That's not just any old baseball bat Ace has. It's had its molecular structure modified using Gallifreyan technology, and can shatter through dalek armour plating like it's made of cardboard.

It was so incredible to see him, Mel and Jo again after all this time and was completely flabbergasted when he had a line!:) I feel the need to watch the William Hartnell era again. Btw, I heard somewhere online the empty seat next to Jo was for Sarah Jane and I got teary-eyed. RIP Elisabeth Sladen 😥

William Russell (Ian Chesterton) entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the actor who reprised the same character in the same series after leaving the series for the longest period of time.

As a fan of Dr Who since the late 70's this episode was a joy to watch. Ace is my favourite companion, a streetwise teenager with a fondness for explosives who fought back rather than scream, so to see her back in action 33 years later was an absolute joy. Sophie Aldred and Sylvester McCoy (7) have such a great chemistry on and off screen that when they had their scene together it was almost like they'd never left. The Companion's Anonymous group included Mel played by Bonnie Langford (companion to 6&7), Jo Grant played by Katy Manning (no. 3) and Ian Chesterton played by William Russell. Ian was one of the 3 original companions that appeared in the very first episode of classic Who, which broke a Guinness World record for longest gap between TV appearances as the same character, a mind boggling 57 years apart.

I absolutely love the parallel between David's first lines after 9 regenerated, and his first line after 13 regenerated. Also love the last words from Jodie, "Tag, You're It" that just screams 13. I LOVE THAT GRAHAM CAME BACK. Loved seeing all the old companions, loved the throwbacks. Loved the Master. Loved the whole episode. Can't wait to see Tennant back in action!

Ncuti Gatwa was under contract to another television company when it was announced he would be the "next" Doctor and was could not be legally released until the contract finished. In the meantime - the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who was approaching and Gatwa would not be able play the Doctor. So - bring an old Doctor back to fill the gap until Gatwa could sign his Doctor Who contract. David Tennant is officially the 14th Doctor and will appear in 3 hour-long specials before Gatwa takes over at the 16th Doctor at Christmas 2023.

If i remember right the 7th doctor gave Ace's Baseball bat a significant 'upgrade' in their Dalek story. That's not the first Dalek, to come a cropper to that bat. :-) Oh, Also: Ace's hobby is making high yield explosives... Oh fyi this was a special celebrating 100 years of the BBC. The 60th Anniversary special is Next year.

I'd really recommend in the future check out Classic Who sure the special effects aren't up to todays standard but none of that matters it's the stories that matter and there are some fantastic stories. All the other companions that were in the room along with Graham, Dan, Yaz, Ace and Tegan were. Ian Chesterton who was The First Doctor's companion. Jo Grant who was The Third Doctor's companion. Melanie Bush who was The Sixth and Seventh Doctor's companion. The Doctor doesn't neccesarily abandon his or her companions some leave on their own terms, some die, some leave on tragic circumstances. The old Doctors you see with Jodie was The First Doctor (David Bradley) who was originally played by William Hartnell whose sadly passed away in 1975. The Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker). The Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) who was also with Tegan. The Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) who was also with Ace and was the last Classic Doctor before its sudden cancellation in 1989 Ace never had a departure scene. And of course Paul McGann Number 8. There was also a trailer for the 60th anniversary next year at the end of the episode.

All the classic Who actors have been playing these roles for many many years since Classic Who ended in the Big Finish audio series. Many of the people involved in New Who were involved with it while they waited for the series to return to Television.

@monocle_mage92732 жыл бұрын
@@han5234 There are quite a few big finnish audio stories on spotify that you could check out. If you do want to dip into buying some, they have weekly sales for different stories all the time. Makes it a bit easier to find things in their massive library to buy. The stories can still be a bit expensive even on sales (it’s sadly such a niche product they have to keep the price high in order for them to be profitable), but just buying something you’re interested once in a while isn’t too bad.

This episode had so many brilliant things on it, all the performances were great, the music on point, the returning classic doctors and companions as well as Jo Martin 's Fugitive Doctor, and Tennant returning! Mad showing, really well done. Also, the old man was William Russell, who played Ian Chesterton, part of the very first companion team. He hasn't returned on screen in I think 57 years since, so it's made to see him back!

Great reaction and that you hadn’t heard about DT returning. That’s been common knowledge here in the uk but I wasn’t sure if she’d regenerate into Ncuti and then glitch into David or if it’d been David, so that was still fun to watch. He’s back for 3 eps airing next Nov for the 60th anniversary before passing the baton to Ncuti. I saw some of the public filming for the 60th and it was surreal seeing him filming Doctor Who again. Never thought I’d see that again (I was lucky to witness the Powell estate end of time filming with him & Billie in 2009)! Shame Jodie couldn’t have stayed with RTD’s writing / stewardship for a bit, as she really deserved better scripts.

"Ra ra Rasputin...." 💃🎶🎶 😆 I also love Doctor Who, although I admit that I haven't watched since Jodie's first season. I just couldn't get into her incarnation (although IMO that was the writers fault and not hers). So I didn't catch some of the stuff with the new companions, but I liked this episode in general. It was a bit convoluted, but it was nice seeing the old Doctors. And 10 is my favorite, so it's nice to see Tennant back even if it's temporary.

My days you are green aren't you when it comes to classic Doctors lol. Present in the regeneration wasteland sequence were 1st 6th 5th 7th and 8th Doctors. Tom baker as the 4th wasnt present because he is 88 now and unable to do such stuff any more. Adric was the companion to the 4th and 5th Doctors. He was killed in a cyberman episode when the space ship he was trapped in collided with earth 65 million years ago thus replacing the meteor that killed off the dinosaurs. That death badly affected Tegan and the Doctor because they could not save him. the 5th Doctor episode refered to is called EARTHSHOCK.

Perhaps one of the reasons you didn't get on board with the relationship between Yaz and the Doctor is because it felt like forced fan-service - wedged into the show in response to fans shipping the characters, rather than an organic development of the characters and stories? That's my response to it anyway as a gay man I'm all for more queer representation in Doctor Who, but the Yaz-Doctor semi-romance didn't feel authentic or deserved to me, narratively speaking. Oh, and given you mentioned Wilfred Mott (as played so beautifully by the late Bernard Cribbins), you'll be pleased to know Wilf apparently turns up in one of the 2023 specials with Tennant and Tate - he was seen filming scenes with them, albeit being pushed around in a wheelchair.
