Whenever I was sick as a young boy, my mother would put this movie on for me. As I grew up, she would still put it on for me to watch. It was comforting to me. Even though I was young, I didn't fully grasp the whole idea of this. When I'm sick now, I watch this, and it still reminds me of home and I wish to show my kids this masterpiece and share it with them when they are sick.

It always breaks my heart when Zhivago claws at the frost on the window, then breaks the window with the curtain rod just to see her again. And by that time she is on the horizon, so close but yet so far away. He's devastated but knows that he protected her by sending her away. Oh, and before she left ...that look on her face when he placed the musical instrument (his prized possession) in the sleigh with her. So emotional and well done.

Wow, do I ever remember this movie. I watched it with my very first love, and we were so into each other, I'm afraid we missed parts it. Now it's a classic and will always remain to enchant other young couples in love. Oh well, my first love is no longer, but the memories of that time in the movie theater will always linger in my mind like the scent of honey suckle on a Summer evening.

I fell in love with Laura and, I'm still in love with Julie Christie. I was 14yrs and was forced to go see this wonderful movie by my mother. I read the book many yrs later. Our good doctor had his hardships. I must add; It is possible to love more than one woman at a time. Humbling in my older years. Forgive.

Singapore , it so popular, i was perhaps only 4 yrs old, my dad would keep aside money to buy tickets andthewhole bunch of us to watch .Tickets were not cheap ,good thing is, small kids like us can squeeze into seats. Being young, I can only remember the part of DRZhivago in thebus scene and was trying to call out a woman who was walking pass his moving bus... sadly he kind of fainted struggling for air ..so I watch again when i grew up ,,,hah

Christina Mussared just saw an interview with Sharif on TCM where he said David Lean deliberately focused on his eyes in the film, because being a poet, he wanted the audience to see everything through the poet's eyes.

One of the greatest love novels/films I’ve ever watched and read, it’s extraordinary and brings out so many emotions I have not seen in a long time. The ending especially breaks my heart seeing him die trying to run to the love of his life. I just like to imagine what would have happened if they had met the first time they saw each other back on that train in Moscow all the way at the beginning.

yeah that ending was tough, really tough! shoulda won best picture but at the time musicals were the forte, not beautiful movies like this. Since then I've never been a fan of the academy because other movies didn't win either that should have (like ET). yeah movies that touch the heart should win that award not some of the stupid movies that win instead.

RIP dear Omar !!!! Egypt-born Sharif won two Golden Globe awards and an Oscar nomination for his role as Sherif Ali in David Lean's 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia. He won a further Golden Globe three years later for Doctor Zhivago. Earlier this year, his agent confirmed he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. His agent Steve Kenis said: "He suffered a heart attack this afternoon in a hospital in Cairo."
