If I was going to bring back Sutekh, even though Big Finish had already done it years ago, I would have tried to set it up better. Given that new fans may not be aware of Sutekh, I'd have references to Egyptian mythology in a couple of the episodes instead of having Susan popping up in different time periods. It wouldn't be every episode, allowing more stand-alone episodes, but it would be there. At first just an Egyptian symbol or something that Ruby notices and the Doctor explains to her, later we see it again and we have a story involving Egyptian artefacts, which reminds the Doctor of Pyramids of Mars but doesn't seem to obviously rip off that story. Then, finally, we find out that there is an attempt to resurrect Sutekh. One aspect of Pyramids of Mars not picked up is that as well as possessing the corpse of Laurence Scarman, Sutekh had a human helper Ibrahim Namin who seemed happy to serve him till he was killed so might there not be a cult of Sutekh hanging around fanatically devoted to him who might try and bring him back? Sutekh's mind is very powerful, he managed to mentally get inside the Tardis in Pyramids of Mars and the Doctor says at the end that it took Sutekh 7000 years to die (from Sutekh's point of view) so he had time to think about how he might survive. If the cult still had some Osiron technology, maybe his mind could reach out through the Vortex and contact them through that technology. Even though this series takes place over a century after Pyramids of Mars, Sutekh would still be around, so just think up a reason why he had to come back at this time. Maybe he needs a body as a vessel to inhabit, and maybe Ruby is that vessel. That would give her some significance and be a better story arc. The woman in the cloak would be part of the cult. Leaving her to be found as part of his plan. The enigmatic Mrs Flood could be a member of the cult sent to watch over Ruby till they're ready to make their move. I've heard a saying "A Ruby in the dust", how fitting would that be if she did actually end up turning people into dust? The Doctor figures out a way to get Sutekh out of her, saving her and dooming him to the fate he was left in in the original story.

The Doctor Falls or even Twice Upon A Time would have been probably as good a place to end the show as any. 10 seasons in the new show, and an episode which concludes the character development of the Doctor which started in Series 1, while also bringing it full circle with the first doctor and resolving the characters of The Master. It felt like the show should at least have taken a hiatus here, if not ended for good.

As a gay man, I feel so bad for Ncuti Gatwa. The constant crying feels like a subliminal stereotype that's ruining the portrayal of the Doctor. And no it isn't his fault, its RTD's who I would say should know better but he's made homophobic jokes with the 9th Doctor. Also I have little respect for that man for ruining Christopher Eccelston's career after he was pointing out how creepy that Jack Harkwhatever actor was.

He is in effect a massive pu55y. I wonder if Ncuiti knew this would happen before he signed on. I had great expectations and high hopes for Mr Gatwas Doctor but the writing was abysmal. Space Babies - Nanny saves the day Devils Chord - Beatles save the day Boom! - AI saves the day 73 yards - Ruby saves the future ish Rogue - Rogue saves the day, and the Dr's incompetence nearly gets her killed while he's off flirting. Mostly agree. RTD's attitude towards the fans with any criticism is very off putting and his writing is quite weak especially compared to 2005. The new Doctor is also weak spending more time crying and whining and I also didn't like the bi-generation. Worse yet for me was the way they handled Sutekh and how easy it was in defeating him. The end of this season remains one of the weakest to date sadly. Sad but true and I have heard others say the same thing- the best story of this season was the one that didn't feature the Doctor. When could that be said anywhere in the shows past before Jodie's era?

However, I take a crap episode like Space Babies over any or all of Series 11 anyway. When people say Demons of the Punjab is a Masterpiece, I'm like what?! Both Chibnill & RTD2 suffer from a lack of character development plus depth. Ryan, Graham & Yaz seem identical to how they were in the Woman who fell to Earth. Paradoxically, Ruby from Church on Ruby Road to Empires of Death is the same as well. It's funny how my favourite episode of Series 14 is Boom the one where the Doctor can't be as emotional. Crying is A-OK thumbs up but when it's nearly every story it's too much.

