I'll give this to Halladay -- he was the last complete game pitcher EVER. I don't think there will ever be another pitcher that gets anywhere close to 70 CG for a career. He'll be the last to complete 9 games in multiple seasons. That man was an absolute Technician on the mound. 5 seasons with 9 or more instances of pitching into or beyond the 9th inning. That won't ever be ALLOWED again, even if a pitcher has the physical conditioning to do so.

@@shoukatsukai Unfortunately times have changed. Back in the old days pitchers were required to go the distance. That was part of determining whether or not they got a raise when it came time to negotiate a new contract, how their performance was for that particular year. Nowadays pitchers get yanked for a reliever after reaching a certain pitch count. Complete games are gone, the game winning rbi is no longer an official stat, scheduled doubleheaders are gone as well. The one thing about games that's changed for the worse is time. No longer are games finished in less than two hours; now we're lucky if a game gets finished in less than three hours.
