Great worry pointers. Sometimes we are too hard on ourselves. If we focus on our faith going into each day, God will take care of us. He knows our uncertainties and worrisome feelings.

Thank you for putting your finger right where it’s needed, worrying about money. Especially the point on financially helping your adult children. You gave me peace of mind on that. I’d like to give them everything I have but am worried for a day that I need financial help and they can’t support me!

Thank you Margaret for covering the issues you do. I'm divorced 9 months after a 42 year marriage. At 62, this is a definite concern for me. Just love and look forward to your video with my morning coffee. Hugs!

That had to be very hard. Divorced after 30 years and while I am 90 percent well and over it ... the relationship and the consequences still can haunt me

I agree; I am a worrier. And yes, the fears are real. I lived in San Francisco for many years and I saw women change before my eyes as they lost more financial and material stability each year. Can you imagine a woman in a designer suit standing on the corner talking to herself. She's a little messy. Maybe she didn't have shelter last night. A year later, she's supplementing those beautiful clothes with things from the thrift stores and she's looking not so healthy. Finally, she is pushing a walker down the street and clearly is unwell. Not to scare anyone, but just to say it weighs more heavily on me, than it might have if I had a wonderful career and retirement program. So here I am in Thailand, well and a bit more secure. I can breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy just waking up in the morning without an alarm, being able to choose what I will do each day. I am learning to appreciate each day as it comes.

Like you, I grew up poor. So I worry about money more than anything. I’m lucky because I can retire with a full government pension after 37 yrs of employment. I know I’ll not run out as it pays until my death. My house was paid off but three years ago I had a string of bad luck and had two floods, one of which is not covered by insurance. I had several smaller maintenance items to replace. Long story short, I have a mortgage again. I could downsize a bit but it’s not how I expected life to Be at this age despite how hard I worked. Shit happens. I am also single so all falls on just me. Thanks for this important talk today.

What a great video Margaret! I believe you're speaking to most of us women out here. Thank you for mentioning the part about children and grandchildren and what we can or cannot give them. I am alone, semi-retired, have 2 married daughters, and 14 grandblessings! I have to be very conservative with gifts throughout the year....birthdays, Christmas, etc. But what really blesses my heart is knowing that they all understand and believe that material things are not as important as relationships and what we can give each other in those ways. When my parents were living, and in an assisted living facility, my Dad was so sad that because of the cost of their living, they could not leave my brother and me as much of an inheritance as he wanted. But the love we (my brother and I) had for them was much bigger and stronger than any $$ could possibly be. We insisted that it was THEIR money, and they needed to use it for THEIR care and needs. They were still able to leave us some, but what is most important to us is their legacy of love! Thanks again Margaret! ~Dianne

Hi Meg, yes I do worry about running out of money. I'm 62 yrs not on the pention yet. I have a medical problem, so I carnt go back to work. I let my son take money out of my credit card a few thousand , now he is struggling to pay it back. It comes back on me to pay the debt. I have cut the card up. I think I'm one of many. Is there anyone else from New Zealand watching sixty and me ? Thankyou again Margaret x Maureen

Mornings with Margaret. What a joy you are...such a source of inspiration and good old common sense delivered with gentleness and beauty. I have this thing about leaving my savings and home for my daughter. Living in Vancouver is a nightmare cost wise and there are many reasons why she and her SO cannot move. So Mum takes it all on. I am a fairly recent widow and seem to be guilt ridden for heavens knows what and why. I want to live my life but finances are definitely holding me back and maybe for no good reason. Xx

I am in credit card debt and it is worrying me. I lent a lot of money to my niece when she was going thru a divorce. Some was given back not all. Since I am still working it is not enough to live without dipping into an inheritance which is going by too fast. I am 72 and still working. Thank you for ur advice. I try and share myself with everyone by little gifts or whatever.

If you find your credit card debt is unbearable please seek help from a professional that can help you such as a debt attorney. I did and it really helped me.

My financial person said that many of the elderly are living so long, they're outliving their money. Living past 100 is no longer a rare occurrence. This is something people likely don't think about too much.

Yes! I worry about running out of money but not so much since I took these steps to secure my lifestyle during retirement: 1. Paying attention to where the market is before I invest in it, whether this is for real estate (my home or rentals) or stock or bond funds. 2. Creating income streams that are independent of my investments, including authoring a personal finance book for women, a financial blog, consulting and online programs, and an Amazon store. This keeps me feeling young because I always have to learn. 3. Tracking my net worth and cash flow better. Thank you for a video that addresses women and money!

Someone with a home and investments and net worth doesn't have the worry women on a small pension with no assets have. It's just not the same fear. It'sa very real fear for those of us with a small income.

My source of income is the rent from three condominiums I own in Southern California -- where the real estate and rental markets are booming right now. While I am by no means rich, I make enough to be comfortable. I have a disability that has always limited my ability to work, so I was quite poor throughout my adult life -- Until a few years ago, when I received an inheritance that enabled me to purchase the condos. My background has actually helped me not to worry overmuch about money, as I know I can get by on very little if I have to. Thank you once again for a relevant and thought-provoking conversation!

Thanks for talking about important and interesting topics on your show. I miss good conversation and have not yet built up a little circle of close friends. So, I watch and imagine we are just friends having coffee or tea in the morning, although it's really just me watching you. All the best to you. I really love your upbeat approach, even when you are discussing serious topics! Keep doing it!

Hi! How come your videos are for women, I'm not a woman but I think its pretty applicable for men as well. However......I do believe you are right about the worrying part, because being a man instead of worry I would do something about it cos worrying is kind of a hassle and "doing" makes it feel in control if you know what I mean. Anyway, nice vids, very good, although I'm a 53 year old man.