The 9th Doctor had one season (and an actual reboot season at that), and he made the most of it. For everyone who’s commented that they liked this series and don’t understand the hate for it- the new direction they are trying to take the doctor and the show are so far removed from the themes that carried the show across so many actors and seasons, it’s ridiculous. The show is now 100% message instead of story with “the message” worked into the characters and events. Each episode can be boiled down to “the anti-_____” episode (must make babies, capitalism, religion, social media, etc) The ending to the series doesn’t explain or pay off anything around Ruby. That feels like they had a plan and had to scrap it & throw something together at the last minute. The new doctor doesn’t have any presence. He’s just some guy going around and doing things. He’s not someone that an enemy would be concerned with, let alone scared of. Sure, they’ve dropped the “lonely god” archetype. That’s fine, I am ok with that change. But who they’ve changed him into is not The Doctor in any way.

You are entitled to your opinion ofc and this video is very well made, good job on that front but I feel you could've gone deeper to really explain why you feel this way Edit: for an example so you know what I mean- your section on dot and bubble is around 1 minute long and half of it is dedicated to a minor gripe that doesn't matter and the other is dedicated to a good scene at the end. Going a little bit deeper would help us the audience understand why you like/don't like something

@liamnidas
@liamnidas 6 ай бұрын
I actually do agree with you and it's something I've struggled with a little. Ultimately, if I'd gone any deeper with my analysis I wouldn't have released the video on time. If I was a bigger channel and I knew that there was an audience waiting for me then I'd have considered going deeper and making a longer video, and releasing later. Plus, whilst my video doesn't have the best editing in the world, it does still take me quite a while. And a longer video with more thoughts would eat up even more time. So I'm actually quite happy to hear you liked that element. There's also the fact that my last Doctor Who video got taken down by the BBC so I also didn't want to risk making a really long video just for it to get taken down again. Honestly, I was really worried that would happen to this video. Also, the example you've given is really good. I will say that I did mention at the beginning of the video that there would be some criticisms that might seem minor or like nothing to others but were a big deal to me, Lindy not being able to walk is one of them. For me, it crossed the line. It was too silly for me to take the rest of the episode seriously. Cus, like other parts of the series, it just doesn't make sense that she can't walk properly, and just because the Doctor and Ruby both find it unbelievable doesn't suddenly rectify that. It's also the only way, before the ending where the little ball tries to kill Lindy, that Russell T. Davies tries to manufacture tension in the episode since the only time Lindy is in any danger is when she nearly walks right into the monster's mouth. It was just far too silly for me. Also, whilst I didn't go deeper on both those points. They were both part of a wider point. Lindy not being able to walk as part of Russell T. Davies's weak writing and penchant for going really silly this season and things not making sense. And the other about Ncuti's acting. Because I criticised his Doctor a fair bit but that scene at the end is by far his best piece of acting as the Doctor this season. Anyway, I rambled a little. Thank you for the criticism. It's good to help me improve and I'll try and take it onboard and hopefully the next video is better because of it. And again, thanks for complimenting the editing. That's another area I often stress about.

@L1z43vr

The problem isn't that people won't know who he is and would be confused. The problem is that people won't know that he is a returning villain that is being RE-introduced to us as this massive plot twist. Sure, you could argue the Daleks and the Cybermen were reintroduced like this, but I'll argue this point: The Daleks and the Cybermen had been introduced at the middle of the season and served as a Chekov's gun for the finale. We had an entire episode to reintroduce these enemies and _why_ they were dangerous and show us _who_ they are only using that episode, without having to rely on Classic Who footage or lore (for instance, the Daleks being a threat in the Time War, and the Cybermen being alternative versions of an "old enemy" the Doctor faced). Meanwhile, Sutekh just appears as a dog (which he wasn't in Pyramids of Mars), the Doctor says he did cultural appropriation of the Egyptians (which he didn't, the Egyptians saw Horus and the Osirians as gods and worshipped him) and that he had to ascend to godhood (he didn't, he was just that good). I think another commenter said it perfectly: "If you have the characters watching Pyramids of Mars in a memory TARDIS to reintroduce the villain, you've failed to reintroduce the villain." Edit: Also, I forgot to mention this, but if you're trying to market this series as this new jumping on point for new viewers, don't bring up a villain that only appeared once. Like, you maybe you could get away by using Omega, since I believe he appeared a few times during the Fifth Doctor's tenure, but... Actually, what am I typing? Don't bring anyone from the past eras, make a new villain! Introduce a new threat to the Whoniverse. Russel managed to do most of that with Series 1 in 2005, with the Slitheen and the ghosts with Charles Dickens, and that weird thing from Satellite Five. Maybe do that again instead of picking up threats from the earlier seasons, or in this case, earlier shows.

