Or, they ask legitimate questions and answers with deferential answers. He defers to the Bible, because he interprets the question to be about what the Bible says. And because of time, it seems that is all that the person is asking. But really it's a question of whether or not it IS right, not whether the Bible says it's right. And that's harder to answer because that's a question of whether you want to accept the Bible as a consistent source of truth, which it is not.
@TristanHayes4 жыл бұрын
@@SwordTune If you were a Christian like Dr. Turek then you would have to accept the Bible as divinely inspired scripture and the inerrant word of God. So why would you bother asking a Christian apologist whether he agrees with the bible or not? Dr. Turek has articulated his opinion again and again that there is no moral authority besides God and that morality can't exist without God, otherwise "morality" would be purely subjective opinion on what a person or group of persons prefer. Meaning that it can not be "right" or "wrong," because it is merely a matter of subjective opinion. So if a man believes there can be no moral authority besides God and that God's divinely inspired and inerrant scripture states something to be the case, from that line of reasoning it IS the case. "it's a question of whether or not it IS right, not whether the Bible says it's right." These therefore, are the same, whether or not it IS right and whether or not the Bible says it IS right are one and the same from a Christian perspective.

Ludvig Burman lust is not involuntary... You consciously decide to look at an attractive woman or man and then consider what you would do with that person sexually... On the other hand, you could look away until that thought subsides... Because I'm pretty sure you are an attractive person and your parents are probably attractive people also... If you have any siblings...I think it's safe to say that they are attractive as well... I can be almost 99% sure that the thought of sex with your parents or siblings is utterly and totally disgusting and gut-wrenchingly so... I say 99% because you could be involved in incest... However, if you are not (and I'm pretty sure you are not) then, it's 100%... Please don't make excuses for bad behavior... The only things we do that are involuntary are breathing, blinking and heart beating and blood flow... I could be wrong on this last point, but I would go so far as to assert that we feel voluntarily (meaning stimuli interacting with our skin) because one can be placed in a sensory deprivation tank and then we would no t "feel" sensations. But again, there are potentially 10,000 holes in that logic...

Again I will tell you. If I am in love with another guy and we practice sex and only good feelings occur, why this is sin? Because your Bible says so? So if there was no Bible or God there wouldn't be justice or concepts or right or wrong. No it isn't, and the fact is that homosexuality has always existed. And I remind you that many heterosexual people practice oral, anal sex, orgies and so on. The fact is the world is becoming more sexualixed than ever, and also in the country "under" God. Do you know that here in Europe many people are agnostics or atheist or just don't care a damn about your religion and their societies are modern and fair and criminality is very low (and so on!). Maybe because we don't need prayers and base our morality in other standards. We think by ourselves, i don't need an owner of my mind. I create my reality every day. You have a real problem in the States, when we look at you, we, believe it or not, think "these americans are crazy". Guns, wars, criminality, ignorance, aggressive materialism, stupid icons (superbowl!??), racism, terrible health care... Yes we also have part of this stupid behaviors but we're not giving lessons day and night to other nations. It seems you haven't learnt anything from your wise scriptures. Or maybe that is the result of following them. Go to Alabama or Oklahoma and tell me why they're not the best examples for humankind when it's full of religious people. Me, an atheist would be considered a non-citizen (non-patriot too) by the former President, Bush. That's racists, stupid and inmoral. Crazy. Goodness is not a question of belief, is a question of who you are, and how you behave. Period. And homosexuality is an sexual orientation, and if there is a God, then he should accept it because there are hundred of millions of them who haven't decided to be so (why he created the world this way??). Because sexual orientation is not something you can easily change. You're blaming, insulting all of them just because you have a different concept of sin. And in some countries they're prosecuted and killed, and be sure it's because a religious thinking. Why do you think of that? Atrocious.
@gchova7 жыл бұрын
I didn't want to assume you behave the same as many other christians who hate homosexuals. If you understood that, I apologize. But I have heard and read many hateful words against homosexuals one million times and that's horrible. By the way, here there are homosexuals, they don't have problems with their sexuality, their friends accept them, I accept them, everybody is happy and no harm is produced, so please don't come here and try to i ntroduce your morality to convert everybody in sinners. We are far from accepting you beliefs. It's your opinion. I don't care about your God, I don't believe in it so for me that's not an valid argument, in fact is a zero-argument. I know about fine-tuned universe and about the complexity of DNA but even those arguments being solid and acceptable (we can discuss that for long) that doesn't mean that they point to a judeo-christian God. Remember that a good percentage of scientists are atheists, and those who believe don't necessarily follow religions tenets. I'm 100% atheist about religion gods but I open a door for an existence of a creator of the universe, I declare myself ignoran to answer that question. At least, I'm humble.

