Did you know? In 1951, Hudson won the piston cup. HOWEVER, his racing number is 51. 51 won in 1951, its almost like it was destiny.

His number was 51 because he was a 1951 Hudson hornet, not because he won in 51. The Hudson hornet won 1st place of 1951, 1952, and 1953 and took second place in 1954 after being beat out of first by Lee Petty in his Oldsmobile 88

The real Fabulous Hudson Hornet was a 3 in a row champion of 1951, 1952, and 1953. The cars movie says he wrecked in 54 and they turned their back on him but that’s because it had to give doc some character development. In reality the Hudson hornet took second in the championship in 1954, getting beaten by Lee Petty in his Oldsmobile 88, the first V8 actually used in nascar Edit: I should also mention that 1954 was the last year there were true Hudson cars ever because in 1954 Hudson Motor Car Company was bought by Nash and later formed into American Motor Car company. The more you know!
