What you're hearing here is the playing of Arthel 'Doc' Watson and his son Merle. The late Doc Watson is a legend of the acoustic guitar world, first finding fame in the 1960s. He's playing two classic tunes from the great violin or 'fiddle' traditional music repertoire of America. Some of these tunes go back hundreds of years, originating from the British Isles, and some are recent compositions - such as 'Big Sandy', also known as 'Big Sandy River' or 'Cross the Big Sandy'. Explore bluegrass, old-time, western swing and Texas-style fiddle music - there's some amazing playing to be heard!