Everything you said was completely on point. Out of all the episodes Boom was my favorite. I gotta be honest. This soured almost the whole season for me. I feel like Russell T Davies basically mocked the audience for even theorizing Ruby's origins were anything extraordinary. I saw people speculating she was related to the Doctor, or she was created by the Lord of Fiction, or she was the daughter of Toymakers sister who was the queen of Time. All those theories would've been so much better. RTD said the Timeless Child would feed into the dynamic with Ruby, it didn't. He also said he'd do something with it and based on the 60s specials I thought the events of the Flux would come up. Basically I thought This entire thing was building towards the Doctor being at fault for all this happening, since the Flux and Wilde Blue Yonder. I thought fifteens arc was supposed to be making up for ruining the Universe by letting these gods in. RTD said the tales of the Tardis would make sense after this and it didn't. How did the memory Tardis exist? Why were past versions of the Doctor meeting past companions? Dunno f#@* me right? I thought Ruby would have some kind of power over memories, create the memory Tardis to help the Doctor and give him closure with his past lives to energize him to defeat Sutekh. Nope Jesus Christ! I also thought maybe Sutekh would be her father and Her mom pointed at him to warn him to stay away from her or the Doctor by bringing him to her. Nope she was pointing at a sign. TF is going on? And apparently Sutekh was on the Tardis since Tom baker but The Tardis never tried warning the Doctor or she didn't shake it off when The Tardis exploded, imploded, got her soul placed in a human body, became a paradox machine etc? Yeah right. I just feel like all Russell did, everything he's done since he's been back has been, well because he could. "Doctor who isn't supposed to make sense dont think about it too hard." He completely just talked down to us the entire time. "Like oh If anyone's upset grow up it's Doctor who ". I can't believe everyone gave Moffat so much bs because Davies isn't any better. I grew up on Moffat so never had rose tinted glasses for RTD. And if next season's are anything like this I might have to step out. And I really don't want to. Ncuti and Millie deserved so much better.

it would of been better if Ruby was River's/Doctors child. this would of made sense of "there is a song deep inside her", her connection with the doctor, him saying "i know my granddaughter but i haven't meet my children yet. life of a timelord", also her connection with making it snow would of made some sense. would of made sense of them bringing up Susan so much. like that would be her future child that already traveled with the doctor. Also it would of made a good end to River all together.

Agreed with most of your episode analysis. All RTD's worst traits to the fore - rabbits out of the hat, love conquers all, sledge hammer political messaging - but worse still was the sheer sloppiness of the writing. 73 Yards felt chilling to begin with, but unravelled the further it went, and actually became insulting by the end - as did the series itself. The two old Rubies were played by different actresses. My feeling is the next series will turn all this on its head and we'll discover this is all an alternative reality. Or (gulp) a dream... By the way, I really like Ncuti as an actor and as the Doctor. Millie Gibson is not bad, but both were ill-served by the characterisations, artistic decisions (Dr-lite and the feckin musical numbers!) and awful plotlines. Ruby is ordinary so we're all special! Except the Doctor, of course, who's the feckin Timeless Child from nowhere and a (feared / hated) god even to the Time Lords. Honestly, there's still the occasional good episode, but Doctor Who jumped the shark after Capaldi left. What a waste.

