And before anyone reply back to me in this comment, i want you to answer a few of my question and when i say answer, i mean proper answer not like diplomatic answer like she gave - "jaanch chal rha hai, we will look into it" 1. Why did the crime reported as su*cide in the first place? 2. Why didnt the hospital authority filed an FIR untill the same day?? 3. Why were the parents of the victim kept waiting for 3 hours? 4. From where did the mob of 7000 people gathered without any information of west Bengal police department?? 5. Who were they and why did thry vandalized the building? 6. They say many of them has been arrested so where is the report of what's going on with them and wether they have been inquired regarding their act of violence?? 7. Against whom was Mamta Banerjee protesting for ?? CBI ?? Its not been 3 days since cbi started their investigation and she was protesting against them?? In 2017 a 9 year Gujjar Muslim girl was gang raped in a temple at Kathua Jammu. The 60year leader of the gang even called his son from Agra to rape the dead girl. JAMMU B J P even came in favour of rapists. But for then Chief Minister Mahbooba Mufti the rapists would have escaped any punishment. How do you expect anything to change ? In the parkstreet rape case the incharge of the case Damayanti Sen solved the case with efficiency and found the rapist to be a transporter paying tmc. Her reward for working efficiently was transfer to north bengal. Kamdhuni rape case bloch investigation was done by Goyal and his reward was CP . What more to say but this happens in every state 😢

The stage to get justice comes only after the crime is committed. We must teach our right minded girls and boys to take actions on the spot, to protect themselves. I don't think there will be any change in near future as men like these understand only aggression and our Justice system is too soft and gullible, criminals laugh on the Justice system. Our law makers are not well versed wih the way a crimal' mind works but the criminal knows the weakness of the Justice system.

​@@Thechasepod see that's where i would disagree, because it is not that laws aren't strict. The core of the problem is the enforcement of said laws. The system is corrupt, the people meant to protect and enforce laws are the ones covering up crimes. The judiciary is slow, there's a lack of transperency during the investigation. No amount of strict laws are going to be able to fix this. We can make it compulsory for all rapist to be sentenced to life imprisonment instead of 10yrs-life. But these monsters continue to commit such atrocities because they don't think the system will catch them. What we need the most is the proper enforcement of the laws that already exist done with full transparency. We need police reform because right now their incentive structure is not aligned with protecting us but protecting the few who have political connections. We need judicial reform to ensure justice is served in a timely manner. And most importantly we need social reforms to prevent rapes in the future, because what causes rape is a mindset that dehumanizes women in society. None of this is instant, but there is no instant solution, we can demand resignations, strict laws, do candel marches, but until we address these issues first, it will all be in vain. No law matters if it isn't properly enforced.

About rape culture, the change has to be 3 pronged. Stronger laws, fast Legal aid/support to victims, secondly increase safety measures for women all over the country and most imoortant is the third one- change in our mindsets. There was a time when media first came to india around 70s.. as a child i remember Doordarshan used to run campaigns on different themes ranging from hygiene, health of women, saving water, save girl child to family planning. it had a strong impact on many minds. 2 to 3 generations were impacted due to such ad campaigns. Similar campaigns if thoughtfully made to highlight the outcomes of rape on girls or women will help in reaching minds of people. This is the need of the hour as rape, as an act to show power or to teach a lesson is a very deep rooted problem. That mindset should change.
