if you want to train your dog to stick to you while chaos going around you like bicycles, runners, cars and etc passing by, you really need to teach your dog to prefer being next to you instead of chasing them. In order to do that, you have to teach your puppy to stay next to you and neglect all the things happening around him in his or her earlier ages. Like, take your dog to walk around the place you live but don't let him to get distracted. Every time he looks away or tries to chase something pull him towards yourself and tell him to stay close if he follows your commands then give a tasty treat. I trained my dog by asking my nephews to run around him and make noise. I started pulling him at first but after a while understand that sticking with you is advantageous. So, make sure you show him or her that he has to stay with you unless you let him go freely, and meanwhile give the puppy good appreciation.
@kamranmirzayev82954 жыл бұрын
P.S. I just can’t stress how important it is to teach your dog the yes and no command! I daily trained my dog so he can understand what is yes and what is no. Every time i feed my boy i tell him to wait and then once he moves towards it i say no and take back the food.. eventually, he understands it and waits until I fill the bowl and tell him yes to let him know that it is okay to eat now. Same goes with his toys. I toss the toy and tell him to wait and no, he waits and expects me to give him the yes command to go for it. This will help him to understand in the future to stop chasing someone or something if you tell him or her no. Thanks

I was so excited to get a shout out!!! I love your channel and get excited to watch as soon as I see it is posted. All terrific info. I learned about the Proplan kibble a little bit later after our vet recommended not using a grain free food. We just get the sport one in the purple bag because Moses gets so much exercise. Also, he is a bit over two years old and not neutered. If anyone is on the fence with that decision, we have had zero issues with Moses. One question from someone was about training treats. I Just buy chicken breast when it is on sale and boil it then cut into pieces. The dog loves it and I think it is cheaper. Those dog treats are pretty pricey. I will be looking up the Doberman Planet newsletter !!

Finally! Someone who doesn't train with E-collars! :) We moved to Europe from CA and e-collars are banned here. So every time I would look up US Doberman training videos, they'd use an E-collar. Nothing against people who use it but I wanted to make sure that I train and build my relationship with my dogs to where I didn't need one. Plus dobes are so sensitive, it's better to have discipline but motivate with postive methods. Anyway, just wanted to say love all the fun videos and your Doberman Planet website has really helped me in all things dobe.
@DobermanPlanet4 жыл бұрын
Thank you CTran... so glad you enjoyed it. I won't say I "never" will recommend an e-collar... but really I feel all other possible avenues should be explored first. Usually when someone feels an e-collar is the only method left to try, they've been lacking somewhere else in training and we can just fix that instead!

Nice video. Been watching you for some time now. I have a 7 year old dobe named Magellan. He's my pic. His grandfather won the Westminster 2007 best of breed. One thing that I don't hear much about and that you might be aware of is that some dobes run into foreign object ingestion. Unfortunately this can be fatal and repetitive if they are lucky to survive. Magellan has had multiple surgeries due to this. Also I highly recommend that dobe owners get pet insurance. Feel free to reach out and keep the videos coming. All the best!

Our Sasha is just over 3 months, I was horrified he could say such a thing as I'm with her 24/7 and we learn together everyday. I shared dobermanplanets page about this topic and told my husband to read it as his attitude towards her changed over night. 😤😡😡😡🤬

So sorry to hear that. Yes, a lot of people believe that because of how they're portrayed in movies and television. And to be fair, there were many "junk yard" type owners in the 70's who used owned these dogs. But things have certainly changed and the Doberman truly is one of the most loyal, dedicated, and loving dogs around. Good luck convincing your Aunt! Send her to some of my videos to see Arlo!

Exactly what Suzanne said... and start picking up the phone and calling too. Introduce yourself on the phone and be friendly with them. Ask questions about their breeding and be interested in them. They have such a high demand for their pups right now you really have to play a bit of a social game and get them to like you to get in with them. I hate saying it but it's the nature of the beast at the moment.

Oh man! So many great questions/answers! Guinness and Arlo have some things in common. Guinness loves his Jolly Ball too (and his Kong Wubba). Guinness and I are avid runners and use the Sport Dog brand e-collar when out for a run, and have for practically all of his 8 years. It has a beep, vibrate, and a shock. And I have only ONCE in 8 years used the shock (long story short, he distractedly ran into a busy intersection). I get a lot of comments about how good he is off leash, but I don't think most people realize it is NOT A FIX, not for pulling and certainly not for ignoring you when you call and that it took A TON of work and patience to get to the point where I feel 100% comfortable taking him down our People Trail, which can be pretty busy, off leash. It is a safety net, for Guinness and for the other people utilizing the trail. Before I ever put the wireless collar on, Guinness was a gentleman on leash. He does not pull. When I stop, he stops. When I say 'come' he comes, 'here' and he heels. I agree, your pooch should be dialed in before taking him in public off leash. I very, very seldom even have to use the even the 'beep' on the wireless collar. Even when he sees something small and fluffy that he REALLY wants to chase, a firm 'leave it' will have him refocusing back on our run. Even though I use the wireless collar, I also don't recommend it. At least not for just anyone. And, I as said, I don't believe it should be used as a fix. If your Dobe isn't coming when called, there are other things that need to be worked on. A trigger happy beeper finger can quite literally ruin a dog just as easily as protect him.

