And of course the name Adric came from the fact that he was a brilliant mathematician, as it is an anagram of Dirac (as in Paul Dirac, British physicist of some repute).

If you look at Mathew Waterhouse in the original series, he reminds me a lot like my neighbor, straight best friend, who even at 7 years old I fell in love with. Luckily we fooled around with til he switched to girls. Best dude, went to his weddings. I was lucky.

It's amazing how self aware and articulate he is here considering what a lousy actor he was. I guess he was let down by poorly written dialogue though.

Doctor Who was already in decline by the time Waterhouse joined. It's never recovered from losing Tom Baker. And nowadays it's made by gay men; it's just camp and silly
