That's a fine line between doctor and mother. I think Dr. Marcel did a great job of taking care of her, despite what Dr. Blake was saying.

Dr. Blake would never even be allowed to watch the surgery, Doctor or no. Family can't treat Family. Its ethical policy.
@Winter_Chill_Ай бұрын
"She's also my daughter" okay cool, so you know to step aside right then and there The American Medical Association says that doctors should not treat themselves or their immediate family members The only exceptions are in the super rare cases of things like "oh they're crashing and no one else is around to help / take over yet" not "no thanks, i'll operate on my child because I said so and i don't want you to"
@chpman2013Ай бұрын
At that point, I would've raised my voice at her to get out of the way. It's one thing to be concerned about your kid's health status, it's another to interfere with your kid's medical care.
@chaingone7964 ай бұрын
Yeah how much you want to treat your family in the hospital it can also cloud your judgment, so in real life this (in my opinion wouldn't happen)
@feraltaco47834 ай бұрын
Not how this works. You can't treat family. Edit: You technically can but it's not a great idea.
@Phoenix411th4 ай бұрын
Why
@sassbrat4 ай бұрын
@@Phoenix411th Because it interferes with the way you treat them and clouds your judgement and treatment plan. While you do know your family the best you don't think like a doctor and do what is best for them. I am not saying that the family member doesn't have the best in mind for the hurt person they just don't see them as patient but their family. Just like this. Dr. Blake could have killed her daughter without meaning to if Dr. Marcel hadn't stepped in. Again this didn't mean that Blake was a bad doctor but she was thinking as a mom not a doctor. Sure you can be keep in the loop of the medical treatment as a family member but not as a doctor, Now it does get a little tricky depending on the type of treatment and place, A good chuck of my cousins all went into the medical field in some way and they made sure that they did not treat anyone that was related by blood or marriage unless it was asked. My Grandfather had to go in for a minor surgery and when it was found out that one of the nurses that was gonna prep him was his niece he was asked if he would like another nurse, My grandfather said no as he knew that his niece would be professial. He said he felt more comfortable with her doing the prep as she had helped him at home a few times due to a older injury and she knew just how to do what needed to be be done and again make him feel comfortable in some of the more (exposing parts of the prep if you get what i mean) as she had help my grandmother help my grandfather with a bath more than a few times. so there is that part of having your family treat you. My cousin of course was not allowed to be his nurse after his surgery but he did request her quite a bit to explain some of the things that was going on. The nurse he had was great and everything but she didn't explain in a way my grandfather understood.

@@Phoenix411th Too much history of family treating family and hesitating/making risks or refusing to do what is needed out of fear of what could happen to them. Nowadays it depends on what's going on and all, I've heard in some cases doctors can perform on family, but its not at all recommended.
