And because of time, it seems that is all that the person is asking. But really it's a question of whether or not it IS right, not whether the Bible says it's right. And that's harder to answer because that's a question of whether you want to accept the Bible as a consistent source of truth, which it is not.

So why would you bother asking a Christian apologist whether he agrees with the bible or not? Meaning that it can not be "right" or "wrong," because it is merely a matter of subjective opinion. I can be almost 99% sure that the thought of sex with your parents or siblings is utterly and totally disgusting and gut-wrenchingly so... I say 99% because you could be involved in incest... The only things we do that are involuntary are breathing, blinking and heart beating and blood flow... I could be wrong on this last point, but I would go so far as to assert that we feel voluntarily (meaning stimuli interacting with our skin) because one can be placed in a sensory deprivation tank and then we would no t "feel" sensations. But again, there are potentially 10,000 holes in that logic...

There is a big difference between being tempted (Like Jesus himself was for 40 days in the desert) and contemplating or fantasizing about sinning. When the thoughts of lust enter your mind do you immediately cast them out or do you entertain them? +Saved by Grace Have you ever found a woman attractive? I know I have, plenty of them. There is nothing wrong with finding someone attractive. Otherwise finding someone to marry would be pretty hard because usually you want each party to find the other attractive before they are married. Likewise, even if it's 2 members of the same sex finding each other attractive it's not a sin. That FEELING of finding someone attractive is not a sin, no matter the gender of the 2 parties. Lust is something different. It is thinking of/holding on to the feeling of wanting to sleep with a person. Just as finding someone attractive and its relation to sin does not depend on the 2 genders involved, likewise lust and its sinfulness does not depend on the genders involved. A man lusting after a woman is a sin, and a man lusting after a man is a sin. Regardless of the genders, it is a sin because it is lust.

I have several questions: 1. Why? And don't just say "because the Bible says so". Give me an actual reason. How does homosexuality actually _hurt_ anyone? 2. Actually, the Bible does not say anything like what this guy claims. While it contains opposition to specific behaviours, there's not broad unequivocal opposition to all sameseks behaviour. A few isolated statements have been blown out of proportion into an insidious kind of theology that pushes people away from God, not towards him. On the other contrary, Jesus says all God's commands are based on the command to honour God and do good to one another. Turek's views in this video misrepresent God and harm people (as you point out), so promoting them as he does is blatant immorality.

Define what love mean. I say that love does not necessarily involve sex. What I see is a culture so engrained with the fulfillment of our sexual desires that we can't even grasp the concept of chastity without feeling it as a wrong imposition. Furthermore, there are so many tendencies that may also be biologically influenced but do not necessarily translate into behaviors as we are able of acting opposed to our natural desires (is a pedophile, for exemple, guilty of their attraction or are they guilty for their action?) . Finally, if God says something is sinful and wrong, who am I to judge it on a moral perspective if I have no objective point of reference (as I have just claimed God is unjust in creating me in a certain way)? I would also add that God does not tempt neither can be tempted, but is our sinful nature which leads to temptation: our sinful desires are not rooted by God in us.

Respecting others is a golden rule but that doesn't mean you let them do anything as they please. Gay people deserves all the rights to live with dignity and contribute. But I believe our law should also respect the basic rules of nature and we are not suppose to give any different meaning to its imperfections . I agree Turek's answer was spot on. He separates attraction which is not a choice from action which is always a choice. The one thing that I hoped he could have touched on if there were more time allowed is how even lust (unfettered desire) is not the same as attraction. Say for example I am attracted to wealth. That attraction in and of itself is not a sin, we know, because there are plenty of wealthy people in the Bible whom God blessed with abundance. But if I start to crave wealth to the point where I will sin in my heart (envy/coveting) or sin with my hand (stealing), then that attraction has gone too far. . There's a sharp distinction between natural attraction that produces righteous desires and evil desires that over the long-run lead to evil acts. This is why Jesus says that if a man looks at a woman with lust, he has committed adultery in his heart. Lust is the sin of adultery in the mind; fornication by or with a married person is the sin of adultery in the body. One sin (adultery) manifests itself in two different ways. But I can look at a woman and think, "Wow, she is really a beautiful human being physically; praise God for his gift of physical beauty!" and there is no sin. My nature attraction to women is not sinful; rather, it is God-pleasing in that it led me to my spouse of 22 years, which according to his plan has formed a marriage that has produced 3 God-fearing children.

