Exactly. At the very beginning of Doctor Who there was 4 in the TARDIS. The Doctor, his Granddaughter Susan and Ian and Barbara. The 2nd Doctor had Jamie, Polly and Ben. The Fifth Doctor had Tegan, Nyssa and Adric... It's nothing new... but many fans don't seem to be upto speed with the Classic series.

Doctor Who is now not only shot on more elaborate studio sets, but on location around the globe. Troughton's stories were also slower-paced with a lot more dialogue, so they could use the same set for more time. There was no CGI or localisation either. Troughton's first season contained 43 episodes, but nine stories overall. While there are two two-parters in series twelve, generally in New Who the second part of a story is very different to the first, whereas in the Classic series, a story was a bit like one long episode chopped up.

For everyone saying "start with the first doctor", that's a lot easier said than done. A lot of episodes from the original series have been lost and they're not on Netflix either so they're pretty hard to find (unless you buy them on DVD - which is still probably going to be a struggle). I know because I've been looking for the original series DVDs/online since David Tennant was in Doctor Who (so around 2007/2008) and found only "The Three Doctors" and "The Five Doctors" on DVD

Was amusing to watch. On a serious note however, I wish Doctor Who would go back in time a bit and be more along the lines of the tenth doctor. The eleventh doctor wasn't bad but in my opinion the show started to slowly lose some certain magic it had. Season 11 didn't click for me, so I'm hoping season 12 will.
