Currently a SPT doing my clinical rotations with an outpatient ortho focus. Incredible how much more informative your channel is than the majority of PT practices out there. Extremely useful information provided in a comprehensive yet succinct way. Current evidence cited for most recommendations. And the videos are all well made. Amazing. This channel sets the bar high for the PT I want to be.

I still play racket games at 74 and just developed tennis elbow by my enthusiasm for learning Padel Tennis - I’m not fully turning sideways to hit the ball! Big problem - only using the wrist and arm, not the shoulder, to hit. This is the best holistic rehab video I have seen. The thoracic exercises are a game changer for me, that flexibility is making such a difference and ensures I bring the whole shoulder into play , not just the arm. Thank you for helping to keep me mobile and active.

The effort you put into the video is phenomenal. Perfect visual illustrated the physiology / trigger factors / rehab options, nice direct relation to real life scenarios. I appreciate you also focussed on the gym options as cause & rehab for this problem. Perfectly explained and superb structured, this video stands out to all the others out there, also because of its very comprehensive approach and foundation on empirical medical date. Thank you - subscribed.

WOW- virtually every comment he makes gives me deep insight into how this happened in the first place, and what I should do about it. I love the comment that it's OK to work through pain (a wee bit!) if it gives benefit, as measured by how you feel 2 days later. And comments about how this condition links to other problems I've had are so revealing, and useful. For example, I realize that my use of exercise machines in nonstandard ways (improper grips etc.) is a BAD IDEA. Too much pressure on my wrists. Just WOW. The guy is impressive, and honest. Also, independent of the issue of elbow tendinitis rehab, the yoga-esque exercises that are suggested would be so good for anyone transitioning from an active life into 65-plus reality. Sitting still on the couch and complaining about frozen shoulder etc. is just so unhelpful! Use it or lose it-

Woooow, it's most comprehensive information available regarding lateral elbow tendinopathy. Thanks for niiiiiiice work and really appreciate your sharing it. Though doctor by profession, as first cause mentioned, too soon, went for lifting heavier, now paying the price. I gave myself repeated steroid shots in vain with just a ultra short term little relief, condition aggravated after starting lifting, so, this time Started the rehab following the above guidelines told after watching the video multiple times, taking notes . Will update my progress

Ok I’ve sorted mine and I’ve come back here to share how I did it. I do motorcross and I damaged mine properly!! I tried everything including 3 cortisone injections. I also bought that silly strap which actually hurt it even more. Mine was torn on the tendon and the muscle was torn causing pain from the tendon, down about 5cm. NOTHING worked. Rubbing it sideways, up and down, icing it, etc etc etc…It was so so bad, I couldn’t do anything-had it for 5months. I started to read all the comments and picked up two bits of info. I bought a simple hot water bottle. I started every evening after supper, to put the hot water bottle on my arm and hold it there until it cooled down. I got it as HOT AS POSSIBLE!! For as long as possible. I also did it some afternoons. While doing it I kept my arm as STRAIGHT AS POSSIBLE!!! Then, I went to sleep with my arm STRAIGHT and never bent it in the night. I used extra pillows to keep it STRAIGHT. I did this for 3 weeks thinking I’m still going to have to go for an operation.. when one day I woke up and it felt sore, but a different sore. Because I’d kept it STRAIGHT for as long as possible, it had a chance to recover. The heat from the hot water bottle brought blood supply to the area and it healed. I went for a slow ride yesterday and the rest of my body is sore, but not the tennis elbow. I’m still doing the hot water bottle!!!! I’m NOT getting this pain again I am determined!!! HEAT AND OXYGEN & KEEPING IT STRAIGHT WHEN YOU SLEEP. Try it, don’t use ice, and don’t try anti inflammatorys because you need it inflamed and hot!!! Good luck!! 👍 Allan

Best video I have seen on it. I would add the resistance band where you place it below the elbow crust, lay on your back, so it pulls your arm away. Then do fist squeezes while resisting your arm to move away from your body. Squat University talks a lot about this move. Personally, I blame my phone usage on my tennis elbow.

