@@S-ClassCustoms I don't know why he would either. It has to be some truth in it somehow, he met someone and they wrote it together, Something because it makes no sense. Why pick that song if you going lie about a song? It was so unfortunate that David never wrote a memoir before he died. He always said he would one day. So many unanswered questions that only can be answered by him.

@@nataliep3038 David’s widow wrote a book, A Memoir: David Ruffin-My Temptation. She states that David wrote it and released the song in 1958 under the name Little Eddie Bush when he was 17. I read this on a website call Country Thang Daily. If this is true I don’t know why he wouldn’t of sued for authorship and royalties.

This was a huge hit in country music by Grand Ole Opry legend Jack Greene. Jack was the very first Male Vocalist of the Year for the CMA.. great songs are able to cross genre’s and this one certainly does.

After David left the Temps, I didn't follow his career much at all. Now I see that I have to go back through all of his solo stuff to re-aquaint myself with his amazing voice. Just to look at his face and physique on this performance you can clearly see the damage drug abuse had done to him....but his voice was still AMAZING!!! This was an incredible performance...David still had the goods. Imagine his career without drugs.

Its so sad how you cant watch a great performance by David without someone saying something about his addiction problem. By watching this, can you tell he does drugs ? No his.voice sounds above great, he never lost his ability to sing with his soul. He was an amazing singer whether or not he did drugs so lets focus on the bigger things, thanks.
