In a few of his stories he has characters who are authors, and in at least one of them he talks about the sense of humour that authors have and why it often lands them in trouble. I'm an author, and like most of my lot I laugh at odd things. To me, having reached a somewhat old age, the idea of someone not knowing what a pasty is sounds like something from a comedy sketch (Joss Whedon did it a few times in Buffy, usually with Giles hitting the Trans-Atlantic language barrier). In the end, of course, you can't explain a sense of humour. But I just wanted to thank Bowlestrek for brightening up my day.

A pasty is a traditional food from Cornwall in the far south west of the UK. Traditionally it consisted of meat, potatoes and turnip cut into small chunks and baked inside pastry for Cornish tin miners. It had a crimped crust that the miners could hold with dirty hands while eating the rest. The crust was then discarded. Also known locally as an 'oggy', a Cornish pasty is a culinary delight and should not be confused with the rubbish they serve up north masquerading as pasties. When are we going to get a legit costume for the Doctor? Always changing and looking like anyone on the street, from earth, just kills so much of the character's mystery. Let's imagine Tom Baker where one week he had a scarf, one week he didn't, one week he wore jeans and a t-shirt, one week he wore a rain coat, one week he wore a hat, and how that would have effected the character and became the character.

Nah man. I would say this has been the best doctor who episode in 7 years. The only problem is it didn't have a timey wimey explanation. At least it has not yet. Maybe by the end when we find out who the one who waits is and whether or not she is related to him somehow or might be the one who waits herself and maybe that old lady was just a variation of the one who waits. Maybe it all ties in and will explain this. Definitely left some open-endedness here which I don't mind as long as it's closed in an arc. But you're going way too hard on an episode that has the right amount of creep factor that we haven't had in a very long time

I agree that this was the best episode of this reboot which had moments of the good older Doctor Who back. It still left too much open as you say but at least this was a story. Nice to see someone was thinking the same I was. It reminds me a bit of midnight, the less we know about the monster the better. I do think we could have gotten some sort of explanation as to how it might be a time loop that's been broken but sometimes less is better.

The episode doesnt even make sence Ruby becomes the old woman and trlls her ypunger delf to not look at her. So, if she never looked ay her then she would never become the old woman. Resulting in this episode being the grandfather paradox or someone else being the old woman throughout the episode. Also, the doctor needs to look where he's going. Two episodes in a row have a plot revolving around him not looking where his feet are.