I enjoyed the middle of the series but the first two episodes and finale where extremely mid. On one side I am glad to see better representation but RTD also has this problem of "Overcorrecting" such as the Davros retcon where he created a problem that didn't really exist before, the Sonic screwdriver stuff, the awful "Male presenting time lord" line which made me as a trans person cringe or the sutekh cultural appropriation line which made me roll my eyes. He does good things on the casting and I loved the sutble twist about racism in dot and bubble but he also does what I like to call stupid RTD shit from time to time. Sadly I feel this more naunced criticism gets lost because there is a huge market for youtube channels screaming about "Everything I don't like is woke reeee!" Also eight episodes is far too little, I miss having a good meaty two parter that wasn't just the series finale plus with two doctor light episodes we never had a lot of time to get to know 15.
@liamnidas
@liamnidas 6 ай бұрын
Completely agree with everything you just said. The overcorrecting has the exact same effect on me. It just always pulls me out of the episode. Like the show is stopping to make a point regardless of whether it actually fits in the episode or not. I also did like the subtlety of the racism in dot and bubble. I had been spoiled on it by my one friend who's a massive Dr Who fan and given this is Russell T. Davies who likes to overcorrect, I was a little worried about how it was going to be handled. But it was done quite well and in my opinion led to Ncuti Gatwa's best piece of acting in the series. And yeah we need more episodes and more two-parters. Some of the best stories in Doctor Who are two-parters. A lot of people think David Tennant's first series as the Doctor is quite weak but everyone loves the two-parter episodes.

I’m just going to say, some of your criticisms are just bad. I also think that this is the worse Season of since 2005, not counting Chibnial. For starters while yes I agree 15 cries too much, that isn’t his only quality. Ncuti does a great job showing a lot of the different emotions of the Doctor. When it comes to this Doctor we haven’t gotten much for a character study of him and that I think is unfortunate, I get it is annoying, but I wouldn’t write her off. When it comes to your complains about Ruby, you could apply that to most Doctor Who companions. They never really go into building up the relationship, what matters typically is the dynamic they have. I’d say Ruby works really well with 15, although the exit felt very forced. To be 15 and Ruby helped carry a lot of this season, because the Christmas Special and The 1st Episode weren’t good. I liked the 2nd Episode for the most part. LOVED BOOM and it is a CLASSIC MUST WATCH. I agree with your issues with 73 Yards because they never answer any questions and completely switch to a different villain. Also this is a minor thing, but stop saying that Roger is the most dangerous Prime Minister because remember when The Master destroyed the Earth. I think Dot and Bubble needed more time because they never get me to care about any other than Ricky because they are a bunch of rich spoiled brats, it could of been good but that made it ok. Then when it comes to Rogue, it was fine, was it dumb that shows keep trying to ignore the very big racism from the Elitist British people, yes. Doctor Who tends to do this at times, and when needing to handle stories in the past I get it. Also Rogue isn’t just New Jack, my big issue with him is he feels more like another Doctor and they moved past him being a bounty hunter far too quickly. When it comes to Legend of Ruby Sunday and Empire of Death I feel Sutekh’s return is similar to The Master where they build him up but it felt ending Empire was like most Doctor Who Finales rushed. It isn’t an excuse, but let’s stop acting like that is unique. Also about Rose, she is the most waisted character in Doctor Who, I feel like she is brought in, just to be their. With the Ruby Mystery, this was a bad ending. If it was something that Ruby would only focus on than maybe, but when she makes it snow something the Doctor hasn’t seen before, or something that scares a god, then that is just bad. I liked the video, even if I didn’t agree with some of your criticisms, I want the show to be better and hope in the future it is.

The season was very confusing. 73 Yards seemed like it was solely made for those "Ending Explained" KZbin videos. Fighting Gods with nigh-unstoppable powers is definitely not what Doctor Who as a whole is about. I disliked the twists in Space Babies, and "Why did I run, I never run." rang hollow when the Doctor's said RUN in multiple incarnations. I know he's the negotiating type, but he also very much does run. If the future person is commenting on race, the ballgown people should be, too, I agree. Have race be a bigger thing, otherwise there's no point in him being black now. Ruby is a lot of what I hated about Clara. They're less characters, more mysteries. I like that we have a friendly Doctor now, compared to 12 and 13. We just need regular people back too, like Martha or Donna, not sci-fi nonsense people like Clara and Ruby. Normal people who DO extraordinary things, not people who ARE extraordinary things right away.