So, this is for those of you that are experiencing long term pain that is seemingly chronic. Its been 6 months for me. I had tried both rest and physio exercises, and a combination of both. I had days of relief, but in general, the issues were ongoing. Then, I discovered the Athlean X kettle bell routine for tennis elbow. This was the beginning of realization. The kettle routine was giving me relief but not permanent. I did start to notice that when this routine popped my elbow joints, I would get almost instant relief, but with residual tenderness at the tendon. To be expected I suppose for a tendon under constant strain. So, I remembered I had seen one or two vids that suggested some Tennis elbow is actually a fruit of joint dysfunction and misalignment. I went back and sought out more vids on this issue, and came up with a couple of exercises/movements that are designed to pop the joint back into alignment. Guess what, I went from having a day of pain and restricted motion to near instant relief. So, for me at least it seems my joint is out of whack. This makes sense for me. I was aggressively chopping wood when I triggered my Tennis elbow. So, for me at least, it seems I need to focus on alignment and also strengthening the arm muscles. This goes for the shoulder too. I'm taking a holistic approach to building my arm back up. Good luck. UPDATE: 4 months after posting this comment I am more or less back to normal feeling and function with my elbow. It does want to slip out of alignment from time to time, but a simple pop stretch movement usually sets things back. I have been in good shape for quite a while. Initially I was doing popping and stretching several times a day for the first few weeks before my elbow was comfortable being back in alignment . I will continue to pop and build back muscle strength as needed.

Your issue sounds very similar to mine. I tried following online vids and exercises for the first 2 months and noticed no improvement. So started physio therapy and the therapist told me I would notice an improvement after 3 months of therapy. Well that time has passed and I only notice a very marginal improvement. But like you said, there are good and bad days. The problem I have with tendonitis is that there's very little info out there on the actual recovery path. In terms of what's normal and what's not normal to feel. Because the recovery path seems to vary a lot from person to person. One thing I recommend, that I wish I did in the very beginning is to get a scan. This will reduce any guess work that a therapist has to do and will give you a clear idea of what to expect. I hope you get better soon. It's an unbelievably frustrating injury to suffer from, so I feel for anyone going through the same thing.
@DescartesDooley
@DescartesDooley Жыл бұрын
Knowing that mine is , at least in part ,caused by misalignment, I have already seen big improvements in a week or so. The joints want to slip back into bad habits however. So, it is going to take time to retrain and strengthen the arm . But 'popping' the joint has been a game changer. Have you looked into alignment issues? @@HendrickT-bi4iw

Thanks for this. I've been dealing with this pain for about 4 months, and it's no joke. Got it from playing tennis, and even though I haven't played since July it is still bothering me -- sometimes it's really painful and limits my range of motion. I think I have also injured the biceps tendons, because I get pain in the crook of my elbow, as well as on the outside (where the funny bone is) when I bend and straighten my elbow.

I have been dealing with my tennis elbow for 8-12 weeks now. Initially it did not keep me from golfing. Then it really flared up on the course. I haven’t touched a club in 6 weeks. I will probably miss the rest of golf season. I have had massage therapy, physiotherapy and acupuncture. Obviously these are not working and I will be using these exercises to rehab this nagging injury. I believe I got this through a demolition of my kitchen for renovation. My only concern is the fairly loud snapping noise of the tendon. This is where I am wondering if I have a joint alignment issue like previously mentioned in this comment section. I will just have to keep at it. Great in depth information video.

Great video, I have distal insertional Bicep tendinopathy , and low grade common extensor tear centered along the ECRB . 52 years old. Weight training over 30 years. Had numerous overuse injuries. I’m going to incorporate these exercises, and I am going to give PRP a try, since my insurance is covering. My arm is already atrophied, even Though I have not stopped lifting. I’ve done lifting modifications. Different exercises, and way lighter load. But again, thanks for the video I can see how this would be tremendously helpful to the average person not familiar with sports injuries.

This is an excellent analysis of a very poorly understood injury. The findings of the quoted literature support the presenter's conclusions and the suggestions for constructing an effective recovery plan are highly pragmatic and can be tailored to an individual's requirements. The overall advice is very well thought through and the explanation for not over emphasising the benefits of stretching the affected muscles is logical. Thank you for putting together the most comprehensive resource for understanding and treating this very frustrating condition.

Helpful video. I have tennis elbow pain in both elbows with my dominant hand being about twice as painful. I did RICE for 10 weeks. No improvement. During that time, I reduced arm use to daily tasks but even brushing my teeth and getting a gallon of milk from the fridge hurts. I had hoped to pursue treatment by convincing my Dr to do an MRI and perhaps surgery if warranted. After watching this video, that seems like a waste of time. As I type this, my rt elbow is at a 6. Very discouraged because even daily activity exceeds capacity. BTW I am a 63 year old former gym rat and was very active all my life. Perhaps I just wore out my poor tendons prematurely?
