I was driving in a blizzard. The speed limit was slowed to 10 miles per hour. I drive that normal takes 2 hours took almost 7 hours. I was going down hill, with chains, slowly pumping at the breaks and still slide out. We ending up spinning around to face traffic. There was a semi coming down the hill. Because of the grade and snow the were having a hard time getting down the hill and wouldn't have been able to stop. I literally had just enough time to back up, turn around, and start driving again. My buddy I was traveling with asked me how I did that and stayed so calm. I just answered 30 years of gaming.

You need to see a therapist if the anxiety is that bad
@TRINITY-6262 ай бұрын
This is a perfect example of why they said in my group therapy class not to use your hobby as a form of escapism rather than relaxation. When you play video games to escape your anxiety, it simply comes back with a vengeance once the gaming is over with. When you play them as an activity of enjoyment and relaxation, they complement your mental health instead of placing a temporary mask over your disorder(s). So it's important to learn other coping mechanisms and strategies, plus engaging in exposure therapy so that you're not simply hiding from your fears, but actively engaging them in order to build up courage.

Not really related, but my favorite game jumpscare is in Silent Hill. There is a room in the normal world school where you find a cat. It jumps out and runs away. There’s a key there. Later, when you go to the same room in Otherworld, the same locker has nothing but a huge blood splatter. The implications are terrifying. As you walk away while still thinking about this, a body falls out of a nearby locker, with no sound but a thud.
@jacksawack67242 жыл бұрын
lol character limit. There’s a key THERE now. The way that the body hits the floor so suddenly is terrifying to me. The way that scene is handled, from the setup, to the middle, and the sudden climax is an absolute masterwork of horror.

Teacher here. During the pandemic, minecraft helped my 3 autistic kids learn to socialise and my husband and I played it with them. They learnt to be flexible, take turns, become resilient, share (virtual resources), apologise when things went wrong, calm down and come back and say sorry. Very valuable.

this has been the case with a few games, there's been anacdotale evidence to support socials gaming helps with autistic children. there needs to be further reseacrh into this as it could prove very benificail in helping paretns reach their autistic chirldren

@@Ghoulza absolutely. Extra research would be amazing. I know quite a few autistic students who socialise because of characters like Pokémon or minecraft etc. it really is a springboard for them

@@kateymateymusic1 there was a story going around the gaming community, an autistic child died, and the parents were shocked when lots of people they had never met pitched up to his funeral. turns out he had a lot of friends in a massively multiplayer online game. Parent shad worried for so long they he didn't have any friends but he had made many friends on line and as able to communicate with them far better online and with people in the real world.

In online fps, you take in a continuous stream of stimuli such as environmental sounds and voice communication, visual cues and haptic feedback from controllers to make split second decisions on where to go, what to use, and how to cascade actions toward ever-changing short term goals to achieve the win in matches. Its a real brain exercise, especially when you play to win