I think my issue with the Doctor killing isn't necessarily that he kills, but his reaction to it. Like in the finale he says to Sutekh that he won because he forced him to kill but other times he kills without a second thought. Then in Human Nature he can't even bring himself to kill the scarecrows. I don't mind if the Doctor kills as long as it has some sort of impact on him. See now for me it’s all about the ending. Original Blade runner 3*, directors cut 5*, so both those episodes fell flat for me. 73 yards poses so many explicit questions to the viewer and answers none - in fact the one answer it did give (apart from everyone guessing it after the first time jump), that the watcher was Ruby just raised more questions. Likewise Dot and Bubble fell apart after the death of Ricky, firstly why genetically engineer slugs to kill people alphabetically? You don’t need the slugs we can see in what the dot can do. And why alphabetically? Computers are really good at multitasking. Also is the point that they’re all racists or that technology has destroyed their empathy in general? Her killing of Ricky means she’s a psychopath, an equal opportunity psychopath. It felt like the episode had two points it wanted to make but couldn’t pick one and so botched both.

There are two reasons why people like 73 Yards. The first is that it's the best of a bad bunch. Everybody knows it's not a great episode compared to when Doctor Who was actually good. However, compared to the rest of the trash in this season, it looks like a masterpiece. People are using the rest of this specific season as a point of comparison, not Doctor Who as a whole. The second reason is that Millie Gibson can actually act. Ncuti Gatwa can only play Ncuti Gatwa. Millie Gibson isn't just playing herself. I don't get why they brought him back. Or at least they should have done a much better job of reintroducing him. If you have to make a KZbin video explaining Sutekh to new audiences then you've clearly failed to do that.

i watched 4 episodes of the 15th "doctor" season, and honestly, for me doctor who officially ends at the end of Capaldi's doctor. Anything after that just did not have the gravitas and writing and especially acting it should have had in my opinion. I don't mind the black doctor thing, but the character of 15 is just... annoying, compared to the imposing or charming renditions we had before up to, and including, 12. I do hope they lsiten to the critique and improve it to where it should and can be, but i don't hold much hope for it. Time will tell.