+Saved by Grace Have you ever found a woman attractive? I know I have, plenty of them. There is nothing wrong with finding someone attractive. Otherwise finding someone to marry would be pretty hard because usually you want each party to find the other attractive before they are married. Likewise, even if it's 2 members of the same sex finding each other attractive it's not a sin. That FEELING of finding someone attractive is not a sin, no matter the gender of the 2 parties. Lust is something different. It is thinking of/holding on to the feeling of wanting to sleep with a person. Just as finding someone attractive and its relation to sin does not depend on the 2 genders involved, likewise lust and its sinfulness does not depend on the genders involved. A man lusting after a woman is a sin, and a man lusting after a man is a sin. Regardless of the genders, it is a sin because it is lust.

So, if you're gay/lesbian, you ought to live your life without romance? You're not allowed to love because of a something that isn't even your fault? Or are you supposed to marry someone you aren't attracted to? Not being able to come out has caused many people depression and even suicide. I have a gay friend who has depression largely related to having homophobic parents. You people say you love all, and yet you tell others that their form of love is a sin. Define what love mean. I say that love does not necessarily involve sex. What I see is a culture so engrained with the fulfillment of our sexual desires that we can't even grasp the concept of chastity without feeling it as a wrong imposition. Furthermore, there are so many tendencies that may also be biologically influenced but do not necessarily translate into behaviors as we are able of acting opposed to our natural desires (is a pedophile, for exemple, guilty of their attraction or are they guilty for their action?) . Finally, if God says something is sinful and wrong, who am I to judge it on a moral perspective if I have no objective point of reference (as I have just claimed God is unjust in creating me in a certain way)? I would also add that God does not tempt neither can be tempted, but is our sinful nature which leads to temptation: our sinful desires are not rooted by God in us.

But I believe our law should also respect the basic rules of nature and we are not suppose to give any different meaning to its imperfections . Being gay is one of natures strange behaviour that IMO could be addressed with medical science through research and I think some of those self claimed gay people are just confused individuals. @sidwhiting6653 жыл бұрын
I agree Turek's answer was spot on. He separates attraction which is not a choice from action which is always a choice. The one thing that I hoped he could have touched on if there were more time allowed is how even lust (unfettered desire) is not the same as attraction. Say for example I am attracted to wealth. That attraction in and of itself is not a sin, we know, because there are plenty of wealthy people in the Bible whom God blessed with abundance. But if I start to crave wealth to the point where I will sin in my heart (envy/coveting) or sin with my hand (stealing), then that attraction has gone too far. . There's a sharp distinction between natural attraction that produces righteous desires and evil desires that over the long-run lead to evil acts. This is why Jesus says that if a man looks at a woman with lust, he has committed adultery in his heart. Lust is the sin of adultery in the mind; fornication by or with a married person is the sin of adultery in the body. One sin (adultery) manifests itself in two different ways. But I can look at a woman and think, "Wow, she is really a beautiful human being physically; praise God for his gift of physical beauty!" and there is no sin. My nature attraction to women is not sinful; rather, it is God-pleasing in that it led me to my spouse of 22 years, which according to his plan has formed a marriage that has produced 3 God-fearing children.

If you're not willing to tell me your own starting point for truth, then I can't present an argument you'll accept. This is just the nature of disagreement and debate, which apparently you don't want to engage in. It cannot go one way; you have to be willing to explain your own views as well.

