To me the best part of how this episode was put together is that there is a reason why the Weeping Angels don't move at particular times. It's because while the CHARACTERS aren't looking, we the audience ARE. They only ever move when both the characters AND the audience can't see them.

@@shadowfragmentBut they didn't. You're talking about the two part special pater on with the 11th doctor A time of angels and Flesh and Stone when we see the angels moving. But we aren't seeing the angels as they are always in statue form. We are seeing the angels move in that miniscule gap inbetween the frames of the film and turning back to stone. In that sense it is the best thing they've ever done with the angels

Carey Mulligan is fantastic in this episode. She's an academy award nominated actress now but back then she was basically unknown. She has to come in as a totally new character and carry the episode and keep the viewer into it and she knocks it out of the park.

My favourite story about this was from a Who fan from the Netherlands. A lot of people there tend to be fairly fluent in English, and this was when video calls were just getting _somewhat_ more common. Also, Doctor Who wasn't all that popular or well-known at the time. So that Who fan had the "easter egg" video of the Doctor on their laptop and went to a public park with lots of people. Sat down and had the exact "conversation" as Sally in the episode. They apparently got a _lot_ of looks from people around them 🤣

@Gamelover2545 жыл бұрын
Yeah it doesn’t make much sense. I think TV shows in general are more story driven as it has to get you back for the next episode so the writer gets credit if its good but the directing is SOO important. Actors have to be given motivation, how to say lines, what the context of the scene is, how the emotions are expressed & even stuff like facial expressions are told to them sometimes. It is very odd the writer gets all the credit. I’m glad these two pointed it out.

This is not only the best episode of Series 3 for me, this is one of the best New Who episodes and just one of the best episodes of TV ever made IN MY OPINION. The mystery, the suspense, the music, the twists, The monster's absolutely genius concept and so much else around this episode. Especially the tragedies that have to play out because Kathy and Billy are relegated to another time completely because they happened to know Sally. I also love the ingenious concept of how the camera is used because even in scenes where Sally can't see them, the audience can which is why they only move in the dark. (Hope a future episodes doesn't fuck it up.) It's just a masterful piece of original, genius storytelling. Fleshed out a bit, it could be a movie in and of itself. And it's then a film I would use to introduce people to the Doctor Who universe.

Nothing. For one, you have to look into the angel's eyes for the image of an angel to be dangerous, and the angel in the photo in Sally's packet was covering its eyes, so no threat there. Beyond that, though, it was always going to be safe because it already _was_ safe (in other words, it's a causality loop). If the picture she included was dangerous, then the Doctor would have been "infected" with an angel when he looked at it, it would have killed him from the inside out because he would've had no idea what was going on, and then he wouldn't have been able to use the packet to help Sally get through her experience. But if he didn't help Sally, she would've died too, and then she wouldn't have been able to give the Doctor the packet in the first place.
