I counted how many projects of David’s she’s overlapped in and unless I’m missing one, it’s kind of 9. Random order- Casanova, Good Omens, Staged, People Like Us, Twenty Twelve and then the sequel W1A, Doctor Who of course, You, Me and Him, and 96 Ways to Say I Love You. I call her one of David’s actor wives/friends. Fenella Wolgar who also appears on Doctor Who, is another. I just counted 6 overlapping projects, and that doesn’t include more Doctor Who work that she’s done apart from him.

Since people already told you guys about the line about the Doctor being a dad, I'll talk about the torch. In 2012 people tried to make that happen in real life and it did happen, kind of. It wasn't David Tennant, but the actor playing the Doctor at that time did carry the torch.

So, re: Chloe, I *think* what was going on was that she was lonely in that, her mother refused to talk about what had happened with her father. As she said 'Chloe got it the worst' but her mother's way of coping was to just, not talk about it. 'He's gone now so there's no need to talk about him' meanwhile, he daughter is still suffering from nightmares of her abusive father, but has no one to talk to about it. The one person she could connect with about this experience, did not want to talk about it. Which ties into the mother's story arc of, you know, being there for her daughter and talking about it. She didn't draw him cause she wanted him cause she was lonely but, probably just to like, vent, to get to get it out there. Sometimes when you're in a bad headspace you just gotta, write or draw to deal w/ whatever is bothering you. It's just that she was being possessed by that powerful energy being child that was giving the drawing life.
@simongiles9749

Which is why he's drawn as demonic scary daddy hidden in the closet, it's the classic thing of an emotionally disturbed child drawing things in lots of black with death and sorrow. In the similar-themed 80s film Paperhouse, the girl draws a house and visits in her dreams. So she draws her absent father into the house but accidentally makes him look angry, so the dream father is scary. She scribbles out his face. Now he's a blind, faceless, angry scary father.

Nope! The Doctor was a dad at some point. And a grandfather. This isn't the first time it's come up. It came up back w/ the 9th Doctor during The Empty Child(the 'are you my mummy?' one). Doctor Constantine commented that 'before the war I was a father and grandfather, but now I'm neither, but still a doctor' and The Doctor said he 'knew the feeling' he wasn't just talking about being a doctor there. His first ever companion was his granddaughter, Susan. Which suggests he had at least one kid (tho son or daughter is unknown).

Honestly, the way the kids came back and everyone was just happy, riding their bikes, riding on dad's shoulders, etc., I don't think they remember going into the drawings, and I don't even think they the parents have a memory of their children being missing. The old lady remembers. Old ladies have power that way. ;)

Hi there is a audio called Battle Scars (audio story) this is an audio story for the 9th doctor on this one is based just after his regeneration that happen exactly on the last day of the Time war, he was so emotional and physical damage that he broke all the mirrows on the Tardis so he spend around 900 years with out seein his face after the regeneration, about his age the doctor is increadible old because each Face is capable to leave a very long time. Now on the classic he never show any partivular interest or atraction for some one different than a Galiffreyan. But now his people is gone, Rose was the fist human companion after the time war, she helps him to get better that is why this regeneration is diffetent this 10th Face is more dashin and more emotional specialy with Rose she is a very important part of emotional center.❤❤

The Doctor travels with Susan, his granddaughter, in the first ever episode. Fan debates revolving around whether the Doctor ever had a family tended to pass this off, unrealistically, as saying that 'granddaughter' was just a term of affection. A very weird one if true though. The family comments in the modern series have clarified that the Doctor did have a family to end that debate, really.
@OldManFerdiad
@OldManFerdiad 6 ай бұрын
Susan is absolutely The Doctor's Granddaughter. The classic series didn't go much for continuity until the early 80s when the new producer (showrunner) started introducing continuity elements in the run up to the 20th anniversary. But in the 80s there was a sort of moralising around the idea of an older man running around with young companions, almost exclusively young women, that didn't seem to be an issue in the 60s and 70s. Peter Davison (the fifth Doctor) talks about how he wasn't allowed to hug or touch his female companions in case it looked like he was taking advantage of them. That's the environment the "granddaughter is just a term of affection" thing started. But if you think about it, an old man travelling around with a schoolgirl who calls him "grandfather" and isn't actually related probably is not better!

@@OldManFerdiad I'm pretty sure "old man travelling around with a young girl" was considered pretty weird in the 60s too, and that was why in the original setup they made Susan into the Doctor's grandchild so that people wouldn't be asking whether there was something wrong with that scenario.

