I've teased the idea myself. The cold open is the regeneration, then the whole episode is how a Regen stunted Doctor can stop something bad from happening without further hurting himself. I call it "Changing of the Guard".

I just hope he went out with better last words than "I'm regenerating". For me, that was the clue they were getting around it somehow. As someone who wasn't a fan of 10, I love this video. Bravo.

Timeline 1 was probably my favorite of the two timelines, although I would have had 11 create the Metacrisis Doctor earlier and have 11 just barely be in the episode since in my opinion it’s not really fair to have a story switch Doctors halfway through so I think that would make it better. Everything else about Timeline 1 I love having Matt ending up doing 4 full series, plus Jenna now getting a full proper season with Matt, and also just having Peter in the Day of the Doctor with John, David, and Matt just sounds like a good time

Really digged Timeline 2 especially having McKellen come back for Day of The Doctor. I would kill to see his 11th Doctor interacting with Hurt's War Doctor. I also love how McKellen helps to better justify Smith's Doctor as the last incarnation of The Doctor's original Regeneration cycle. Now here's a somewhat relating suggestion: What if Paul McGann RETURNED as The 12th Doctor? In this timeline, The Doctor's returning face after starting his new regeneration cycle is now of a previous incarnation instead of a previous key side character. Let's say that as he's brain storming ideas for the 50th Anniversary special, Moffat then decides to finally give McGann his series as he decides to not only bring him back as The 8th Doctor for Night of The Doctor, but to also make him the next Doctor after Matt Smith makes his leave!

@@BillWhovian Mainly just the new 11th Doctor causing genocide, I just feel like it’s out of character, especially coming from like 4 series up until then of the doctor regretting doing genocide in the time war, so it just felt odd to me. But I loved how Donna died instead, and how the 60th had Tennant and Rose, really cool how that worked out. But another thing I was thinking about was in the first timeline with Matt Smith, it kinda felt like you were going through some of the same plot story beats that happened in the real episode, even though you didn’t have to, and to me it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me to make Donna loose her memory out of no where for a reason I thought didn’t make that much sense, and also having 11 be able to create an entire clone of himself in Rose with the regeneration energy, like it just felt a little out of place and overpowered I guess. But yeah for a lot of those in the first timeline like I said I think some of the ideas you had in the 2nd one could work in the first as well, instead. And then one other thing was that in that first timeline when you had series 6 be about the shadow proclamation and have everyone work for them, I just felt like it didn’t feel super realistic because Moffat would still want to do his own thing in his era, and so I think at most it would be the series 5 connection you said but to a lesser extent. And yeah then with leaving the series 6 plot in tact the new series 7 you had could follow up on the plot thread that never were in real life like you said in a previous video. But yeah that’s it. Sorry if it seems like a lot, it’s really not, like I said I overall REALLY enjoyed the video, really great writing man. Have a good day!

Really enjoyed this video, i like the first idea , mixed on the Ian mckellen idea. You inspire me to do what ifs. However, im not very good at filming and editing youtube videos. Can you do a what if version of his but with Paul mcgann as 11 for the finale and specials maybe bring up how he felt as the eighth doctor during the time war becoming timelord victorious or even if it were Michael Jayston

Let me just say this... I liked the 10th Doctor a lot. Matt Smith is still my favorite modern era Doctor... but I enjoyed all of the pre-Chibnall Nu Who Doctors. When Tennant's final full season ended and the specials were announced, I was a bit disappointed... because I would have preferred to get a full season. I understood why this was done (he was going off to do Shakespeare with Patrick Stewart, I think was the reason)... but I still wanted than we were going to be getting. When Tennant's departure after the specials was announced, I found that to be a little frustrating and annoying, to be honest. I was waiting for a full 4th series for Doctor #10... which never came. At the time, I wondered why they didn't have him regenerate at the end of his third season (leaving the identity of the 11th Doctor ambiguous - like when Patrick Troughton regenerated)... and then use the year of specials to do something else. RTD was also leaving with David Tennant... and I think, in my head, that final RTD year could've been better used to give say, Paul McGann a spin off miniseries. So the 8th Doctor could get a little more t.v. time. And then Stephen Moffat could come in and cast the (then) new Doctor - which still would've been Matt Smith and the series (and maybe the 8th Doctor series too) could continue on from there (as it did). In the end, I think if Tennant had come back after the year of Specials to do one more full season, I think it would've felt less like a wasted year.

Timeline 2's 11th hour should definately be titled something with 12 in it, since it'd become a double meaning title, not only to the debut of the 12th Doctor, but also the 12 years he accidentally skipped forward with Amy. Not sure what that title would be though.

Hey I have another episode suggestion that you could do for your what if season 2/15 had thirteen episodes. This one is actually a Dalek episode. Doesn't have to come after Refuge it could be later on, which is basically an introduction to a Dalek redesign which is basically the Daleks of the potential Dalek spin-off series that Refuge is essentially meant to be the back door pilot to that very series. Also I think the first timeline version I like more. Though the one with Ian would be nice as well.

@thelonewolf2476 For Timeline 1: Tennant (2005-2008) Series 2-4. Smith (2008-2012) Series 5-8. Capaldi (2012-2017) Series 9-12. Whittaker (2017-2022) Series 13-15. Tennant (again) (2022-2023) 60th Specials. Gatwa (2023-Present) Season 1 [aka Series 16] onwards. In order to make this work, Capaldi would also need to stay on for 4 series. He'd have our Series 8 and 9 for the alternate Series 9 and 10. And then two series with Bill and Nardole (or one with Perkins and Shona and then one with Bill and Nardole). For Timeline 2: Tennant: (2005-2008) Series 2-4. McKellen (2008-2010) Journey's End-the End of Time Part Two. Smith (2010-2013) Exact same as it was in our timeline. Capaldi (2013-2017) Exact same as it was in our timeline too. Whittaker (2017-2022) Exact same as ours again. Tennant [again] (2022-2023) 60th Specials. Gatwa (2023-Present) Exact same as ours.

for the first timeline i thought it was pretty good i would have loved to see twelve play in big part in the 50th also it would have been great to see a modern doctor make it to 4 series instead of just 3 and x amount of special we have gotten so far with every doctor [apart from nine] the only problem i had with it would be a few plot holes like gallifrey being back before dotd or how missy or sacha masrers exist if the master didn't get resurrection in end of time trough saying that i could see that being fix by having the arethct be the lady from last of the timelords behaps have her bring him back as a last ditch effort to get rid of the doctor once and for all only to had simm master rebel in the end and defeat her other that i do like the first timeline 8 out 10 contune in reply

as for the second timeline man that was dark donna dead eleven broken it like the tone of water of mars but for for the whole era luckly that my favorite of the specials so it works out well i might not have seen his work from i heard i do think Ian could made a great doctor it also improves a few things from our timeline such as making more understandable for elven not wanting to go because his doctor only debuting six episodes earlier and having 15 staying pete's world with rose so there you wouldn't be wondering why 16 doesnt try to get help from him in episodes like legend of ruby sunday/empire of death or [any episode of season 2/15 ] that set on present day earth] 9 out of 10 through saying that i would had chosen a different actor to play the in between doctor peharps ether david warner or patrick stewart through in the later case it might had been impossible since he was also in the same show that david was in but that my opinion
