It's weird to think my mom, who is still alive, was a kid when Doc Scurlock was still alive.

Enjoyed the interview and have really been enjoying your channel. The two things of note to me in regards to this interview are first, Doc Scurlock likely never spoke of the events because killing someone even if you believe you are in the right just isn't something most people would want to think about let alone tell their family members about it. Secondly, I really really appreciate the fact that Scot Scurlock doesn't know much about Doc and he doesn't try to sell his spin on things or hint that the family has deep dark secrets they're holding back. He's a descendant of the man and that is all he claims. Very refreshing in a world where everyone with the slightest connection to Billy the Kid puts themselves out there as some kind of authority on the topic.

This is so refreshing to read....so thank you! Many people were disappointed in this interview saying "I didn't learn anything more about Doc", but you seemed to get it. This is the way Doc wanted it. He didn't want to speak about his early life because he probably wasn't proud of it...and he didn't burden his family with those memories either. I'm certain Doc could have written a book, or been interviewed for others.....but his principals kept him on the sidelines...That's the main takeaway from this interview, I think.

Huge Billy fan, always thought Doc was a lot like Billy. They both wanted to go straight! However, Billy didn't have the family Doc did. Billy was without complete family at all. Doc always was kind of Mysterious. I think he was a scrappy survivalist as much as the Kid is. Although Billy thought he had more friends than he did, and girlfriends to leave New Mexico. To him it was home and all he knew. Very mysterious character Doc is. In fact, all the Regulaters are special in their own way, which seems to be the everlasting appeal. Thanks for the opportunity, you guys have great conversation together. Love that he actually had Docs glasses!

Thanks! I agree. I just wonder if Doc ever pulled Billy aside and gave him some fatherly advice? I also wonder who sent the glasses!

@@MichaelAnthonyGiudicissi Being so young, it seems Billy would have to prove himself, which he did too good, and was always trying to seek revenge or retribution he thought was done too him. It would have been hard for him to leave, I would think yes Doc would have, just as Jesus Silva and others did. Billy was adaptable and could just start another group real easy. He was also use to seeing people die around him. He was loyal to the littlest things that gave him attention, even a Mexican friend or girlfriend. Someone in that Scurlock family is holding on to some real keep sake! Thanks for your channel it's the best! Download Xumo to watch you movie but could not find it. Hope you keep up the good work. It really seems like a lot of the traditional Billy fans are dying off. Someone needs to keep the mysterious truth going. Lol

As far as him looking like Doc, there is something about him that reminds me of him, maybe how he carries himself, and expressions. Thank you for sharing. I’m sure they would be surprised they live on in 2023, and when you think about it it’s weird! Lol my grandfather was born in 1900 and he would hate most modern things except the tv and heat and air the phone he would run it over lol!

I live 34 miles from Eastland, Texas Southwest of Eastland in the Town of Cross Plains, Texas. Doc Is one of my favorite Regulators. I don't know if you know this but Cross Plains is the home of Robert E. Howard the creator of Conan the Barbarian lived and killed himself here. on with the interview. It must have been a great honor to interview Scot. Just wish it had been in front of the camera

Doing family research today, I found that Doc Scurlock is my 2nd cousin 6 generations removed. His great grandfather John Joshua Scurlock is my 7th great grandfather. John moved to Georgia from Virgina. He and his wife Elizabeth had eight children

That would be something, I’ve always dig into our family genealogy. I had to interview my grandfather about him growing up in the depression. My daddy and both my grandfathers always watched westerns. My mother had gotten all these books so cowboys and Indians was always playing reading or something! Lol this is a great interview!!!

i like the interview but scot has to understand his great grandfather was a hero in my eyes murphy and dolan and brady and the rest of the law in lincoln was all thieves and killers and just corrupt and doc and the regulators was heros so scot needs to do his research

No disrespect intended, but this guy is the great grandson and his grandfather never talked about his father, so this fella knows about as much about Doc Scurlock as the next guy. Most of what we found out here is how he found he was related to Doc. Just not interesting. Good effort, worth a try, I guess.
