I'm willing to bet that the prosecutor instructed her to do that. Prosecutors will instruct their witnesses to refer to the victim by name and the defendant as "the defendant". Defense lawyers instruct their witnesses to call the defendant by name and the victim as "the accuser" or something. Both sides use these tactics to personalize, and make more empathetic, whomever it is they are fighting for.

I am a Nurse and seeing cases like this is what wears on the spirits of Doctors, Nurses, ER Techs, X-Ray Techs, CNA’s. Even though, we eventually learn how to disassociate and move on in life, certain cases/people never leave our memories and it eats away at our emotional being. After 10 years, I had to leave Nursing full-time and I only do it PRN. There are still many times when thoughts of patients come to my mind…it never leaves. Doctor Thank You! On my son's 4th birthday he was diagnosed with appendicitis. After his appendectomy I got to see him come out of the OR. As he stirred, he was in visible pain and the doctor was trying to push more meds in to make him comfortable. He was pale and crying about how much he hurt. I almost threw up thinking about everything his tiny body had just gone through, and everything started getting dark. I can't fathom staying upright hearing these details about my baby.

As I get older and farther away from childbearing age (no kids), I'm increasingly struck by how excruciating it is to be a caring parent. How to know when to act when your child is sick, turning them over for painful, scary medical care you know is for the best, as you have done. I'm in awe - I hope you bless YOURSELF, even a little bit, for keeping your tiny human(s?) alive and thriving. Nice job! Even though it's so hard.

Those of us that worked in trauma have seen things that many could not fathom. Body parts and tissues that are supposed to be on the inside that are no inside. Twisted limbs and contorted limbs. We do it because we are drawn to it. I loved working as a team to save humans. That is one of the gifts of this profession. Watching people lose their loved ones on repeat did take a toll but I’ve always chosen to honor those people and the paramedics, EMT’s, fire people and police that may arrive first on scene. Used to be an ambulance jockey. The difference between a trauma center and a regular ER is much more than just equipment on hand. Personnel at a trauma center get bombarded with the worst injuries in a very large area on a daily basis. That changes people. It takes a long time to get used to being around severe trauma victims constantly. When I first got started stabilizing and packaging (that's basically what we did) I was offended by how cold the personnel in the trauma centers were when we delivered the mangled victims of accidents, shoot up people, near suicides, etc... After a few years I couldn't believe how professional those people actually were. Then I realized just how valuable trauma centers are.

I seriously dated an er trauma surgeon, and I'm still friends with him years later. When dating, I always thought something was missing deep down. After we witnessed a woman get mowed down in a pedestrian versus car hit and run and he stepped in and tried to save her life (unsuccessfully), I eventually realized it's how he had to be in order to show up to work every day and take care of people. He told me that he knew the moment he laid eyes on the woman that he would not be able to save her, but that didn't stop him from doing everything he could do, anyway.

This case seems so full of chaos after listening to the guy in the orange shirt testify.

Even knowing the procedures that were described since I was a child, hearing what work they did on that little girl made me react while her own mother sat there with nothing showing on her face or in her body at all. Strangers care so much more about that little girl than her own “mother” (term used very loosely here)

This happens so often that it’s not even funny. Time after time. When are states going to make sure that this stops happening? She didn’t have custody of the three other children she gave birth to.

I have a baby girl turning 3 in a little over a week. Just listening to this video is killing me inside. My heart is hurting. What is wrong with people???? Poor baby. I will never understand how someone carries a baby for 9+ months or around that long feels the kicks heartbeat hiccups. Goes thru labor and shares that amazing loving moment with your precious baby you’ve dreamed about the whole pregnancy. Then hurt the precious baby. Sick twisted disgusting people

Why do people continue to be surprised that lunatics don't have any remorse for evil things they do. They're evil, cold people at heart!

So sad for these medical professionals tonhave to recall this incredibly difficult cases....this doctor is exactly how my reactions are to these trauma and medical cases ....yes it is horrible, horrendous acts, but you are still a medical professional with a duty to protect your community and that even involves caring for bad individuals, criminals. She recalls the case in matter of medical intellect to give the most accurate medical information and how they worked tirelessly and used every resource to bring this baby girl back to life....but when you lose too much blood there is no blood transfusions to save you especially a child, an adult may have had a chance but just remember a baby has the same volume of blood as a 2 Liter bottle of soda.........so sad, spill that on the floor and see how quickly the soda pours out.

My son is 16 months, laid sleeping peacefully in my bed next to me after a cosy warm bath & warm bottle of milk, I'd meet my own maker before I let anyone harm him. How could she do this to her own baby.....she's beyond evil. She is dead inside. No emotion whatsoever her eyes are cold and pure evil

Mommy looks bored. Mommy looks as the doctor describes the last dreadful moments of her childs' life and appears to be mildly annoyed. Mommy should never be out in society. May the soul of the Faithful departed rest in peace. What a horrible life for this little child.

I think the mom tried to kill herself as well. I bet she hates that she failed now that she’s still alive and her daughter is not. Mental illness is horrible for everyone involved.

Stop blaming mental illness. Shes just a garbage human being.
