Doctor Who: Rogue Review

My thoughts on the sixth episode of Doctor Who season 1 (series 14) titled Rogue. Doctor who's take on Bridgerton.

I presume people aren't literally suggesting they prefer an actual "asexual" Doctor. It's more that his romantic and sexual life isn't shown on screen. We know the doctor is a father from episode 1 of the classic show, so he must have had sex in some form at one point!

@@dogblessamerica Go back and watch Tenant era. Season 3, just lost his love Rose, immediatly snogs Martha, falls in love as John Smith (still wants her after returning to time lord) then ends the season snogging Kylie Minogue (Astrid). His romantic and sexual life has been quite central to new-who this whole damn time.

The Doctor/Rogue romance might have worked better IF they had played it out over the course of the season. I like Ruby Sunday well enough, but I want the season of The Doctor and Rogue travelling the stars together, developing a real relationship, and EARNING that, "Come find me." line. As it is, the way it developed felt way too fast. I mean he knew the guy for like a couple of hours.

@@thewhoview Yeah. My main problem is that we're back on the doctor romance train. Although this does feel more warranted than Rose or Clara, so there's that.

I think the doctor (and rogue) quickly clock each other as fellow travellers with similar losses in their past, and who deal with that loss in similar ways. This builds a rapport between them quickly. The kiss takes place when rogue is about to sacrifice himself for the doctor's best friend, and therefore miss out (once again) at the potential chance of a happy future with someone he instinctively senses is a potential true soul mate.

i agree The Doctor should stay A-Sexual. When RTD introduced Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, i guessed we would get these kind of episodes. He did the same in Torchwood with John Barrowman's Captain Jack

He played the doctor in the 2003 webcast animation doctor who scream of the shalka. It came out before the show came back in 2005, but it's NOT canon

There was very little story but it did have a sense of being Who. Beyond that it was truly awful. Why, in a show predominately aimed at children, do they push in every single episode LGBTQI+++ bullshit?

Because Sex Education was very successful for Netflix and RTD sold the idea of a gay Doctor to Disney with it's star as the Doctor. Shame it all backfired.

Ncuti Gatwa is playing a happily gay man in his 30s. He’s not playing the Doctor. Sorry, the Doctor is not Gay. Expect the ratings to plummet after this. A backlash is coming!

Why do you assume that gay or bisexual men would be interested in the doctor being gay that's ridiculous. Most of us just want the doctor to be a super intelligent alien who travels in time and space and has fantastic interesting adventures. Zero interest in whoever he wants to kiss. We have little enough Doctor Who why do we have to waste it on romance??

Once more Disney buys something only to dump on it. This is so woke we love the last Doctor Who now more than ever. So, no likes here if you think this is Doctor Who. Come up with your own characters and stories and stop dumping on normal characters because you lack imagination to come up with a story everyone would like...we know why because you can't so you woke up things everyone likes then complain when it fails because you couldn't come up with a new story. And if you like this new Doctor Who you are not a Doctor Who fan...
