Both Andrew Cartmel and Sylvester McCoy wanted to run with the mystery man idea because Sylvester thought that his Doctor should be.

I liked the idea that the Doctor was going to be a mystery man in season 25 and 26. At the end of Silver Nemesis Ace asks him who is he. The Doctor responds with a finger to his mouth. In Battlefield Season 26 he is recognised as Merlin. He is also a man of mystery in the Curse of Fenric.

This was the first season that I ever watched. Started watching with Happiness Patrol when I was 6. I agree with you on Silver Nemesis. As great as Remembrance is (and it really is), it's good to just have some straight forward sunny pantomime. Silver Nemesis delivers this in spades, and Lady Peinforte is on another level of bat-shittery. I love McCoy's era, and I think Andrew Cartmel was the best script editor the series had after Robert Holmes left in the 70s.

I'm a huge Cartmel fan and I think it was incredible how he managed to achieve making the Doctor “front and center" whilst still giving the companion more floor space than at any other point in the show's history. Feels like 25 is when JNT finally got the team he needed so he could do what he did best in terms of budgeting, packing and promotion of the show.

I believe that with this release all the Sylvester McCoy seasons will have been released. That only leaves Davison season 2, Pertwee season 1, and Tom Baker seasons 2 and 5 left in the classic collection to be released. There is of course the entire black and white era of the show to do but there are so many missing episodes that who knows if we will ever be able to get complete season sets. I was honestly surprised that the BBC was able to release a Hartnell season 2 set. The problem is especially bad once you get to Troughton. Perhaps the best we can expect is a "best of" Troughton bluray set.

My favourite season of one of my favourite doctors and Companions. We get the extended cut of nemesis. I'm so happy. Also my favourite feature on the sets are the behind the sofa and it's great to see Janet is there. It doesn't feel right when shes not included 🤣 But everything about this is wonderful. I'm so friggin excited it's ridiculous 😁

@@JoeSiegler While Lee did the artwork for the box, the mockup you’re seeing of the box set is likely done by someone in the marketing department (since no physical copies of the box may exist at this stage). They just cut and paste Lee’s artwork and placed it on an image used for the Season 8 set. I really wouldn’t worry about it. The actual box you receive will have the correct number on it.

Season 20 boxset had 9 discs. About the escape room feature - wonder if there will be 2 on the Season 21 boxset, one for the 5th doctor and one for the 6th doctor as there isn't another 6th doctor set to be released to include the 6th doctor one on.

A nice release. Always liked this season, but that is largely due to Silver Nemesis and Remembrance. I think I am liking Happiness Patrol more than I used to. Greatest Show was always fun and multi-layered. The new effects footage in the trailer the BBC just dropped looked particularly good. 7th and Ace were always "my" Doctor as it was airing when I was a kid of the 80s so saw it all first run. Pretty sure I had a crush on Ace...

Brilliant choice for next collection box set, one of my favourite series ( probably best McCoy series). BBC HAVE RAISED THEIR GAME REGARDING SPECIAL EFFECTS. Looking forward to seeing updated special effects. I have already ordered my copy from ZAVVI. another great run through and blog thank you. sad to see though that there is no mini movie to support the release.

Not a top season for me, but even my least favorite classic seasons have been a fun romp on these Collection box sets. So many great extras to dive into. Does any other television series get this kind of treatment? If so, I haven’t heard of it. Greatest Show in the Galaxy is my favorite story of the season, just because it’s so odd, but not freakishly odd like Happiness Patrol. Unfortunately I have long disliked Silver Nemesis but am willing to give it another try. (Gotta try at least once per decade!) Some stories I once disliked eventually won me over.

Except for the trailer being a complete bore since it had no storyline like the last several trailers have, I am excited for all of the contets in this set. Just got my email from HMV about this release. 2 stories i love from this season. Remembrance of the Daleks and Silver Nemesis . Don't like Happiness Patrol and the Greatest show in the galaxy. I hate circuses and find happiness patrol really boring. Can't wait to get this season. It will complete my Sylvester McCoy collection. I understand that the release date is the 21st of October 2024. Lee Bindings artwork is great as usual. Just preordered mine.

It’s certainly much higher on my list of things I’ll enjoy on this set than the extended versions of the stories, commentaries, In Conversation features and other interviews, all of which hold a combined zero interest for me, whereas (as someone with an actual interest in the subject) I will very much enjoy watching the Collection Escape Room series (as I already did on its first instalment).
