Hi, I've been in agony with tennis elbow over 2 and half months, struggling to even lift a cup to my mouth. I have been to the doctors, and he gave me naproxin to take for 2 weeks, put cold compress on, and try a few exercises. He suggested self refer, to NHS physio. Which i did, they replied quickly via email with 2 weeks of exercises to try and complete. Nothing has lessened the pain or improved the movement. So im in the midst of getting back in touch with physio... I'll keep updated... good luck, everyone.

@dot4283 hi... managed to see a physio, and they mentioned getting a strap to go around my forearm, which i did purchase from Amazon £10.00.. they gave me a couple of exercises to do for a month then i go back. It seem s i need to have the strap quite tight which is uncomfortable tbh and im still suffering at the moment.

Be patient and refer to chiropractor work first. I have it in both arms and can’t even do a firm handshake for a year now. Just started to get some scrapping done along with chiropractic work and definitely feel like I should have done this sooner. The biggest thing I would say is to find out what muscle is causing the pain “I was surprised when I found out” as it may not be where you thought it was coming from. The straps can be helpful but definitely not ideal. Do yourself a favor and go to a chiropractor who also performs acupuncture work. I’m still battling but I feel this has given me relief and hopefully a long term solution as long as I can build the muscles up after they’ve been relieved and the chiropractor gives me the ok to do so.

Thank you Dr O'Donovan - I've been experiencing exactly what you describe in my left elbow for about 6 weeks and have been considering seeing my GP. It's a textbook case - not sure how I got it though, I'm not sporty and due to disability quite sedentary. However, your video has eased my mind and I can be patient and put into operation your suggestions.

Hi Colin - glad you found the video helpful. I also included some extra links in the description box of the video which you may find useful - they contain more information about tennis elbow. I would see your GP if you have any doubts and unfortunately because this is a general educational video I can't give individual medical advice so always suggest seeing your own provider to get a full assessment. Thanks again.

Nicely explained. Thank you. The pain is quite intense. My orthopedic Doctor put my arm in a arm brace to wear 24/7 except for showering. Does feel better when not in use. Thx again.

Good Lord the info on the net is crazy varied concerning tennis elbow. But NO ONE has addressed a very basic question. Should I do therapy exercises (tyler twists.squeeze ball,,,etc) when it causes pain. Not discomfort but pain. Like a little above moderate pain. Sharp pain. Why does no one address this?

No, if there is heavy pain it is recommended to NOT continue regardless of where the pain is, ice it and give it a few days or until pain is subsiding, after icing and not worsening the problem then continue with elbow stretches, but not stretches that cause pain

Hello Dr. O'Donovan. I apparently out of the Blue have developed a night time habit. I've always been a side sleeper but, for the past 2 months I've caught myself in the middle of the night tucking my hands in between my legs??!!!! I don't realize I'm doing that while I'm asleep. I'm a 53 year old woman and never in my life have I ever done this. So it has left me with excruciating pain throughout the whole night and day! I can't grip anything much less lift anything. What would you suggest I do to prevent myself from tucking my hands in between my legs? I've tried Ibuprofen and a cooling gel for pain and it doesn't help at all. I'm at my wits end. I haven't slept in 2 months! Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thank You for the video.

I always thought this was normal. It can easily start to hurt by just sweeping. Ive been having it for about 8 years now. I use to work in Agriculture. All started when we had to prep field for the vineyard posts/irrigation . had to shovel out frozen ground. Just went to the gym and it came back again. Working in. Hard Labor jobs didnt help i guess. . i will definetely look into those arm bands and tbis video helped alot of questions i had

Hi, after 6 weeks of exercises the pain from tennis epicondylitis has reduced by 50%, but it still hurts a little. In your opinion, can I gradually start playing tennis again or is it better to wait until the pain has completely stopped due to the risk of throwing away everything I've done up to now? Thank you!

Hello doctor My symtons are getting worse over time I drive a bus and the pain is getting worse it has been gradual over many years starting with pain in my outer elbow ie tennis elbow. I am starting to get soreness on the inner part known as golfer elbow. I have weakness in my arms with pain running down into the inside of my palm I am noticing it when I lift things. My mum had this many years ago and had to have a operation . I also am getting burning in my knees soreness in my hips which happens when I lay on my side and some sorness in my shoulders I dont know whats going on. I went to the doctor regarding my knees had x rays was told my knees were fine. Well my knees dont feel fine and often have burning up knees and have to elevate my knees or have a bath or use ice to cool down my knees. Do doctors see the x rays ? or are they just going off some ones opinion at the hospital ?I am just 46 not like im over 60. whats going on? My doctors are refusing to do mri scans. Whats your advise should I ask for second opinions ??? thanks paul

I am not a doctor but sounds like you are suffering from Chronic or Persistent Musculoskeletal Pain which you should demand a second opinion.

bone loss which comes with age + lifestyle + bad diet. Take plenty vit D with calcium and most importantly pair with Vitamin K2 (very important). Make sure to also take magnesium glycinate and try to take an epsom bath once a week minimum if possible. And use light resistance bands to allow bloodflow to help the recovery process. If this hurts it more stop doing it and go lighter, maybe even without bands.

First find out what is causing your tennis elbow before trying out any treatments or exercises: 1. Is it weak forearm muscles/joints? 2. Is it incorrect playing/hitting technique? 3. Is it something else? Watch this video to find out more ---> kzbin.info/www/bejne/raackJKorZuHpq8
