I used to be scared of getting my blood drawn and shots but then I met a wonderful doctor who takes good care of me and is so gentle with me and understanding she even let's me lay down while getting my blood work

I don't do well with blood tests either, it's not as much being stuck with a needle that bothers me, and I'm not bothered by the sight of blood, but I get kinda dizzy when the blood's coming out.

Autumn, I hate getting shots and bloodwork too, so I know how you feel! It’s ok to cry during your shots/bloodwork. I usually get nervous when they first mention it. I understand that it hurts whenever it goes in, but it’ll be over!

This video gave me some flashbacks of when I was little and going to the doctors office for me was a struggle because I have a lot of sensory issues and I have always had sensory issues when I was young, I remember the feeling of the needle going through my skin and it hurt, but luckily the doctors where so sweet to me :) They even gave me a sticker, I was so little at the time :)

Autumn reminds me a lot of when I was a child and had to get blood work done…it hurt so bad I literally screamed the whole appointment….and the nurses were so patient and calm with me. 😭 it was so sweet to get the reassurance that it won’t be long. Unfortunately, blood tests are inevitable and drawing blood like this is probably the only way that can give like a clear result of how our health is…I guess. Autumn, I’m proud of you. You still got through it even though it’s not fun. I wanted to give you a hug so badly.

I also used to get blood draws a lot as a kid bc of my arthritis, I hated the sharp needles going inside me and it would hurt I'm now 22 and it doesn't really hurt anymore because the doctors know how to make it quick

In my first experience I didn’t have it be a hard time if we’re talking about getting blood drawn in fact I was told that I behaved better than other patients that went to the doctor office I go to but when it comes to shots I can’t possibly do that without tearing up at least from the last time I had to get a vaccine and now with covid I have to get that one but other than that that is only kind I know I’d have to get eventually and even if it’s hard to do I’ll do what I can to actually get through it without the urge to cry in pain of it the arm thing that tightens is still a little challenge for me to get through but I get through it better than when I was younger because before I always tensed up but now I don’t and I still get a little sharpness of pain from the tightness but it’s not too much of a big deal for me anymore than how it was before

It’s Down syndrome. She was born like this. It’s something that happens randomly due to a mutation in the chromosomes. It’s nobody’s “fault”, it’s just a random thing that happens sometimes

I have SPD, and I totably understand how traumatic doctors are. I have to be drugged up just to get a shot or get my blood drawn. My mom also puts this cream cabbled Lidacain on my arm which numbs it up. Maybe that would help Autumn. I dod't feel anything. And then afrw, we always go to Dunkin or Starbucks for coffee. I'll do anything for a cup of java. LOL.