I have a lot to say about this: Like you say, the doctor does cry a lot in this series, and i do agree that it is a little over the top, but nowhere near as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Ot does feel like a bit of a stereotype towards gay people (i do fit that stereotype but im an acception that proves the rule), but to me its no different to 10 always kissong poeple and falling in love! Some people fo cry a lot, and that is just this doctors thing Ruby sunday is just like and average person, who just so happend to meet the doctor, not destined to save the world, she just regular The fourth wall breaks is a new thing which is a part of this era, rtd has said that. You cant just say something is bad because 'doctor who never did this'. How is the show supposed to develop if it cant do anything new? 14 isnt in 73 yards because this is not his series. Putting the old, straight white man as the doctor really would seem like they dont have faith in the new, queer black man as the doctor. Also, 14 has settles down now, hes not fighting monsters and saving the world anymore, he's done. This epiosde is supposed to make you ask those questions, you arent supposed to know the answer And mad jack wasnt released if the doctor dint step And there was no development in the Doctor and rubys relationship, so whether it was undone or not doesn't take away from their relationship Lindy not being able to walk is supposed to be stupid, highlighting (and exaggerating) the problems with todays social media Also, complaining about tye doctor crying and tyen saying his only good part was when he cried? Fall in love too quickly? - the empty child - tye Christmas invasion - thw girl in tye fireplace - the beast below - the snowmen - other episodes probably Whats the difference? They're gay. What does that tell me about you... Also, nobody cares about the doctors race, because clearly, these people are some acceptions to tye prejudice pf tye time, with there being other black people in the episode Rose is there because she clearly works there... Again, fourteen is not a part of this series, and he would be time locked Its not a bad reveal because you didnt know, a lot of people know who he is. Sontarans, ice warriors, the master, autons, are all examples of returning villans as well We are also shown that sutekh is powerful, by literally being told that he is the god of death Anagram was just a word in a songle line, its not a plot point, so why go on about it for 3 minites Also, that S in S Triad stands for Susan! You would be scared if the god of death was standing directly in front of you We know everything will be reverted at the end? - the big bang - the parting of the ways - the stolen earth - turn left - last of the time lords AGAIN fourteen is not a part of this series IT MAKES SENSE that he wont return because he has settled down for good now ! Harriet was bad, as she was sent by sutekh to warn us of his coming You say that bringing him back after 50 years was bad, and then ypu say thay you waited 50 years??? He never changes davros! Overall, i sense a lot of unconscious bias in this video with rose and the doctor getting a lot of hate, but i do kind of agree this season wasnt tye best, but it was not the worst either . Im not trying to cause an argument by the way i just want to share my thoughts
@liamnidas
@liamnidas 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the thoughts. The issue isn't really that the Doctor cries, it's the frequency of it. He cried in every episode except for 73 Yards. And now it's going to feel like every episode we're just waiting for the Doctor to cry again. I actually did like that he was more emotional at first. It was an aspect that reminded me of Ten, my favourite Doctor, who was also a more emotional Doctor. Except his emotions were a lot more varied and he didn't only cry. the problem is that I'm now desensitised to scenes of fifteen crying. And any truly big emotional moment won't carry the same weight because he cries over a lot of things. It doesn't take much to break him down. Ruby being ordinary is fine. The issue is that the show went out of its way to make her seem extraordinary. Why was it snowing? As Russell T. Davies has said himself he was thinking about social media engagement with this aeries and Ruby exemplifies that. It feels like he wanted to get people to speculate about Ruby's mom and the mystery whilst never having any intention of paying it off. I don't like the fourth wall breaks for the same reason I don't like the musicals. it's a part of subjective taste. Dr Who has broken the fourth wall before but never so consistently. For me, it pushes the show a little further away from Dr who is, or at least how I view it. If other people like that then that's fine but it didn't work with me. And will it ever be explained why Mrs flood can do it? If it's anything like ruby and her mystery then I doubt it. I don't want Fourteen to return. I wanted him to actually regenerate into Fifteen. The issue is that it doesn't make sense for Fourteen to not get involved when the world is constantly in danger. How many times will we accept that fourteen was off world or some other excuse before it becomes a running gag? My friend told me that he wanted fourteen to return just so that they can kill him off because every time something major happens in the present he's going to think 'but what is fourteen doing right now?' It's not his personality to just sit back and let people die because he's chilling. I don't mind Rose working there. It's just that they did absolutely nothing with her character. she didn't add anything. She could have been removed from the final two episodes and nothing would be different. Also, it wasn't just rose that I didn't really like, I did say that it was the entire UNIT crew minus Kate that were getting on my nerves. The Sutekh reveal doesn't work because it is different to every other return that you mentioned. All of those returning villains are given the entire episode for us to know who they are. In Dalek, that episode shows how terrified the doctor is of it and how much he hates it and Rose doesn't understand why (like some viewers) and so throughout the episode we see why it's so terrifying and the episode reintroduces it to use. Same with the sontarans, ice warriors etc. if you don't know these villains then it isn't long for you to find out. With Sutekh it's at the end of the episode and treated in a way as if you would already know. but those that don't would have to look it up etc. They also had to make an entire video explaining the pyramids of mars. it's the reason why the toymaker worked (Donna's there going who's this? and instantly we get all the info.) Whereas with Sutekh, the episode ends and you're either like "omg sutekh's back' or 'I don't know who that is." The anagram I brought up because it was genuinely stupid. It's not an anagram and was something that even positive reviews pulled up. Because I have looked at positive reviews to see if there were things that I missed or didn't get. Even they were like 'ok The Legend of Ruby Sunday, great episode, although the doctor saying the wrong anagram when it's not an agagram was silly.' Won't bother everyone but when you've been finding Russell T. Davies's writing to be really weak this season, it's just another thing to point out and go 'that's wrong.' The doctor's best moment isn't when he cries. It's the bit before where even though they're being racist towards him and treating him terribly. He still wants to save them. He's begging with them to let him. That's who the doctor is to me. His frustration at being unable to save someone when he knows he can. It just happens that he also cries afterwards. You're right about the doctor falling in love. The only reason that I haven't criticised it before is because I didn't have a KZbin channel back then. I would have to rewatch those episodes to make sure there'e no major difference (like in girl in the fireplace she spends her entire life idolising him, not just one evening like Rogue). The race thing wouldn't be an issue for me if Dr who just picked a lane. Is this world like our or not? Because we get episodes like Rosa and then episodes where they don't bat an eye. The other issue is that in that episode the doctor tells rogue to brush up on his history because being gay back then would be scandalous and cause a scene. So they're following history when it comes to prejudice towards sexuality but not race? It's just a bit confusing and I have no idea if one episode we're going to follow established history or not. Is it a big thing? No. But it is still an issue that I had, and as I've seen from other reviews, even positive ones, I'm not alone in that issue. You're completely right about things being reverted at the end being a commonplace issue. but that doesn't mean that it wasn't an issue still. A reocurring problem is still a problem. He has changed Davros because he's said that the Davros from the Children in need special is how Davros will look for the rest of his Dr Who tenure. I disagree with the unconscious bias bit because the character that I liked the least this season was ruby. I didn't like her from day one. Fifteen on the other hand I actually initially liked, like I said in the video. And Rose is a nothing burger of a character.

