My Mom sold Avon when I was a kid and I would help her make up orders ,I wish I still had the little animal bottles of perfume she got me ,I was obsessed with perfume from a very early age ( do you remember the giraffe 🦒 and the little deer 🦌 ?

OH HOW COOL!!! You have a similar memory to mine then!! Helping your mom fill the Avon orders!!! I don't remember little animal bottles from Avon though, I would have been pretty excited about those! I remember a few bottles, I think a blue bottle of Sweet Honesty? I see people selling old Avon bottles on Kijiji and it's fun just to look at them! I have an Avon perfumes mug. It has like five or so perfumes pictured on it including California #1. Are you familiar with it? Thanks again!

I just found out yesterday that I have to have heart surgery. My aortic valve is severely affected. They will end up replacing it. My father kept working until he was 69 so my mom would have insurance (actually he went back to work at 70 and worked until he was 91); my mom had two valves replaced at age 62 and lived another 19 years. I got a sample of Ysatis at a perfume counter in Barbados, a vacation mom and I went on in 1995...she adored travel and saved her money toward it. I love hearing your stories about your mom and your life!

I am glad that you don't mind me going on and on about my mom but as it turns out she was a large part of my love for fragrance and cosmetics! Another wonderful video Bo! Thank you for sharing all of this knowledge, experience and memories. It sounds like you loved your mother very much, I think that’s beautiful. My mom passed when I was only 12 and I miss her deeply, she was lovely and very feminine, and I’m pretty sure she’s what started me on my love of floral perfumes because she herself loved and often wore them. You are so very kind Bo, that’s what keeps me coming back (and the perfume talk and dance breaks too of course! 😉). I don’t remember everything that she wore, but she often used Red Door and Borghese’s Il Bascio, and I think at one point Tresor, all fragrances I also wear and enjoy myself. 💐 🎀 ✨

@@60scinema As I remember it, it's one of those sexy classy fragrances along the lines of First by Van Cleef & Arpels, Chanel #5, or Norell by Norman Norell. Those sophisticated types of fragrances,that's what Di Borghese smells like to me. It's (probably aldehydic because I love aldehydes) But I don't know if they're still making it. I know Il Bacio is still available cuz it's on my wish list over at FragranceBuyCanada! Talk soon!!

Ysatis was signature sent for me for a while. I saved and saved to get that fragrance. Love at first sniff. And I prefer the vintage over the new formulation, which I have. 🎉 Yaaay!

Hi EDK! Yes it's a beautiful strong floral. I think it might be aldehydic but I don't remember for sure. If you like Giorgio or Original Oscar it's a good bet you will like Design. I've seen it at TJ Max in the US for like under $20 bux and the bottle it's in is prettier than the old bottles we used to sell. I smelled it and it does seem to still smell the same as I remember! I have not seen it anywhere in Canada though. Thanks for all the great comments EDK!!😁😁😁

I grew up rural and the only perfumes I got to experience growing up were Avon. Trying to educate myself on the classics. I love Anais Anais and seem to really enjoy aldyhedic scents. Would love to try Rive Gauche, Ivoire, L'air du Temps, Je Reviens and a few others. White Shoulders is also on my list but my Grandmother wore it and I do not have fond memories of that woman. 😂

Hi Rachel! I just now am getting all your great comments! It's so nice of you! Wow I love knowing that growing up rural you only had Avon. That never occurred to me that Avon filled those voids where no one had any fragrances or beauty products readily available to them! I love and respect Avon too! I love L'air and want to get a new bottle of it. Here'a a fun fact, I heard that the comedienne Carol Burnett wears or used to wear Rive Gauche. I am so sorry to hear that you don't have good memories of your grandmother and White Shoulders is sour for you now, I do get a lot of stories like that where people remember a fragrance negatively due to the association with someone who they had a bad experience with! @talktothehandreviews The human brain is a fascinating thing. I can remember all the lyrics to any song from 30 years ago, but I can't remember basic multiplication tables to save my life. Most creative people are horrible with math though. It's also odd how something so simple, like the smell of mall pretzels or cherry chapstick, instantly remind you of your childhood. THANK YOU!!! Hey I love how you leave so many comments!! Thanks!! Yes words can't express how thankful I am to have been given the gift of Canada! I was talking to one of my doctors the other day and she said that she is also thankful to live in Canada and she's Canadian married to an American but would never leave Canada! I need to say of course that I love the United States but there are some issues that need to be dealt with. Unfortunately I don't think my mother country will ever be able to switch away from the for-profit health care system because it's already too deeply ingrained! I'm vigilant of anyone trying that on here in Canada because a lot of people are oblivious to how great they have it! I try to let as many people as possible know about what happened to my mom in the for-profit system so they don't get the idea that they want to trade their Canadian health care in for the American style health care system!!!
