Forever a Tommy Emmanuel fan! In 2014, I went to Tommy's house in Tennessee, and knocked on his door. I had my Breedlove acoustic guitar in hand. He gladly invited me in, got me a chair, and jammed with me for a good bit. I showed him my attempts at his version of Classical Gas, then he flawlessly performed it for me, live, right in front of me. It was an unforgettable experience. Afterwards, he took me to his awards room, which was insanely full of nominations and best guitarist awards. After all this, he gave me one of his signature thumb picks and I left. The reason I'm posting this is to show that not only is he the best acoustic guitarist in the world today (my opinion of course), but he is also an amazing person to give me (a random fan) the time of day. I grew up listening to screaming guitarist's, like Eddie Van Halen and Joe Satriani and always will have an appreciation for electric guitar. But ever since I've come across Tommy on KZbin I've been blown away and amazed. So much so, that I've picked up an acoustic guitar and planning to take lessons to unlearn my electric style play and retrain for finger picking. Tommy has inspired my to take that guitar and get lost in it as I once use to do. I just love watching and listening to him play. Truly an amazing guitarist and person. Thanks!

Welcome to the club amigo! Been and still am a HUGE Rush fan along with most Progressive and Metal bands. Had a growing interest in learning more since watching Steve Howe's live performances on video. Watched "Stve Howe's version of Classic Gas one day and the playlist ran on without me noticing. Heard this amazing fingerstyle, acoustic slamming, percussive style, neck bending playing going on and was completely blown away! That was 5 years ago and I've barely even touched my electric since!

After 38 years I just retired and plan to focus strictly on thumb picking and Jazz. Tommy has put that fire back in my belly that I had years ago to live, eat and breath guitar! I used only play only electric (mostly hard rock and blues rock). After hearing/seeing Tommy, Martin Taylor and others, I have been learning this style and haven't picked up an electric in months. I don't miss it at all and thumb-picking is started to catch on. I love it!

A couple of years ago I watched Tommy live in Fort Myers, FL. I was about center of the stage and about 10 feet way. All I can say is MAN WHAT A NIGHT. I made my self a promise on the way home that night that I was going to learn to Travis pick or smash both my electrics. Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks didn't know this old 71 year old dog because I can SOMEWHAT Travis pick and having a ball learning and doing what I have learned using Tommy Emmanuel's Fingerstyle Milestones. It works

Tommy is the business, one of the greatest accoustic players still alive (thank the Lord, he got through the illness a few years ago) and I really would love to meet him. Some time ago, I had bought a ticket to see Chris Newman locally and Tommy was playing about 20 miles away. Chris suggested that he cancel the gig and we go see Tommy together. Never was sure whether he meant it or not, but the gig went on, I stayed, and will now have to wait to see Tommy another time. iLove the bot where the capo is taken off and thrown to the side to get the key change for Cannonball Rag.

I have always loved Tommy Manuel approach to music, as an artist, as a teacher, as a performer and he still has that fire in him and it seems to me that the man who basically knows it all when it comes to the guitar and he seems to learn some new every day. it is just his excitement that plays with and his genuineness to his audience. He laughs at himself and his mistakes and moves on. he is about willing to do anything. Yes, Tommy is one of my Hero's and has been for a very long time (sorry Tommy )

I've been playing for 17 years now and this is just one of those songs that you just sit down enjoy and laugh alone. Don't even atemp to play this, it's just unreachable. At least for me... I know I'll never get there but it's something to shoot for. I can do a lot of this about 1/2 this speed but I have a looooong way to go get anywhere close to Tommy. Meanwhile, I just love watching and hearing him and all like him play and do it with ease. I love throwing off the capo in about 1.2 seconds (@ 1:40) without missing a beat! Wow!

Totally natural to hold a pick on your thumb, and play insanely fast parts with 2 halves of your hands doing separate things. I've played Hard/Classic Rock (electric) and classical (nylon strings) for over half my life now but learning this style is like going back to Guitar Kindergarten for me!