I have my first female EURO little girl, but my second Dobermann I was blessed with my joy boy for almost twelve years and we traveled and participated in a few canine sports around the country most of his life and had a blast. I was at first hesitant to get a female but 5 months after losing my joy boy this beautiful little girl 14 weeks from a solid breeder ESI and EMBARK with 7 generations of verified as not being carriers of xyz etc. She was amazing and dorky and very butch. I couldn't pass her up. She's very different than my joy boy so it's easier not to compare them have her living in his shadow but let her be her and I figured out that I needed to change up how I approached with regard to my methodologies and techniques in training her. I promise I'm getting to my point So my first female and I thought I'd done the responsible thing by doing massive amounts of research about differences between males and females physical and metal needs as well as the way you train and connect differently and OF COURSE the health and different health challenges that you face. The risks of Mammory Cancer vs the benefits of waiting one or two seasons before Spaying. One being the SEASONS which my plan was to Spay after her second SEASON with no intention of ever breeding her. **** BUT I WASN'T PREPARED OR HAD EVEN COME ACROSS THIS UNUSUAL AND UNIQUE CHALLENGE. PSEUDO PREGNANCY. I'm wondering if there's more advice or input from anyone that's actually been through this. So if there's any other Dobermann peeps that have gone through this I would love any advice or feedback. So my little girl had her GOD it's me MARGARET and she started her first SEASON which every phase seemed to take on the long end of duration as "could be". But during her DIESTRUS phase her vulva was normal size everything seemed to take a very long time but we were pretty much back to normal. BUT then her nipples were getting quite large no bags of milk but a slight squeeze of the furthest back teets they were producing milk! No possible way she got pregnant but in case there was a Virgin Birth about to happen I paid for tests and ultrasounds to be certain there was no Virginal Miracle happening. She's definitively not pregnant. What I did learn about was that she has PSEUDO PREGNANCY. Once that was settled I really dug into the science and research of it all and was shocked how few Vets even knew much about this dilemma. I know everything I'm going to say will sound insane. But when you think of the female biology and petuitary glands and how there are still sex hormones in the brain despite being spayed which is why the TIMING of when you decide to spay is incredibly nuanced and vital to get it right. I also learned that once you're intact female has this happen there's a higher chance they will suffer this at DIESTRUS or during ANESTRUS with every SEASON they have. EVEN lesser known and obscure is that even Spayed females can still suffer this phenomenon if there was any ovarian remnant or cervical stump remaining after being spayed. There is thought that this may be cause of the numerous Resource Guarding and Aggressive females that have been sprayed. They can suffer this if the spay takes place too soon after having a litter or too soon after Normal Season and it's most tricky if you spay that's bad timing after a PSEUDO PREGNANCY. To spay after a PSEUDO PREGNANCY is very tricky if you let it play out naturally which can take up to twice as long as if they were actually pregnant. And you still need to wait about 6 weeks after the PSEUDO PREGNANCY has resolved but not spay if your too close to the next SEASON begins. If you spay too soon after a PSEUDO PREGNANCY you likely will only extend the symptoms and this can become obsessive compulsive resource guarding and even tip into Aggression that becomes a learned behavior that remains long after the PSEUDO PREGNANCY has resolved. It's vital that you choose your spay timing perfectly. You can use a drug called CABERGOLINE if the symptoms start to be too much nesting and gathering stuffed toys pillows etc. Nipples producing milk. These are not alarming and if this is as far as it goes then the PSEUDO PREGNANCY may resolve over about 3 months time. The second you see Resource Guarding or Aggressive behaviors that's when you need to internment with the suggested 14 days of CABERGOLINE that will dry her up and put her into more of the ANESTRUS phase and it's safe to spay EXACTLY ON THE 7TH day to have the medication out of her system and time to see if the PSEUDO PREGNANCY is resolved milk dried up and nesting and whining etc have resolved then on early the 7th day after the last dose of CABERGOLINE you do the spay. The 7th day timing is because this drug is also used to INDUCE HEAT so there's very small windows to spay without having her GET STUCK IN A PSEUDO PREGNANCY for several months. And likely over such a lengthy time being stuck the Resource Guarding and Aggression are sure to make their appearance. And you cannot train or counter condition this as easily as you might think. You're messing with a "mother". You're up against instinct and hormones that are at a peak. More owners of spayed females need to know that if the spay was not COMPLETE this might explain some of your spayed females behavior that seems to be intermittent. It's so easy to find out by ultrasound if there's any ovarian remnant or cervical stump that remains and if so have them reminded. Yes it's a surgical procedure but it could save your females mental and physical stability as well as not have that be the reason you may lose her if the Aggressive behaviors go beyond what's manageable. It's cute when they start taking all their stuffed toys and soft toys or pillows etc and carrying them around like they are babies they start to nest (SPAYED or INTACT) this is a Red Flag and very possible it's a PSEUDO PREGNANCY. These behaviors can become OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE and your girl starts to Resource Guard these "babies" or the vicinity near by. This can turn into more aggressive behaviors. The more often these RG or showing any Aggression you should find a Reproductive Specialist or Vet that understands about ovarian remnants, stumps and the hormones of a female dog that the timing to do a spay or a corrective spay ****especially if it's a PSEUDO PREGNANCY case that the timing be pretty much perfect. It's best to try and let it resolve naturally but often it doesn't. If the symptoms start being OVERT you should consider the CABERGOLINE that is the symptoms have been mild but not improving over a few months you can do a shorter CABERGOLINE TREATMENT but if they've had OVERT SYMPTOMS like lactating or resource guarding or unusual aggression then you should treat with CABERGOLINE for 14 days and in either case if there's no symptoms remaining then 7 days after the last dose it's the only day and window to do a spay or corrective spay. The 7 days is to allow the medication to leave their bodies and a few days to be sure that no symptoms remain and if they remain then you need to retreat with the CABERGOLINE for a longer duration but the timing to spay will always be the 7th day after any CABERGOLINE treatment. If this goes on for so long that your female would be starting her next SEASON then you'll have some serious challenges in deciding what to do and sort it out with an actual REPRODUCTIVE SPECIALIST SEVERE cases your dog can display EVERY aspect as though they were pregnant even to the point of peeing more often having an enlarged belly and crazy as it sounds have contractions as though giving birth but morning comes out. This can be very devastating to your female no doubt. But to spay her during a PSEUDO PREGNANCY you could actually TRAP HER in that state for many many months which could and likely leave her in a hormonal state of confusion pretty much in a loop. The pituitary gland still sends signals to their brain even if it's the perfect spay but HORRIBLE TIMING. It's a fascinating phenomenon but not one that were enjoying gaming to go through and I thought of this could start a discussion there could be more awareness so folks aren't caught off guard and make detrimental choices. I've never posted on this site before and I'm not very tech savvy so I'm not sure I'll be able to see any responses but I sure hope so. PEACE TO ALL !

