In the US, “Playing doctor” is an old expression for kissing and groping (palpating 😉), basically, as much fun as two people can have with their clothes still on. So part of the joke is, Sheldon doesn’t get that it’s a euphemism. Amy is dressed in a female science officer’s uniform from the Original Star Trek. The small device in one of her hands was canned a scanner, it spun and made that noise you heard. In her other hand is a “tricorder” which displayed and compiled the readings from the scanner.

Nice reaction, I love TBBT. "The Adhesive Duck Deficiency" is one of my top five episodes and I hope you watch this one in its entirety.🤓 In the U.S. there are typically urinals in men's restrooms so lid is not available. There are cubicles/stalls with doors and sit-down toilets too, but in public restrooms there are rarely lids.

I have a question that might be a spoiler alert. Is it even possible to dislocate your shoulder by slipping and falling in the shower? That's exactly what happened to Penny at the beginning of this episode mentioned here, and Sheldon's comment about adhesive ducks refers to those stickers you can put on the bottom of your shower to give your feet things to perch on so you don't actually slip and fall.

Penny dislocated her shoulder slipping in the shower... the only person who she could get to help her was Sheldon - so he knows about the tattoo. Very funny scene. It is a comedy of course, but the relationships make little sense unless you have seen the series.
