I have a very very genuine concern Doc. In this lifetime as ortho pg how many times have u used the stethoscope which u almost always invariably use in all ur videos!! Tht too various colors.. ... enlighten me plz.. as many ortho surgeons I knw they havent even seen this particular medical equipment or it is never ever present in their armamentarium....

That's the issue with today's specialists, in a trauma branch like ortho, carrying a steth can be the difference between life and death, one medical officer cannot tend to multiple trauma patients at the same time and there have been so many instances where a rib has fractured and peiced into the lung and the poor patient with rapidly falling spo2 has no one to tc of his pneumo/hemothorax or at least even call the on duty respiratory medicine doctor , cuz guess what, ortho PG will see only fractures, I unlike most doctors nowadays believe in treating the patient and not the part, and if I feel if me carrying a steth around my neck might be the difference between a patient surviving cuz he was diagnosed and the relevant doctor was informed in time, I think it's worth it. Also, sometimes I use it to illicit reflexes when I forget my hammer 😅.
