A little boy is missing after a brutal home invasion, with the main suspect being his father.
From Chicago P.D. Season 02, Episode 12 "Disco Bob": During the investigation of a brutal home invasion leaving a mother and her daughter dead, all signs point to the father as the main suspect. 1:43 Even if you’re innocent, always get a lawyer. Requesting a lawyer to be present isn’t a confession, it doesn’t make you guilty. I can’t remember how this episode went, but I’m pretty sure the dad is innocent and everything they’ve been throwing at him is just theory without actual evidence

That still makes the boyfriend a traitor since he gave the burglar the alarm codes. Worst of all, after getting caught, he blames the girlfriend's mom for their deaths.

When they concentrate on a character means he didn't do it. The writers are trying to make you think he did it and wham, it's someone else.

That dad had every right to be mad (if he's innocent). I already have a problem with this show with how aggressive the cops can be in Chicago (not a good look for real cops); if they were to grab me in the middle of the night, accuse me of killing/kidnapping my son, keep asking me weird questions and then almost INSIST I'm the one that did it? I'd demand a lawyer. They try to rough me up, I start prepping my case and then I clap back if I feel my life is in danger. Because in that moment, that's not a cop interrogation. That's an assault.

Apparently later in the ep, Hank apologizes to the father for accusing him (since, as a surprise to probably no one but Hank and Antonio, it turns out he was innocent after all).

I love Olinsky. I don't know why, but I just do. He's definitely got that Voight vibe about him. And when he whipped out that tool to break the car window I was like "Ok. He means business." lol

Close relatives, particularly spouses or parents, are usually the prime suspects

No the cops go for the most likely culprit. Like when a wife gets murdered they always go towards the husband.

When a wife is killed, cops usually try to rule out the spouse first. However, there was strong circumstantial evidence against him. There was also nothing that would prove anyone else was involved. Had Jordan died, he’d probably be in prison unless he had solid witnesses.
