I'm not sure anyone is attacking them for "trying to create a successful influencer product." They're being rightfully attacked for aggressively marketing a product to children that is not in any way good for children. It's sugar, sodium, and fat (and possibly also lead which has been found in Prime before) in colorful packaging. If we can rip into cereal brands for marketing sugar bombs to kids, there is no reason we should not be allowed to rip into these three equally guilty people.

When I heard about Lunchables for the first time (I'm from Germany) I was so shocked that this is considered to be a lunch for children. It doesn't even look appetizing at all and I can't imagine that it can give you any energy for a school day. Additionally, children learn that this is "food" instead of learning about a healthy diet. No surprise that the obesity rates are rising whenn people eat this from early on.

To play devil's advocate - healthy food is expensive, so I grew up *having* to eat unhealthy food, and not all schools have free lunches for children. The problem isn't just that Lunchables exist, but that lots of people cannot afford a lot of healthy food (especially specific categories, like fruits and vegetables).

I’ve tried it a couple of times. It certainly can’t qualify as lunch in any way. It feels more like a snack (tastes like it too). I thought it tasted fine at the time, but never really wanted more.

I understand why you'd think the criticisms leveled at these creators for trying to create a successful product are unfair, but I think the key is the actual influencers involved. With Mr. Beast already in the spotlight for marketing lotteries at kids and hiring convicted child sex criminals, and Logan already in the spotlight for scamming his (mostly child) fans and using litigation to cover it up, I think the concern people have is the attitude/care these people ACTUALLY have for their child fanbase.

Between the KZbin content and the businesses the dude is probably stretched to the point where he literally cannot quality control much of anything. Paul's got his own issues that don't stem from such overstretching, but I think Jimmy would be better off if he just toned his ambition down a bit.

One major issue I don’t see being brought up enough is that due to the involvement of these popular influencers, kids who had never eaten lunchables will beg their parents to have lunchly like their peers. So many kids who would not regularly have Gatorade or hersheys would line up for prime or feastables just to be cool in front of their peers. Influencers are very powerful on young minds (I know so for myself; remember fidget spinners?)

I’ve seen Lunchables before, and now I’m seeing this huge Lunchly controversy. I’m glad that you, Mike, are non-biased and simply speaking about the facts. Honestly, I hate the ideas of both Lunchables and Lunchly. Both are significantly unhealthy, but just in different ways. They still may be healthier than school lunches (I watched Super Size Me and I’m pretty sure they mentioned school lunches being even more unhealthy than fast food), but they’re still not ideal. Especially not all the time. If someone’s going to make a product like this, they need to put things that are actually healthy into that product. Thanks for the information, Mike!

I grew up eating Lunchables and all sorts of gross (but delicious) 90s/2000s kids foods. I was malnourished and didn't start to understand how to eat actually healthy food until my 20s. Then I gained weight and almost completely stopped being hypoglycemic. Turns out I wasn't "lucky to be skinny," I was basically starving my body of the important things it needs to function properly. And then my sister turns around and is feeding her kids pretty much only Lunchables at school everyday. 🥴

Yeah, it definitely missed the mark here. Kids idolize Mr. Beast and it would be awesome if he created something that could meet USDA requirements so healthy, whole foods can be popular. I know Uncrustables actually has partnered with schools to make a bigger, whole grain, healthier version of their product for schools, and it’s a great thing for picky kids.
