Since everyone's talking about Eleven, who I love, I'm putting this here as a reminder that this track was originally written for Clara and her personal sacrifice that made her worthy of being a companion, with a bit of the Eleventh Doctor's Long Song woven in at the end. Infinite Potential was initially the tale of a girl from 2013 who toppled a god. I think that stands remembering. 'Still hungry? Cause I've got something for you. This. The most important leaf in human history. THE most important leaf in human history. It's full of stories, full of history, and full of a future that never got lived. Days that should have been but never were, passed on to me. This is leaf isn't just the past, it's a whole future. There are billion and millions of unlived days for everyday we live, an infinity. All the days that never came. And these are all my mum's'. - One of Clara Oswald's first humanizing moments, and one of the few in Series 7. Thinking back on it, using Infinite Potential in The Time of the Doctor was a brilliant parallel, not only to Ten and his Ood song regeneration, but to one of the themes of The Rings of Akhaten, a sentimental episode that fit so well with Eleven's era. The ones we love stay with us, even after they die. The Eleventh Doctor never forgot Amelia Pond.

I think what made Eleven's exit so much more powerful than Ten's was that it wasn't trying to be sad. It was triumphant. Eleven accomplished so much in his time but his moment was over. He embraced his final curtain, and that's why it was emotional. He accepted it while we still can't.

It wasn't more sad than 10's at all. they were both sad in different ways. A triumphant ending isn't more or less sad it is just different. Also let's remember they are the same man always, but at different points in his life. 10 was sad because unlike 11 he didn't get to do so much more. 11 maxed out his lifespan to the fullest whilst's 10's was cut short due to self-sacrifice

Steven K Ellingham Elevens exit was kind of powerful, but imo, it was nowhere near as powerful as Tens as Moffatt was still onboard for Doctor number 12. When Ten left, it was powerful because he closed the chapter on the best era, with the best actors and plot lines and we bid farewell to RTD, the Tenth Doctor, Donna, Wilf, Martha, Mickey, Sarah Jane, Jack, and Rose and Jackie for the final time. This may be one of the most powerful songs in the Doctor Who soundtrack. A lot of people in here associate it with the end of one great incarnation of the Doctor, and while it's certainly that, it's not just that. This song also accompanied a great companion's defining moment. This song properly welcomed Clara Oswald and bid a fond farewell to the 11th Doctor. Two powerful moments shared this song, one that told us to honor those no longer with us by living out as many of the days they never could as we can, and one that told us to stay true to ourselves by remembering all the ways we've changed over our lives and who we changed from. The Doctor: The first face this face saw. We all change... when you think about it, we're all different people all through our lives.