@Nick Jones Fine, since I have no idea what your starting point is or your objections are, I'll just share a brief summary of my own reasoning. Obviously, you have much to learn in terms of how reasoning (much less argumentation) actually works, as none of the things I've said about your lack of sharing your opinion even needed mentioning beforehand because they're fundamental to any discussion. I know you won't find my response at all convincing, though. 1. I find the Biblical accounts of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection credible. 2. I believe the Bible's claim in Jesus' goodness because of the goodness He demonstrated in His life, as recorded in the gospels. 3. Because He demonstrated His goodness combined with His resurrection, I believe Jesus' claim that He is God incarnate. 4. Because Jesus is God incarnate, He has the authority to declare the truth, both factual and moral. 5. Jesus declared the correctness of the moral law in the Old Testament, though He did clarify that the methods of enforcement laid out were specific to Israel's government of the time rather than general commands for all Christians. 6. The Old Testament law explicitly forbids homosexuality. Now that I've wasted my time, perhaps you'd like to be specific so we can actually have a productive conversation.

I’m a 55 year old male who has only had same sex attraction my entire life. I know what the Bible says about it. I believe what the Bible says about it. I believe it to be a sin. Unfortunately for me, that means I never get to experience a loving relationship or sex because I have zero attraction towards females. I have never been in a relationship and I have heard Christians devouring homosexuals with their words my whole life. I’m going to be honest. It is a brutal reality for me. Just imagine never knowing love from a partner or spouse. It crushes my soul. I hate everything about homosexuality but don’t know how to make my desires go away. I can only deny them and subdue them but they won’t go away. I have prayed for years and begged to be delivered from them. I don’t even know if it’s possible. But to hear Christians constantly blasting homosexuality is almost too much. It’s like the main thing that I yearn for and crave with all of my heart is the one thing I know that I cannot have or experience because it is sin. I would just ask Christians to have a little bit more compassion for those of us who suffer from this condition and not continue to heap on the judgment. I would not wish this condition on anyone.

honest question, who does homosexuality hurt? It's two consenting adults doing their own thing, nobody's getting hurt or exploited, and nobody else has to care. If it's wrong just because it hurts God's sensibilities or whatever, then why did he allow it to exist in the first place? How can a god that embodies love arbitrarily condemn one specific form of love that's no less potent than any other?
@katamas8323 жыл бұрын
@☆ Óka's Otto ☆ No. NO. There's no difference between a heterosexual and a homosexual's relationship. Both are love. Both are indeed based on attraction, toward's one's look and personality alike. Yes, because such relation doesn't exist. Adam and Eve never existed, so this sentiment doesn't exist. If you think homosexuality is wrong, you are already homophobic, since that is prejudice. Ya can't avoid it by simply respecting them, you're simply better than the other homophobes.
@katamas8323 жыл бұрын
@☆ Óka's Otto ☆ You are allowed to have your own beliefs and opinions, but don't pretend for it to be anything other than what it is. It's not "your opinion is different than mine so it prejudice", no, it's prejudice regardless of me agreeing or not. Prejudice is "preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.", which fits anyone who thinks homosexuality is wrong, as that opinion is not based on reason or actual experience. Pretending like murder is on part with being gay is just proving my point. Also, btw, lying isn't always wrong. It can not only be amoral, but often the moral thing to do.
@katamas8323 жыл бұрын
@☆ Óka's Otto ☆ No, it's definitely not based on reason and not true. I won't just pretend like me and a flat earther just simply disagree. Likewise, I won't pretend me and a homophobe simply disagree. Why bring it up then lol. It's completely irrelevant. No, betraying someone's trust is when it is wrong to lie. But for example when something is too complicated to explain or the person would get upset for no reason, lying is perfectly justified, it's neutral. And it's definitely the right thing to do to lie when you give a person who intends to hurt another person the wrong location of that person. I have no idea what you're talking about there. I'm young, yes, but you seriously try to get personal by checking my channel and bring that up? I don't even follow fnaf anymore, my last video is 4 years old for crying out loud. This is simply an unnecessary attack on me, which is not a good tactic when conversing with someone. And is kind of pathetic.
@katamas8323 жыл бұрын
@☆ Óka's Otto ☆ You don't have to have sex with anyone, noone ever said otherwise. We're also not talking about just sex, but a loving relationship. You're indeed not homophobic for not engaging that way with the same sex. You're homophobic for what you have said before, such as homosexuals are only attracted to each other and don't love one another and thinking that homosexuality is wrong.
@katamas8323 жыл бұрын
@☆ Óka's Otto ☆ "We as members can't do that" now that's a statement that's not homophobic. The religion might be, but as long as you recognize it's a rule of the religion and don't try to say it applies outside of it, that's fine. Lust is not sexual relations, it is an extreme sexual desire. So let's just call it what it is: Your religion does not allow homosexuals to engage in sex and believe it is wrong. That's all, nothing else to add to that.

