@@denmaroca2584 I'm sure Nicholas Briggs has never been a Dalek operator. You might be mixing him up with Nicholas Pegg. He is a Dalek operator. The main one I think. Probably in every Dalek story since "Dalek". And he could well be operating that Dalek. The one that says "I am not Nick." So it's probably an in-joke refencing him as well. (Apart from the similarity of names, Pegg and Briggs are both directors of Big Finish audios. So that might have been in your mind too. And Barnaby Edwards is another BF director and probably the #2 Dalek operator.) (You might also have been led astray by Nick Briggs playing a Dalek operator in _The Five-ish Doctors_ . He didn't actually operate a Dalek then either. He just played one of operators whose places the Doctors took while they were trespassing on the set.)
@johna56353 жыл бұрын
I think Nick was named Nick to set up that joke. I think the episode was set in a storage facility to set up the "Elf Storage" joke. I think Nick's use of the storage facility to keep the belongings of his ex's was explained to set up the "Ex terminated" joke.

Just in case you didn't know, the actress who played Sarah in this episode is Aisling Bea, a reasonably famous UK/Irish Comedian. Apparently, she was allowed to adlib a lot this episode, and I'm glad for it. She can be incredibly charming and charismatic, and she fit into the episode *so* well. Also, to answer your question about Directing: There is a new director for this episode. Annetta Laufer directed this episode after Azhur Saleem directed Flux.

Jodie. Freaking. NAILED IT. And so did Mandip (wow!), so did John (wow!), so did... everyone in this episode understood the assignment, so good, and so fun watching you enjoy this episode ;)

This was excellent. I’m glad that we will get a couple more specials with her, Yaz, and Dan. I feel like Jodie, much like Peter Capaldi, survived an uneven first year and has gotten better and better with time. Peter is still MY Doctor, but Jodie has become a very strong Doctor, which makes me very happy. Having seen her on Broadchurch and other stuff, I know what kind of work she’s capable of, and she has been more consistently on top of her game with the last season and a half.

Watching you ramble on about how much you love Doctor Who will honestly never get old! I gotta say, I really liked this episode. I admit, I went in expecting not to enjoy it - I've had some issues with Chibnall's storytelling, and holiday specials tend to not be my favorite episodes. But, this was a very solid episode, and definitely one of my favorites of 13's era. The time-loop premise was interesting and used effectively. The supporting characters were both likeable and engaging (despite my initial reaction to them being, "ffs do we really _need_ another straight romance?" I actually quite liked their relationship by the end). And they _finally_ explicitly addressed Thasmin, which makes me so damn happy. It's funny, Yaz is one of the longest-serving companions in the show's history, yet I still don't feel like we got enough of her. Hopefully they make good use of the two remaining episodes! Also, the moment which you highlighted at 8:44 might be my favorite 13th Doctor moment. The way she calls him out on trying to make his victory over the Daleks seem cleverer than it was, but then _immediately_ affirms that what he did was plenty clever already; he doesn't _need_ to try to make himself look any more impressive - that was honestly wonderful. And I love that she doesn't spell it out for him - imo that makes it feel more sincere. Like to her, it goes without saying that Nick doesn't need to prove anything. I'm really glad you took the time to highlight that, because it's such a small moment but it conveys so much about her character, and it's _brilliant._

Just found your channel, so glad I did. Great reactions. (Will go back and watch previous installments :) I’ve been shipping Yaz and the Doc forever so this episode was epic for that but for so much more as well… all of which you have discussed so I won’t rehash. When Yaz said that she hadn’t even told herself about her feeling I was right there with her. I didn’t come out myself until I was in my 30s some 20 years ago. And that came about because of the relationship of Tara and Willow on BtVS. So, for me this is not just another companion in love with the Doctor. This is representative. 13 is my first Doctor but I’ve been streaming the show back to 9-11 so I can get a better handle on the show as a whole… just watched The Angles Take Manhattan, oh my heart. I know from the history of this show we are most likely in for some heartache but I’m trying to have faith in the storytelling. I look at these three specials as 3 acts. We just saw act 1, Yaz coming out step one, act 2 Yaz and the Doc facing these feelings Act 3 what they decide to do with those feelings. End of act 3, I cry my eyes out.

I have mixed feelings on Thasmin. On one hand, it makes Yas more interesting as a character, which is something that was sorely missing in her first 2 seasons on the show. On the other hand, it's another companion who falls in love with the Doctor and I've never liked the 'will they/won't they' stuff with the Doctor and their companion. It's why my favorite companions have been Donna, Jack, Billie, the combination of Amy and Rory. And now Dan of course.

That Yaaz feels something has been seen but if in the next episode they said that the Doctor also feels something for her for me it would feel forced.