The correct spelling of Sutekh is an Egyptian pictogram, and it is sometimes given as seth or set. It clear in Pyramids of Mars that the name described the Egyptian god who this being impersonated at one time, and he was worphipped by ancient Egyptians. I don't think you can say Sue-Tech is not a transcription of the same word into English. That it is not an anogram is obvious but the doctor always had trouble saying he was wrong. --- As far as the season being a disappointment. If your comparing it to series 11 or worse season 24, I don't think it let us down on that level. If you are comparing to start of the 10th doctor era, which I think you said you were, that was series 2 and series 2 wasn't that great. It included Fear Her, Idiots Lantern and Love and Monsters, and the best parts of the 10th era were in series 3 and series 4, at least in many opinions. Of course, series 2 did not massively dissappoint because new commers had little to base expectations on, and long time viewers were glad the show was back. Now I think you are seeing the tenth doctor era with nostalga filter, and basing expectations on that. As far as Pyramids of Mars goes, American can watch it on Tubi and Brits on the iPlayer. If you are asking why you look at a classical show, well if you are so disappointed in the new episodes, you might ask what got some of us hooked on the show decades ago. There are ups and downs and big disappointments (like season 24), the show keeps coming up with original things, and it is very different from anything else on TV. As long as I have been watching the show, since the 70s, there have been streams of outrage at how liberal the show is. Look up Mary Whitehouse. It may be liberal, but if weren't it would be a different show, and I doubt a really different show would have lasted this long.
@liamnidas

You are right there. There is some nostalgia. But even series 2 of Tennant had its highs and absolutely delivered its ending. This new season didn't have many highs and didn't get me to connect with fifteen. Whereas Tennant's first season got me hooked on his portrayal. Christopher Eccleston was able to do more with his short tenure than ncuti has so far. I'm hoping that things turn around because the specials showed that Russell T. Davies could still create good Dr Who episodes. But so far, his second tenure hasn't pushed Dr Who in enough of a better direction. Hence why Disney are apparently considering dropping Dr Who.

every time you say MY OPINION am gonna sip tea. the my opinion drinking game. the crying is emotiive and hits at really special moments and really translates his feeling. Your issue with a man crying is....odd. He's absolutely not boring or bland, so ya completely wrong there. Tom bakers doctor once said "theres no point in being grown up if you cant be childish sometimes" he's not childish all the time, and we've seen a sneak peack at the darkness coming out every so often. The musical number was awesome, and its strange you dont like musicals when most scifi shows are essentially musicals, music makes the theme. Space babies was a very very very silly episode ahah. The music number was very silly and fun, and you can keep repeating the line, theres lots of songs that do that, its a thing. it happens because the magic is still in the air. The 4th wall breaks are really fun, its not "crap" Boom was great! finally we agree. your minor thing is blah, we know he's going to be ok, but he doesn't. We are seeing is episode. 73 yards was very much out side the box and hugely imginative, the atmosphere, the story, the music, the villian was spectacular. PART OF THE MSYERY IS not knowing what she said, not specificly knowing was such a great idea to creatre suspense. the not knowing everything gives it extra, and your not suppose to make sense of it, this is the new era and new rules of reality of things not making sense. its a great episode. "nothing special about ruby" we've had enough hero companions, we've had the chosen one ARC, so why cant we just have a normal person? the idea of them projecting that SHE'S SO SUPER IMPORTANT makes sense in this new reality. anyway, am done here. Ive got a general idea of what your critising and alot of it is either really petty stuff or just stuff you can'[t seam to grasp. good day sir.