My male doberman(Zeus) is 4 years old. He is half Euro and half american. I never had his ears done. He actually has very small natural ears,they don't flop down the side of his head. He can pretty much hold them up on his own. I lease a farm that is 85 acres,I go there everyday and Zeus comes with me and my husband. He gets to run all over the place,trees,a nice large pond he loves to swim in and tons of room to run and play. He is fine with our dogs at home and other dogs he meets at other places we take him for leash walks. He is also pretty good around strangers unless they come close to my truck if I am sitting in it and my husband has gone into a store, then its back off. All in all he has been a great dog and is spoiled rotten. This is my first doberman and I plan on getting another one. When that time comes I will be asking for advice on some good breeders. Love this channel. Keep safe.

E-collars don't really shock from what I've seen. That_Enzo_And_Lotus guy said, "It's more like when you go to the chiropractor." I would use it because even though the dog is fully trained the dog will always have a trigger and if something hits that trigger and they run off and don't come when called you can quickly press the button for the collar. It doesn't shock. Awesome video can't wait for more.

I have 2 blue dobies. 1 (1yr 7mo) male who is blue on blue, he dont have the rust markings n 1 (2yr 8mo) female who is blue n rust. Im so glad I found ur channel. Iv learn quiet a bit watching. I find that my male sticks 2 me more than my female. So much so that he tends 2 get jealous. He also hates 4 any of the other dogs 2 sit n my lap 🙄 My female tends 2 stick 2 both my husband n I. Neither have their ears cropped. My husband says he wished he'd had them done. Of course its 2 late now. The 2 r so very different yet alot alike. I dont have a specific breed I lean toward more. Im an all kind of dogs person 😊 Along with the 2 dobies I have a boxer, beagle, pomeranian, n fiest/beagle. mix. Keep doing the Q&A videos, they r quiet helpful. Thanks 4 helping us along the way. B safe.

Our dobie girl was on proplan since she was little, after a bout of HOD, a fast growing breed problem, her tummy became ultra sensitive and we had to change her food. Would love it if you addressed more of the “growing pain” problems that can be seen in dobles. It can be very scary for owners!!!
