I forgot to mention in the video; the reason we had to charge at this 6€ per night RV spot is because last week we had very little sun. Also we parked in the forest for 3 days. Guess we're not completely off-grid after all. I'll keep you updated on how it's going as we gain more experience over time.

I didn't catch if you mentioned if you guys have an alternator to charge your batteries from your engine while driving? It could be your last resort, run your engine or drive to your next spot to save you from having to stay at an RV park. How do you guys like having the multi-level flooring? It's a great idea with the huge storage drawers. I have planned in my sketchup to raise the floor on the whole box and make access hatches on the top of the floor to get to my storage. Some of these boxes are so tall, it's a great use of space to have floor storage (floorage). :D

We do have a dc to dc from engine to home batteries.. but it only charges at 50A 12v and 25a 24v. To get charged something noticeable in our 405ah setup takes a while;) We love the raised floor! Ours is around 30cm high so it’s an ‘active’ step. We notice when we have for example our parents over. They struggle a bit with such a step. We however hop on and off it without effort. Also, it provides extra seating which is cool.

@@NicoJona Can upgrade the alternator(s) to a bigger one? Not sure if that would work for your truck? Anyway, I love your house, and that washing machine was a great find!

This is one of the most impressive van life builds I've ever seen. The amount of features and the layout of the truck is amazing

Yes, this makes total sense and thank you took the time to go more indepth about the power consumption. As always a clear explanation and great editing. Keep it up

Thank you jonas, if you could make a video on how you installed everything, that would be awesome 🎉❤❤❤

Maybe we are not the best people to show that. There are other like far out ride & Greg vigroe that do a much better job ;)

Check for the difference between energy (measured in kwh) and power, (measured in watt). It's quiete simple once you get how it works. I write it because in the video you often interchange them 😉

Thanks for the advice!

Cool video. One recurring mistake throughout the video, Watt-Hours!!! Not Watts :P Watts are a measure of power, Watt-Hours are a measure of energy. My tip for the solar panels not providing enough. You should clean them in the morning. Even just a little dust particle on one panel can make your whole array produce half since you are only plugged in to a single MPPT!!!

Thanks for the English correction! Great! We had our first freezing nights and to be fair cleaning the solar panels did waaay less then we expected 🙈🙈

If the positive bus is +24 V, then the negative bus is 0 V. Because it the negative was -24 V (as is written on your negative bus bar with a marker), then you would have 48 V across both poles.

You’re right. Though the minus is just to remind me what is on that negative terminal.

@@NicoJona Wij hebben 6 x 340 watt peak panelen, 7920 watt accu's en ook een 3000 watt omvormer van Victron, tot nu toe gaat dat prima👍, maar de donkere dagen moeten nog komen🤔

Hey! How is your experience now, after the winter in Innsbruck? How much was your kWh averagage during the months dec-feb? I'm in the build of a truck same size, live in Bavaria and planned with 1,2kW solar and 5.5kW battery, so ruffly half of your setup... Thanks for sharing some insights, and thanks for the good inspirations you provide. All good to you! ❤

Hey :) If you want to talk a bit more in detail (also in German) drop us a message on instagram ;) But in general: nov-feb, 4 months in winter we needed to charge up 1x a week on a campsite. Another option would have been a generator, but we are not too keen on them 🫣 Also ready depends what you need to be running. We did not use any heavy appliances during that time of course like the dishwasher 🙈

Hallo Quirin, ich lebe auch in Bayern und plane gerade meinen LKW-Ausbau. Spätestens nächsten April geht es los. Werkstadt habe ich schon. Bist du vielleicht an einem Austausch interessiert?
@Jetiexperte20 күн бұрын
Hmm a bit confusing because you use the same measure of value for power consumption and battery capacity. Kwh vs. Kw/W
@slimanus8m Жыл бұрын
Aren't the 70 amp solar charger cap you below the max capacity of your solar panels?
@slimanus8m Жыл бұрын
Also, I would recommend putting the solar on the higher platform so you can pack the entire roof, you can easily fit 3500W...
