I wish dentist offices were required to hire a coder that knows how to Code medically necessary oral surgery with surgical codes instead of dental codes. This is a problem with every dentist I know.

Very well said! I really appreciate your candor and professionalism. I am finding I have to really work for my education, fight to find a CPC exam (within 200 miles of me) and now understand what you are saying about the job hunting. You have to really WANT this career! So far so good because I do not mind hard work, but I do need to be pain in the end and I think this will.

I have mild CP affecting my hand and therefore, I'm a slow typist. Would I realistically be able to keep up with coding and billing quotas? Registration and office assisting work seems easy by comparison.

You need to take classes and pass a certification exam though AAPC or AHIMA.
