"I'll be fine. I'll be with him, like I should be." It's so nice to see that Rory's devotion to Amy finally paid off. All through Season 5 and 6 I always got this vibe that he was giving her way more than she gave him. And in all the sadness of the scene, I was *very* happy for Rory that it finally paid off and Amy took the leap of faith for him. Great ending for one of the best on screen couples in the history of TV.

the bit from 0:37 to 1:01 is just so heartbreaking. When played slowly like it is here, the sampling from the young Amy's theme sounds like someone speaking their final words on their last breath, which is horrible when you consider how the theme conveys Amy's innocence and wonder.

Rory got shafted with no last words or anything, Amy decided to go with him after an emotional dialogue scene, and the Doctor decided NOT to go with them even though he would have lived long enough to get back to his TARDIS in the present because...? This scene will never, ever be anywhere near okay. It's been more than two years and I'm still upset about this.

No it's not... he has a time machine that go anywhere. He can meet them outside of NYC in the 1930's or in NYC at the earliest point in time he can land there. And even if he touched the angel, it's likely he'd run into Amy and Rory eventually, though it would take thousands of years.

Russell Tietjen you're missing the point. It's not that he can't physically get to Amy or Rory, it's that this point in time can't be rewritten, "once we know it's coming, it it's written in stone." Amy and Rory have to die in New York in the past now because the doctor and Amy have seen the writing on the tombstone. And as to why he doesn't just pop back and say hello / goodbye to them: the doctor would know that Amy wouldn't just let him come and go. He would have known from their trip to apalapachia that Amy would do anything to get inside of the tardis. So it would make more sense for him not to visit the ponds so as to not relive the heartbreak from the grave site all over again. And on top of all of this he knows that they had their happy ending (their 'fairy-tale' ending). And that's all he's wanted for her (i.e. the god complex)
