DO35 Offroad Coupling Installation

Great video!!! Hubby brought me home an early birthday present last night- the V3 plus!!! Good to hear the dust cover is better... we had an older DO35 on a previous camper and the cap would not stay on after a month 😵‍💫 now to hope and pray the bolt holes line up with the 2008 ball hitch on my van 😂

Did a little research. Looks like this is an Australian style hitch. Not sure the benefits over a simple ball though. Looks over complicated but who knows maybe better.

Ball can’t go to the same angles as this, in theory 360 degrees.

Its designed for off road use, a standard 50mm ball found on most trailers just don't have the freedom to move like one of these. I have a polly block style on my camper but looking at one of these so I can flip the tongue and gain some more hight at the front and still be able to open the back door on my Pajero.

Mate I have a hitch around 70 years old still going strong. Why change a perfectly good hitch for 2% improvement!

Hi, Any reason why you replaced the Alko Pin Coupling? I have the same Alko, and have had a bit of trouble uncoupling from the car.

I found the Al-Ko pin coupling didn't engage automatically anymore - the button on the side stopped popping out and I would have to physically pull it out. It wasn't a major hassle, but when the opportunity came to re-fit a DO35, following a few revisions to this coupling, I decided to go for it. The DO35 is probably still my favourite offroad coupling, though I know of quite a few people who love the Al-Ko unit and my experience was mostly positive.

noticed like mine it doesn't leave much thread left on the handbrake adjusted bolt when fitted.