If you've turned me saying in my opinion into a drinking game then you should easily be able to understand why I didn't like Ncuti Gatwa constantly crying. It's the exact same thing. Happens too often. Most sci-fis are not essentially musicals because they don't have songs and dances in them. Don't know what you mean by most sci-fis are essentially musicals. You're referring to a chorus in a song. Yes, most songs have a chorus that they repeat throughout the song. But most songs have other verses where they say something completely different to the chorus. That is why the musical number failed because it lacked variety. Ruby's mom being ordinary would have been fine had they not spent ages setting it up to be extraordinary. Even Gods wanted to know who Ruby's parents were and why it was always snowing.

Why did I stop watching Doctor Who I became a fan of Doctor Who around September of 1977 when my roommate introduced the show to me. My first Doctor Who story was “The Brain of Morbius” part one. (Season 13, serial 5) The Doctor was Tom Baker, and Elisabeth Sladen was his companion Sarah Jane Smith. There were elements of Gallifreyan history and it talked about regeneration. Directed by Christopher Barry, written by "Robin Bland" (Terrance Dicks rewritten by Robert Holmes), script editor Robert Holmes, and produced by Philip Hinchcliffe. One of the greatest teams in Doctor Who history. Has to be one of the better first stories for any newcomer. I stayed a fan of Doctor Who, watching when I could and reading any book I could find about the show, pre-internet, and Doctor Who stories, pre-VHS. I had no issues with a female Doctor. Counting the War Doctor, there were 13 incarnations, which was the established limit. We know that other Timelords had survived the Time War. The Doctor knowing his time is at the end runs across a female Time Lady and takes her on as his student. At the time of his death, he passes on all his knowledge and memories by telepathic contact. That didn’t happen, because as some of us recognized at the time and we all know now showrunner Chris Chibnall was more interested in checking as many WOKE boxes as he was in the show. It seems Russell T. Davis has the same goal this time around. Not being happy with the way, a female Doctor was introduced was not enough for me to stop watching Doctor Who. I got the DVD set when it came out. (That is how I view Doctor Who) Overall I felt Jodie Whittaker did a good job as the Doctor. Any fault anyone can have with her can be placed on Chibnall. He made the same mistake that was made by John Nathan-Turner did with Peter Davison. Three companions are too much when introducing a new Doctor, especially the first female Doctor. The only person who benefited from Chibnall's time as showrunner is JNT. He will no longer be remembered by some fans as the worst showrunner in the history of the show. Timeless Child is the story that ended Doctor Who for me. Chibnall completely destroyed what canon there was, and he turned the Timelords into child molesters. “The Doctor Who Timeless Child retcon subtly erases a classic legend.” screenrant.com/doctor-who-timeless-child-retcon-other-tecteun/ I have not completely given up on Doctor Who. I am so thankful for Big Finish. I believe the only way Davis can save the show is to pull a trick from “Dallas” and bring Whittaker back for a dream episode and erase her last two seasons or use Gatwa to erase the last three.

@@tom_4615 Mate you need to learn to be more respectful of other people. Look at the other comments on this video. There are plenty of people who disagree with me yet they have the maturity to discuss their disagreements with me. They don't just mock and be condescending.

@@liamnidas actually I don’t need to do anything. Your points were nitpicks, i see these types of “arguments” for every new era of the show and even though you might not realise, you only prefer rtds original run because of nostalgia