The Doctor's family has been a subject of much debate. When the series started back in 1963, he was traveling with his granddaughter, Susan, who was believed to have been coming back in the season 14/1 finale. Other than that, we know virtually nothing about his family, except that they had an estate of some sort. The Doctor doing not quite understanding human norms, sometimes before being corrected by their companion, is one of my favourite parts of New Who. Ten eating jam with his fingers is one. Then there's the line, "she's my carer, She cares so I don't have to," but that's a while away yet. Funny to think 2012 was six years in the future when this episode aired, but is now twelve years in the past. Damn I'm old....Oddly enough, I've been going through the same thing with my youngest. She can't make things disappear, but she went from being so talkative it was like living with The Riddler to being a functional mute. Got to love the teenage years. :P

I don't think she's lonely because her abusive father is gone, I think she's lonely because she has no one to process the complex emotions she feels after his passing. During the abuse, it's likely that Chloe and her mother were in survival mode, which means focusing on getting through another day, another fit of rage, which leaves little room to process feelings. You have to put those aside in order to survive. But once her father passed and they were given the room to breathe, it means the emotions that had to be repressed during the abuse were able to resurface and demand proper attention. However, Chloe's mom's response was to continue repressing, to refuse to talk about what they had been through, and what they are feeling now they're on the other side. That's what made Chloe feel lonely, she has no one with whom to share her feelings and help her understand them. There's a good chance she had trouble making friends during the abuse, and as a result now doesn't have friends to talk to, to confide in. She can't even process her nightmares about her father because her mom just sings them away and then doesn't acknowledge them later. For me, I find this episode to be okay, not great, but watchable. Definitely better than Idiot's Lantern, because the "villain" of this episode is a bit easier to understand - they're just two children using child logic to not feel so lonely. I feel like this episode was trying to comment on childhood trauma and abuse, I just don't think it was executed as well as it could have been. But Rose and the Doctor are fun together, and I do like how this episode flips the ending of Idiot's Lantern, where the Doctor is taken instead, and it's up to Rose to save the day. I think this episode, as well as Love & Monsters and The Idiot's Lantern suffer by being surrounded by the really great episodes of the rest of the season, especially with The Impissible Planet/The Aatan Pit just being spectacular, one of the best stories in the series. But hey, you made it through the slog, and OMG it will be worth it, the next episodes are just Fantastic, I cannot wait to see your reactions!!!

I think this story gets a bad rap. I know it was made with less time and budget as they normally would as another story fell through. Maybe with a bit more pre-production they could have produced something just as memorable as "It's A Good Life" from The Twilight Zone. It's a bit of a pity as I think Nina Sosanya is a brilliant actor and really does a lot with what she's given. Abisola Agbaje as Chloe is also very good for a young actor. Maybe it suffers from being quite close to the other 'domestic' story Idiot's Lantern, which has a more vibrant setting? Or being set in Summer while clearly being shot in winter? Or just feeling a little unfinished. I don't think it's the worst story ever, (without spoilers I think there are some genuine stinkers we won't reach for a while) but is a bit beige compared to some really great episodes in S2.

My man said sing Jodaci, 🤣 Funny thing is, me & my wife are watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for the 1st time and Season 4 has "Freakin You" as the ending theme for no apparent reason, has nothing to do with the story, and I'm like "kids watch this right?" 🤣 No real spoilers for anything you'll see in the show below: The Doctor has been a father a few times. In the Classic show he started his travels with his "granddaughter" Susan. Which implies he had kids. Whether bio or adopted is never said, but Susan was from his home planet. In the Classic series the Doctor has been a fatherly figure to certain companions, like Victoria, or Nyssa, but never more so than the relationship between 7th Doc & Ace (Dorothy). In expanded media the 8th Doctor while trapped on Earth and with a touch of amnesia he adopted a daughter named Miranda too. So he's been a dad, yeah. As for "the Doctor barely knows how to fly the TARDIS," there is an audio adventure with the 8th Doc where he's got a high level Time Lord on his ship with him as they're escaping some danger and she goes: "How you passed your flying exam, I'll never understand." And he replies: "Who says I passed? It's amazing what qualifications you can get with central computer access and a little imagination." 🤭

You seem to be going to the Doctor's having a son, but he says "I was a dad once." Eccleston mentioned having been a father and grandfather. I think Rose is getting more attached to the Doctor, but that is a function of having been with him longer now, not because he has a different face/body. Sometimes it does fell like they never have a real conversation that isn't in the middle of a dangerous adventure, though, and we don't see a lot there. The Sarah Jane episode was one where they talked a little, but that was followed by Mme. de Pompadour, which they don't seem to have discussed at all, and was a pretty significant thing. I was annoyed by her jealousy of the Doctor's talking with a server to get information in the Cyberman two-parter, but when you realize this is after the one-two punch of Sarah Jane/Reinette, you can see how raw she is at that point. I actually realized this watching your videos.

This is better than Love and Monsters but it’s still a slightly average story, bordering on below average. I don’t think it’s as terrible as many claim it to be but it’s not great either. It’s probably the second or third weakest story in Series 2 but there are far worse episodes of Doctor Who than this one. The narrative with Chloe, her abusive dad and the Isolas turning people into paintings has good potential in creep factor but it feels noticeably underbaked and too rushed with its ideas and conclusion.