I think she feels a lot for Yaz. She feels a lot about everything. (Council of Geeks has a KZbin video where he decides that 13 is a Hufflepuff, along with 9 and 11.) However, I agree that she doesn't feel "that" for Yaz. And I agree that she seems to be showing discomfort and concern at the idea. Or rather at the discussion, when it's brought up. She has become aware that Yaz "likes" her, but she doesn't want to deal with it. I think this Doctor _feels_ a lot. More than most of the Doctors. However, she doesn't always _show_ it. In "The Ghost Monument" she quietly apologises to the TARDIS for losing her key and awkwardly delays taking leave of Yaz and the others until Yaz invites her to tea, when she accepts immediately. She feels empathy when Karvanista reveals that he was (and felt) abandoned, but she doesn't offer an apology because she doesn't "have those memories". The other Hufflepuff Doctors (as sorted by Council of Geeks) also find joy in their companions and in life, but they deal with romantic or sexual attention dismissively or jokingly. The 9th Doctor simply says "No." when Jackie suggests "Anything could happen." and covers up his embarassment at complimenting Rose's appearance, in "The Unquiet Dead", by saying "considering you're human". The 11th Doctor deflects attention by saying "But you're Amy." and is embarassed or naively amused at the affection shown by River Song. The 13th Doctor doesn't deal with the attention the same way. She doesn't deal with it at all. I think this is because she _feels_ more. She is aware that Yaz feels something (even if she isn't fully aware _what_ she feels), but she is also aware of her uncertainty and of what effect her response might have. So she doesn't respond at all.
@tenmark70552 жыл бұрын
I dont think they'd write it that way and if the Doctor felt nothing, she would have had no problem breaking it off. I think The Doctor is so tangled up she doesnt know how to deal with it... and lets face it, the BBC isnt going "to go there"... expect a tragic/unfulfilled ending

Probably one of the better Jodie episodes, since 12x08 and Flux Chapters 2 and 4. One setting and five characters [plus Daleks] - that's all you need, after the fairly messy, character-filled Flux serial. A few lines of dialogue and the fact they kept on talking while the time loop was decreasing [probably a nit-pick] were probably my only problems with the episode. I am also a bit concerned that Thasmin will have little time because of the two final specials, unless the episode length is surprisingly long. We'll see. And you know, Shayla, maybe while waiting - not saying you have to - now is the time to give Classic Who a quick look, including, ahem, a specific Third Doctor story. Happy New Year, Girl Scouts.

great reaction, this was amazing, I really like the Yaz and Doctor stuff but also It makes me kinda mad because they waited until Jodie has only two episodes left after this one, kinda seems like it could be a wasted storyline or just a storyline that has to be rushed because there is not enough time left for it, also this is my favorite Dan episode by far, he was great in The Flux but I thought the acting fell a little flat through most of it but here he was great,

11:04 - Took me a while to figure out that Yaz was actually talking about her sexuality. Because I thought it meant if she was wondering whether she is in love with her or not when in fact she was talking about her sexuality on whether she was into girls or no because The Doctor is a woman. Now this is something I've just noticed: from Rose to Amy to Clara and obviously River Song (not counting Bill), they were in love with The Doctor. Not the face of The Doctor but The Doctor in general whereas Yaz isn't. She's not in love with The Doctor, she's in love with the she-Doctor. 30:10 well she kinda needs or deserves to have one more season as The Doctor because when Covid happened, it was definitely the worst moment for her to be The Doctor. So hopefully in a couple of years they'll let her be The Doctor for more one season

@rookcrow3 жыл бұрын
Since each loop was starting one minute later, if someone dies in the first minute, they won't be alive for the next loop. Nick must've died in the first 2 minutes of the previous loop, which was going to be in the first minute of the current loop, so was going to mean he wouldn't make it to the next loop. The next times he died were with sufficient time to be alive in the next loop. I didn't fully understand it the first time I watched either, but I hope this makes sense!

I have mixed feelings about Yaz and the Doctor as a requited relationship prior. I wanted to ship them but didn't find they gave me much content other than Yaz clearly pining romantically. I don't find they portrayed the doctor as having feelings for Yaz however i think they did such a great job portraying Yaz falling for the Doctor. I personally see it as another Martha/10. I guess it's just hard to go from 12 punching a wall for a billion years for Clara to something i guess so subtle. I needed more one on one content - it seemed to me she cared for Yaz equal to the other TARDIS fam. I kinda wish we got a solo season with them to really build it up to mutual. So I have a lot of thoughts and it's not necessarily negative just...not positive in the way I feel it properly leads up to the Doctor also has feelings for Yaz. At first I thought Dan was calling out the Doctor for her having feelings for Yaz but as I watched again he is actually calling the Doctor out for KNOWING Yaz has feelings for her but ignoring it. So i think they haven't covered how the Doctor feels yet and I like them but I don't feel connected through the content as I was with Twelve/Clara.

PLEASE react to Attack on titan ! I promise that you will love it! Yes , it's an anime , and it's a true masterpiece . Personally , I wasnt understanding such a thing as anime, but then I saw AOT... By the way, I was enjoying the Doctor Who run with you, and im sure that your empathy and love to incredible written characters will suit with this show perfectly! Please, give AOT a chance ! Also, i am sure that lots of new people will know about your channel thanks to that reactions )

Ok, this is WAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY late, apologies, I remember I liked this episode, it was just fun which is what DW should be. The only thing I'm not on board with is the Doctor and Yas - PLEASE hear me out, I just feel like it's forced, not so much in this episode as it was at least teased in Flux, but what comes as a response from the Doctor next episode definitely does, but I'll get to that.

The Thasmin dynamic has been pretty explicit since season 11. Yasmin and the Doctor being asked if they were a couple, and the Doctor looking to Yasmin for the answer was an answer in itself
