Awesome review as always Matt! I didn't initially think I would pick up the second set of these companion figures, however after seeing your review and admiring these figures, particularly the beautiful Tamm Romana here (and the other two!), I have pre-ordered this alongside the other sets here in Australia. These B&M sets are really getting more exciting each year - we are truly lucky fans!

Matt, can you tell if Sarah’s Martha torso was retooled to fit the SJA figure crotch & legs? Was wondering if the waist even turned and you showed it does! So a lucky coincidence they match and are compatible or some tooling trick and a great sign for future figure combos for even more varied body styles???

I don't think it was retooled it was just lucky that they fit together! You're right, hopefully that means more interesting combos in future.

Very nice. Superb review as always. We should be grateful to still get figures. Everyone who has tried to produce a range of Star Trek figures right now seems to fail. We are so very lucky that we are getting figures at all. If they need to cut a few corners to ensure we get them then so be it.

The peladon SJ I could just about take or leave, it's not the most exciting or memorable of looks, and I've never been a massive fan of the nimons costume, but they're still both welcome variants to have, and the Kroll Romana is an absolute must-have for me, it's my second favourite of Mary Tamm's seven costumes, it's wonderfully done, the new tooling was the smartest use for that that I think they could have done, I think I'd far rather have that and get a previously unachievable figure than have them use the new tooling to make Sarah's jacket open, or sculpt extra detail under R2's coat, if they have the budget for only one new body tooling for that set then Romana 1 is exactly the right place to use it for me, as soon as I get the chance I'm having this set.

The painted torso details on Romana II remind me of a Lego minifig. I understand the budgetary constraints, but at some point, as a consumer, I need better value for my purchase than that.

A newly tooled figure would probably be upwards of £20, which we've already seen with the Forbidden Planet line failed to find a market. With these three packs we're basically paying £6.50 per figure, which is pretty good value in this day and age for a figure with all of that articulation.

@@batmanmarch Yes, but sadly I'm in the US where the price on these from the approved US Amazon seller is pretty much 1-to-1 what it would cost each set to be shipped over from the UK individually, even with current inflated postal rates. With that cost baked in, gotta start making some tough choices.

You know, if they can use Martha’s top on SJA’s crotch n legs for Peladon Sarah, then presumably they could use Martha’s crotch and legs with SJA’s top torso n arms! That would be a very good body for a hand of Fear Sarah Jane! Paint the boots to look like tennis shoes and the pants and chest like the red n white striped jumpsuit, with red sleeves/undershirt, voila! As for hair length...They even had a different head sculpt for each Romana I which didn’t seem necessary IMO since neither matched the episode’s hairstyle (so why was it done?), so surely Sarah Jane was sculpted with different hair lengths in mind? If not, School Reunion Sarah’s hair on young Sarah’s head would do well. And still really want an official Pyramids Sarah (young Sarah head on belts granny body cast in antique ivory). That story would then be virtually complete with all main figures produced! Heck, I totally wouldn’t mind a Sarah Jane 3 pack!!! :-)

I'm surprised that they haven't used the body of any of the Sarah Jane Adventures figures for Sarah Jane. I remember someone saying that it would be good to use one of those previous bodies for a Terror of the Zygons Sarah. In fact, get a Ben Miller Primeval body repainted for Harry and re-release a Zygon and then you have a Terror of the Zygons boxset to go with Scottish Tom and Moustache Yates.

Is it just me, or Character Option seem to be churning out figs with existing tooling is a bit lazy and giving fans a load of repainted figures is not going to cut it.

It's a budgetary issue. The demand for Doctor Who figures isn't there like it was 12 years ago and tooling is very expensive. Unfortunately this is the next best option.

These reviews make people see them up close and want people to buy them. It's basically an ad through payment of figures lol

They wouldn't send these sets to those who can't get them because why would they? If they can't get them and they are a popular youtuber or have some influence on social media they'd definitely send them over to get as much spread as possible. So, for Bree Goid to not understand why, they are just simply jealous and COMPLETELY missing the point.

I have to ask. Do you actually have to pay for these when you get them sent. Or do you get them for free? If so remember people have a right to be fussy if they have to go out and spend £20 on each of these sets. Not saying your review is invalid but try to take that into account.

£20 is the cheapest, £40-£65 is the norm on eBay, which is where they all end up even BEFORE release. B&M is a poor steward for the line.

Matt is well known in the Doctor Who community so it makes sense for him to be sent the sets. Think of how many people that will be swayed by his review. Also B&M are the only people funding CO, so without them, we wouldn’t get the figures at all