I'm not 100% convinced that "only having the attraction" is not wrong as long as it doesn't lead to an action. Where did he draw this conclusion from? Jesus was very concerned about us keeping our hearts clean so I don't understand how he can say "homosexuality isn't wrong as long as you don't practice it".
@captanblue8 жыл бұрын
Think of it this way: Lust is never approved in the Bible unless it's between man and wife. That said, there is nothing wrong with a man seeing an attractive woman, the problem comes from when he dwells on how attractive that woman is and letting his thoughts go from there, that's lust. It's the same for same sex cases. If a man see's another man and thinks to himself "that guy is attractive." that is not the problem, the problem appears to be if the guy thinks "he's attractive" and then goes through fantasizing and so forth and lusting after the person. The Bible is all about love, but lusting after someone you don't have a right to lust after is not love.
@the_justified8 жыл бұрын
The problem would then be asking yourself if you're OK with having these type of thoughts. "I find that man attractive" isn't a thought you should keep in your mind for too long or even think of it often. Thoughts can betray us, just like emotions, if we let them go too far. Which is why I'd argue that having these type of thoughts linger in your mind for too long is not alright, even if it doesnt lead to an action.
@captanblue8 жыл бұрын
yass beto M V Then we agree! I mentioned that it's not seeing someone attractive that is the problem, it's choosing to dwell on it that is the issue. Whether it be a man dwelling about a woman, another man, or anything else. It's not the initial thought that causes the problem, but what you choose to do after.
@loulie19977 жыл бұрын
But why is homosexuality different from your desire to sin? If we say that having a desire to sin and actually sinning are no different, then we can never aspire to be better than we are. There must be a distinction between having temptation and giving into temptation. We could never achieve righteous behavior, we could never walk in the presence of the Lord. Do you think a mother who tells their child "Don't eat the chocolate chip cookie on the counter" is going to care if the child wants to eat the cookie, or actually does eat the cookie?

This is further backed up by the fact that this community now outright targets kids for conversion of both mind and body. Rates of domestic abuse, cheating, disease, sexual dissatisfaction, drug use, and other self destructive behaviors are much higher in this population than the average. Additionally it’s been found in experiments with lab rats that rates of this kind of behavior go up when there is essentially nothing to fight over in society. When there is an abundance of food, space, shelter, and other necessities behaviors considered normal and even necessary for the healthy continuation of the species begin to degrade. It’s called behavioral sink and it’s a trend that can be seen in the real world. @@Roshan_Amal First question: A same-secs relationship is no more or less sinful than a straight relationship. If a relationship is doing nothing to hurt anyone and is consensual, mutually respectful, faithful, caring, etc., then there is nothing wrong with it. Why it's frowned upon and considered sinful: Early in its history, the church developed the idea that secs is specifically only for making babies. Two men/women can't make a baby so this makes it wrong, but it's just as wrong as say husband and wife having oral secs. The protestant branch of the church discarded this idea - since after all it's not in the Bible. But a mistranslation in the Bible led them to think that same-secs acts were inherently wrong. So they replaced the traditional view with the modern view presented in this video. So Catholics think it's wrong because it's non-reproductive, and protestants think it's wrong because of a mistranslation in the Bible.
