Great ideas. However I have one more safety suggestion. Be sure to use FOOD GRADE or FOOD SAFE mineral oil. Other types are known carcinogens. I would recommend coating the painted board with polyurathane to protect the paint. Polyurethane, when dried and cured, is considered food safe. Finally I enjoy seeing you using a cricuit, however I think a cameo would be better (LOL!)

If you wanted to get all the timber for free. Call your local sawmill. I own a sawmill and we giveaway,chip or burn. Our off cuts. The waste is a huge problem for mills. And most of us would rather give them away

I was having new maple stair treads put kn my front hallway and the carpenter’s assistant - who was his wife 😄 - surprised me with a gorgeous cutting board they made from a scrap piece of wood. They had rounded the edges and corners and smoothed the wood down so nicely. It was so nice of them to do it, as I’m sure I never would have thought of it.

I love this!! My husband is an arborist and when the crews cut down trees they bring tons of wood slabs home! I recommend stopping by a tree/arborist company yard and asking I'd they have scrap "cookies" (this slices of the trunk or larger pieces that they have cut! Love this video! ❤🌲
