maybe you should consider adding an emergency abort system wich kills all the raiders for example by flooding the killing chamber with lava or something. I don't know if that might break the farm but if it doesn't it sounds like it might be a good idea.

If you dispense an item into a cobweb it will center in the block, thus allowing for easy transport. (I use it to put items into cauldrons for transport via slime machines)

I know you briefly touched on this in the video, but I think condensing the drop area down from a 2x2 is the most needed improvement here. If you can consistently get hits in with the sword and you have sweeping edge then you shouldn't have any trouble killing them off quickly enough.

You should check out Ray's farm for an interesting way to avoid vex spawning altogether. Basically, ensure you're not attacking the evokers while not dealing lethal damage.

Hey Doc, you can use a brown Mooshroom cow, it is the best mob in the game: - milk -> (use normal bucket) - mushroom stew -> (use a wooden bowl) - suspicios stew -> (feed flower + wooden bowl) And the hippies built a flower farm right next Area 77!

I think the stress that comes with sandbox games--or any game in general--is what makes the end result feel more rewarding. With sandbox builders--Minecraft, Terraria, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Cities:Skylines, ect., it's that being done with a project and the going "yeah...I did that." Or you're like me and go try a tutorial for a farm and pull a Homer Simpson trying to build a Barbecue...

Once you put in a sorting system, the non-stacking items will be less of an issue, and you can get a better idea of the drops. I highly recommend a massive storage silo for non-stacking items, though. At least until you decide what you're going to do with them

Doc to deal with the fire from vex.... Water log the area where you stand somehow.... For example pour a water bucket and keep a slab behind to stop water and do it using a piston and dispenser... Like when you hit a lever the water comes in and the slab is pulled behind you

For dropping straight down I've been using cobwebs. I drop items from Ilmango's gold farm down to a single hopper on the nether roof and in my experience it works perfectly.

@@docm77 you could use the crossbows to smelt the iron axes. Gets rid of the crossbows and axes, and nets you a lot of iron. Would also recommend thorns 3 on the chest plate to help against the vexes.

i know doc- i mean ilmango, just had a design where an ice stream went over 3 soul sand blocks to slow enough to stack. I thought it was pretty innovative. Awesome to see what people can imagine in this game! cheers!

There is an even easier way to align items: drop them into a cobweb. The cobweb will kill all horizontal momentum before the item falls through the cobweb. This is also useful because you can point a dropper directly into a cobweb or you can put the cobweb at the end of a water stream.

Yeah. but no good here as it is so many unstackable items and it takes 20 secs to pass through the cobweb. Would build up a lot of items and cause lag.

@@docm77 Ahh good point about the unstackables creating lots of item entities. I've used the cobwebs before on high-output farms but they output mostly stackable items, so I never had an issue with too many item entities, and that possibility didn't cross my mind.

Sort of strange. As far as I can tell I built the item dropper as shown. If I throw items in the water stream one at a time (press Q, release, press Q, release, etc.) the items drop into a single spot. However, if I hold down Q and let the keyboard repeat function continually spam Q's, about half the items retain some momentum and land further away. (I built this in 1.14.4 vanilla creative) Using cobwebs I got an exact drop every time. You replied below and mentioned that the crossbows would cause a problem. Why? Does not each entity have its own individual time-to-drop-through-cobweb and the time is less than 5 minutes so they will not despawn. I filled a double chest above the start of the water stream, filled it with crossbows and then broke the chest. All the crossbows fell into the water stream and hit the end where I used a cobweb. After they dropped through I found all 54 crossbows in a single spot. Did I miss some other reason why cobwebs would not work?