i don't think that's quite right. it didn't specifically condemn either. the old testament had a prohibition on a man doing it with a male in the same way he does it with a woman. i imagine "male" would have included minors, adolescents and adults. there is also an obscure word in the new testament whose meaning is unclear, but given what we know about the culture, what was common was pederasty and use of male prostitoots, but neither of these were exactly the same as pedofilia or homosecsuality. the trouble here is that you're trying to impose modern concepts on texts written in cultures from thousands of years ago, which doesn't work.

It’s like the main thing that I yearn for and crave with all of my heart is the one thing I know that I cannot have or experience because it is sin. I would just ask Christians to have a little bit more compassion for those of us who suffer from this condition and not continue to heap on the judgment. I would not wish this condition on anyone.

Think of it this way: Lust is never approved in the Bible unless it's between man and wife. That said, there is nothing wrong with a man seeing an attractive woman, the problem comes from when he dwells on how attractive that woman is and letting his thoughts go from there, that's lust. It's the same for same sex cases. If a man see's another man and thinks to himself "that guy is attractive." that is not the problem, the problem appears to be if the guy thinks "he's attractive" and then goes through fantasizing and so forth and lusting after the person. The Bible is all about love, but lusting after someone you don't have a right to lust after is not love.

The problem would then be asking yourself if you're OK with having these type of thoughts. "I find that man attractive" isn't a thought you should keep in your mind for too long or even think of it often. Thoughts can betray us, just like emotions, if we let them go too far. Which is why I'd argue that having these type of thoughts linger in your mind for too long is not alright, even if it doesnt lead to an action.

There must be a distinction between having temptation and giving into temptation. We could never achieve righteous behavior, we could never walk in the presence of the Lord. Friends of Dorothy have ranked their happiness with life far lower than people living a traditional lifestyle. And that’s even when controlling for time period and location. Instances of severe genetic related mental illness is higher amongst this population than the average population. As is instance of both having been a victim of as well as a perpetrator of sexual crimes. Polls amongst this population are consistent in this fact regardless of the researcher. And it’s actually to the point where some publications in favor of this lifestyle actually blame the children involved for essentially “asking for it”. This is further backed up by the fact that this community now outright targets kids for conversion of both mind and body. Rates of domestic abuse, cheating, disease, sexual dissatisfaction, drug use, and other self destructive behaviors are much higher in this population than the average. Additionally it’s been found in experiments with lab rats that rates of this kind of behavior go up when there is essentially nothing to fight over in society. When there is an abundance of food, space, shelter, and other necessities behaviors considered normal and even necessary for the healthy continuation of the species begin to degrade. It’s called behavioral sink and it’s a trend that can be seen in the real world. Rates of behavioral sink are higher in excessively abundant countries vs poorer ones as well as the collapse of historical nations and the abundance of this kind of behavior amongst the ultra wealthy throughout history. Whether it’s an aberration caused by trauma, hormones, society, etc. it has clear disadvantages not only to the individual but to the society they are in and signals a dangerous level of unchecked decadence that almost universally results in the destruction of whatever society is become abundant in.

If a relationship is doing nothing to hurt anyone and is consensual, mutually respectful, faithful, caring, etc., then there is nothing wrong with it. Why it's frowned upon and considered sinful: Early in its history, the church developed the idea that secs is specifically only for making babies. Two men/women can't make a baby so this makes it wrong, but it's just as wrong as say husband and wife having oral secs. The protestant branch of the church discarded this idea - since after all it's not in the Bible. But a mistranslation in the Bible led them to think that same-secs acts were inherently wrong. So they replaced the traditional view with the modern view presented in this video. So Catholics think it's wrong because it's non-reproductive, and protestants think it's wrong because of a mistranslation in the Bible.
